- Shawne Merriman is a former NFL All-Pro & ProBowl linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers. Shawne’s story is another reminder that you don’t have to be defined by your circumstances. He overcame enormous odds to become one of the best pass-rushers the NFL has ever seen. After growing up in Washington, D.C., Merriman decided to stay home & play college ball at Maryland, despite being highly recruited by more prestigious football schools. During Freshman orientation Shawne is famously known for looking his coaches & teammates in the eyes and saying, “I’m playing three years & going pro.” He did just that.
Since retiring from the NFL, Shawne has become a successful entrepreneur under the brand “Lights Out” - a nickname he was given after knocking four opponents out in a single high school football game (this was quite the story). He is the founder of Lights Out Extreme Fighting ( @LightsOutXF ), now airing on Fubo Sports. This story gave me chills the entire hour. Enjoy!

Love your show Drue! I loved watching Shawne and the Bolts back in the day. Listening to his story is really awesome. He didn't bring up his strip sack which gave LT the chance to get the record!

Kevin Mawae taking out Merriman was one of the most fucked up hits. 15 yards behind the play after the whistle 2 guys from behind. Media completely ignored it. Refs ignored it. Announcers ignored it.
Was lucky enough to meet Shawne and he is genuinely a great guy down to earth and has a shit ton of knowledge about life and business
