My 2019 3500 dually batteries lasted about 4 years. $360 x 2 from the dealer plus install. Got 2 AGM's from Walmart for $360. Walmart brand (Everstart) manufactured by a reputable battery manufacturer. Very satisfied with them. Best bang for the buck.
Great video, Marion. Thanks for the info. Batteries are so overlooked and important. FYI- Costco sells their "Kirkland" brand. These (or at least in my area, Northern Calif) are supplied by Interstate, which are built by Johnson Controls. Definitely better priced through them (if you have Costco in your area).
I apologize for my delay. I examined the entire label of my batteries and see no mention of AGM so I am concluding they are conventional flooded cell batteries. I did not remove one or both from the truck and won't until they die.
My 2018 3500HO sits oct-may in heated garage on a victon smart charger and so far I haven’t had any battery issues.🤞🏻I get a bunch more years outa the factory batteries! Great video, Thanks!
my 2018 are AGM batterys - a Lamamie - and is suppose to be sealed - and keeping a desulphater on em often - should help also make em last longer - but does make the water evaporate quicker - My Kubota tractors also have AGM batterys - and yep - they cost more -- they also have more power in em -- ahahaha
Just opened mine up and both batteries had low water in a few of the cells per battery. I bought and installed them 11-2020. I bet I will get a longer life out of them now, you just saved me some more money!!
Was that the actual original equipment battery that came in your truck or was it replaced from the original? The batteries out of my 2014 and my 2017 did not have labeling like the one in your video. I went aftermarket when I replaced mine, and all parts stores specified AGM as the OE equivalent. I'll check & see if I still have any of the old ones I took out & see if there's any free electrolyte in them or removable covers.
Just to update a little…I did find “some” old batteries in my shop. The date on them would indicate they’re from my 2014, but I have no idea where the old ones from my ‘17 went. Maybe the date is some sort of certification vs manufacture date. Whatever the case, the ones I found are flooded cells not agm, but they do have a Chrysler/dodge/ram part number on them. Researching that p/n shows it’s discontinued but, the vehicle applications are pretty much all FCA vehicles from now back to 2010. I would really like to know why all the parts stores only list agm’s for replacement if the actual OE ones are flooded type.
Stock batteries are absolute garbage. First thing you should do with a new truck is throw away the stock batteries and put in a high quality aftermarket battery you can trust.
and chances are, you are replacing it with the exact same battery... theres only like 3 manufacturers for car batteries, Clarios(formerly johnson controls), East Penn or Exide.

Interesting Mr Blair! I will give a peek at mine tomorrow morning ('19 3500)
I would be interested as well, I have a 2021 3500 in storage right now and wish I could get to it to check the battery. @ Walter K please let us know.

Something tells me; top it off w/distilled water & it should still start your vehicle just fine👌

Yes, this was an OEM from the original install by factory.
Can I charge my batteries separately while still hooked up to the truck with a 12 volt charger?
Yes, you'll be charging both at the same time.

@@ganzeytyler You are absolutely correct. Oldest secret in the book.
Baloney! I live in the desert southwest, nearly in Death Valley and I am on four years with the OEM batteries in my Ram 3500.
