I have a 12700K and 4090. I maxed everything and was getting just below 60 fps with the same grainy shadows and hair. I then turned off Ray Reconstruction and it not only fixed the visuals but I was then getting 100+ fps.
It’s a shame because this game is gonna be completely overshadowed with kingdom come deliverance 2. Spider-Man will be an afterthought by the time they get this game and working order. Speaking of KCD2 it runs amazingly well on PC at launch.
Spider-man 2 on console had huge issues the first 3 days as well. Oh how people quickly forget. I remember falling through wall constantly and there was a game breaking but that didn't let me continue until the update. A lot people couldn't even install the game.
I keep my PS5 for exclusives for 2 reasons (my ps4/ps5 exclusives library) and for PC ports that don’t work out or require PSN. That and it helps spread out the storage situation. My PC has 4tb and my ps5 has 2 tb so it helps spread
I have to say, I've been playing it for the past few days using an RTX 4070 Super, along with 32GB RAM and a 5700X3D, and apart from minor screen tearing, which could be my monitor, no problems. I appreciate I'm in the minority.
They're time crunched. Think about how many ports they worked on and released since the game came out. I think it's been 3 major releases in the time since the game came out? And that was a year and a bit ago
Intel GPUs have a bug where you cant complete any Photo-Op missions or any mission that needs you to take a photo because no matter where you point the camera, It will say "Subject Obscured". The game is basically softlocked if you have an Intel GPU
Enabling rebar with nvidia profile inspector and deleting direct storage dlls really improves the games performance. I also think AF is more demanding than it may appear especially when moving/swinging around.
You wanna know something, I've been playing the game on my Steam Deck and I haven't had a lot of issues. Some loading stutter, and one crash. I also did have one soft lock on the Show Me New York mission, but rebooting the game allowed me to get past. But overall, the game's been playing fine. I've also heard the loading speed is improved if you get rid of the direct storage DLLs.
It runs absolutely great on my rig with LgC1 OLED 118 fps 4k dlss quality And FSR 3.1 with some RT its fantastic on my 3090 32gb DDR5 @5600 m/t, I7-12700k, it’s crazy seeing all these PCs having problems and mine is running just fine wow 🤯
Something I've seen few folks talk about is the horrible frame-times seem mostly confined to GeForce GPUs as the game had barely done any of the egregious lurches in this footage while running a modest Ryzen 3600 with a 6700 XT. Something's fishy about the way NVIDIA's driver schedules DirectStorage work to be done alongside everything else and the only way to fix it is to do an FPS cap. Like seriously, just run your game at an FPS it can consistently hit so it's not pegged at 100% constantly and it's magically fixed. Full-on crashes though seem to be GPU brand-agnostic.
Just 5 minutes ago I was talking with my wife that the port is so bad! And was thinking how people will play! I was shocked that with 7800x3d and 4080 super I can't get 60 fps stable on 4k and performance dlss!
I think what would help is optimization videos, which you could update, as the game receives patches. There are several settings that look better at a lower setting. It's strange. This game should perform much better. I'm willing to bet that settings that reach parity with the PS5 models are not performing anywhere near where they should be.y
9800x3d/64gb/4080super here. On DLSS quality transformer model with FG on and Ray Reconstruction off, it's playing great and I'm getting 110-120 fps. No noticeable lag but I did have to turn Ray Reconstruction off because of the "noisy hair". Been enjoying it but I get it. You buy a port and wanna use all the bells and whistles, not turn them off..

I have a high end Intel CPU 13900K and 4080 Super I’m not having the bad frame times. I am having some crashing and also the issues with the visuals looking bad maxed out.
It is strange. For me this a well optimized game. Playing very stable with 65-70fps on rtx 3080 ultrawide, no shader stutters, not many frame drops.. I had 3 crashes though in 12 hours, that is acceptable for me. It plays much better than Rebirth for me, which was a stutter fest.
Console optimization doesn’t get enough credit. It’s amazing how under powered ps5 pro maybe to the most powerful Nvidia yet the games optimized for it (Spiderman 2, Horizon 2) look very nice and def competitive to the most high end PCs. But a high end PC will cost 2k more than a Pro.
That is because the PC port is botched. You're basically saying "wow this corolla is really keeping pace with this mercedes c class" when in reality, the mercedes engineers took a shit in the engine block. 😔
@ ok then what about Horizon FW? Does that look significantly better than the Pro? Just look at it from a non biased pc fanboy perspective. The best games on Pro don’t look drastically different than a high end PC.
@wizzenberry They're loyal to PC due to how committal it is, but the capabilities of high end pc's completely eclispe the capability of the PS5 Pro & yet the experience you're receiving doesn't even reflect the raw hardware power, despite setups existing that possess double the VRAM, increased clock speeds of cores & access to better AI software like DLSS 4 & FSR 4, that consoles lack. Despite all of this & far more, PC experiences feel far too similar to their console counterparts & all because of a considerable lack of PC optimisation.
These pirates stole the source code and wanted to be paid for not releasing this game. Insomniac refused and they released this game online about a year ago. It's been on the internet for a year. Obviously it affected this ports release... and rightly so. These hackers have destroyed a pipeline and affected us all.
The companies should be held accountable somehow. Videos like this that just focus on the launch issues without trying to review the rest of the game seem like a reasonable idea to me.
Not only does it work flawlessly for me, but I already have about 70 percent of the game uplaoded to my channel XD, playing on a 4080 super/ ryzen 7 7800x3d in 4k with DLSS quality at 144 fps. I think a lot of people are having "skill/driver issues".
I usually don't buy games day 1 but when it comes to my favorite ones like Spiderman or TLOU I can't help but get them day 1. Although I'm 16% into the game and the experience isn't that bad. It's not as bad when Silent Hill 2 was launched.
Don't review it, but comment on what you would like to see addressed. While I've always had some problem, one way or another, with Nixxes ports, I believe it's that they're being rushed to release these ports on a stringent timeline. Past ports had memory-leaking issues and crashed and the sort, for example. And you usually have to pray the problems with these ports get addressed before another release because Nixxes moves on afterwards.
Didnt this get posted yesterday? I commented then how it is odd that for most games they get labelled as BROKEN but this video they just keep explaining it as "something weird". Is it really weird when TLOU launches broken and Spiderman 2 gets launched broken (crashes, graphic glitches, improper renders). Seems certain publishers get these issues labelled with much more flattering terminology. Some may even call it "weird". I think in other games this would get labelled as broken or bad. I wonder why this is given such a spin?
You know the port is garbage when you get insane fps drops by simply spining the camera with a mouse... Im not even joking, if you have the game, try doing a 180.
Similar to other "next-gen" console only games (TLOU, SWJS, etc.) This game is "broken" for Nvidia's GPUs on Day 1. This game has crashed once on my 7900 XTX and I'm about 20hrs in. It runs great. That said, it's soaking up 19-21GB VRAM maxed out at "4k" with FSR 3.1 Quality and FG off or on. I'm having a great time with it ☺️ Apparently, these games "just work" only on AMD 😂
I have never seen Anisotropic Filtering impact the performance of a game THIS MUCH before. Literally goes from stuttery 30FPS to somewhat playable 60-70FPS going from Trilinear to 8x-16x. I'm on a RX 6650 XT btw.
Look worse than previous Spidermans, in some aspects similar, but runs like most UE5 games. But hey, we have DLSS and Frame Generator, so we don't have to optimised the game.
The 5080 isn't the factor here, this game can't do full raytracing CPU wise. The weird artifacting is the ray reconstruction. I run this on a 5080 / 7600X3D, 4k, DLSS Quality, very high raytracing, not Ultimate and no ray reconstruction. Capped to 60 fps, game runs very well.
Nah I don't buy it. They intentionally made a bad port so people buy their console instead. They had more than a year to make a simple port of a game made on pcs
Only in this industry is it allowed to release an unfinished product.
"They can't keep getting away with it!!!"

Not only does it work flawlessly for me, but I already have about 70 percent of the game uplaoded to my channel XD, playing on a 4080 super/ ryzen 7 7800x3d in 4k with DLSS quality at 144 fps. I think a lot of people are having "skill/driver issues".
Amazing video, thank you Digital Foundry.
I usually don't buy games day 1 but when it comes to my favorite ones like Spiderman or TLOU I can't help but get them day 1. Although I'm 16% into the game and the experience isn't that bad. It's not as bad when Silent Hill 2 was launched.
First time a hear "unknowancy"
Don't review it, but comment on what you would like to see addressed. While I've always had some problem, one way or another, with Nixxes ports, I believe it's that they're being rushed to release these ports on a stringent timeline. Past ports had memory-leaking issues and crashed and the sort, for example. And you usually have to pray the problems with these ports get addressed before another release because Nixxes moves on afterwards.
Running at 60ish FPS with base resolution of 1080p using a USD 1000 GPU and a top of the line CPU. Gaming is in an absolute sorry state.
Who approved the release of this port at this broken state? Fire him.
Jedi survivor also broken on console.. Not just pc
Was just play it and it crashed...
Turn the ray reconstruction off
2015 game in the technical aspect (with some extra modern effects) running like garbage on $1000-1500 2025 GPU.
*When do you think unfinished and unpolished games start becoming the norm? And why?*
A Web of Sins,
It's just in it's beta, give it a year and it will be worth buying.
Quite literally what is going on with stalker 2
@XiLock_Alotx it's ok, it just means the game will be cheaper while not having as many bugs
@@XiLock_Alotx completed it on series x without many issues
play it for 2 hrs and it dies every time at almost exactly 2 hrs and 19 min
Just play it on the OG playstation 5 Problem solved 👌
Hell no
Runs great on rig and blows ps5 pro out the water stop that
Why is one dude on his phone for like the whole video lol
I have a rtx 3070 and I have no issues
Spiderman 2 so far has been a flop on PC, and I'm blown away with that.
I have never seen Anisotropic Filtering impact the performance of a game THIS MUCH before. Literally goes from stuttery 30FPS to somewhat playable 60-70FPS going from Trilinear to 8x-16x. I'm on a RX 6650 XT btw.
Good thing I haven't bought the game yet.
I'll wait until maybe most of the issues are fixed. (If it ever will).
lol 3k computer running a pc game at 60 fps with dlss on.
in ultra not en low PS5 pro
Look worse than previous Spidermans, in some aspects similar, but runs like most UE5 games. But hey, we have DLSS and Frame Generator, so we don't have to optimised the game.
Please fix the fizzling hair!
Its a good thing this game sucks, it would be a shame is someone purchased it and got these issues.
Nah I don't buy it. They intentionally made a bad port so people buy their console instead. They had more than a year to make a simple port of a game made on pcs
Glad I didn’t get a pc and got the ps5 pro. It plays amazing on pro
Copied ps5 pro settings runs excellent
So the Brazilian unofficial port might be the better option for PC players.
Bad port make this game heavy then Cyberpunk with path tracing, DLSS Quality
Got a PS5 Pro problem solved 😊
Have fun brother
@makandalp Thanks 👍🏻
