Imagine complaining about snowflakes and SJW's when you're the one getting butthurt by a Top 10 wrestling list on the internet. I swear, this comment section...
Just went through the first 40 or so comments down from yours and only saw one mentioning SJW's or snowflakes. Virtue signalling when there's no call for it? That's new. But yeah, whether it's a random RUclips list or a wrestling storyline from 2 years ago, if you're offended, you're a snowflake. Simple.
There is nobody here complaining about snowflakes. I mean, I see what you are TRYING to do but it's not really working. Even if there were people complaining about snowflakes it wouldn't even be comparable as their reasons for being upset are different. Snowflakes are upset because they think that the world revolves them and their feelings and that everyone should adhere to their strict idea of what is socially acceptable but there are no real consequences other than hurt feelings whereas those who are upset by those who are easily offended are so because there are potentially worse consequences that may affect them directly and unfairly, such as their favourite shows, music or moves being cancelled or taken away from them. Snowflakes have the option of simply avoiding what offends them but they so often choose not to. Nobody is forcing them to experience the things they are offended by but they are forcing everyone else who aren't offended to miss out on experiencing it. If it was the other way round that would be considered a violation on one's human rights. The potential consequences are essentially akin to that of an authoritarian dictatorship (See North Korea where simply making fun of their leader results in severe legal consequences). This is why Freedom of speech exists, to protect everyone and give everyone a choice in how they want to live. There is no right or wrong way to feel about a movie, music, TV show etc but there is a right and a wrong way to react to it and if it causes you to react in a way that imposes on others or infringes on their freedom or rights then you are objectively wrong. If your response to a joke is to be upset or offended that is your right and I will never personally tell you that you are wrong for that but if you take action to either shame those who do find it funny or go a step further and attempt to get those who laugh at the joke in legal trouble or get the source of the joke cancelled then that is different. But it certainly is not a case of both parties being "Triggered" by the other.

Yeah, many of the American tropes do not travel well...although I know for sure there are quite a few people in Britain and maybe some other European countries (Spain, almost certainly) who know that most Mexicans have (American) Indian blood, so the Kerwin White stereotype would be, if not funny, at least understandable to them. Although, come to think of it, sometimes getting a glimpse of another culture that is completely inscrutable can be a fascinating experience. Finn Balor's "Demon King" was so captivating in part because even many Irish-Americans are not familiar with the pagan Irish mythology.
On the one hand, I'm kinda surprised that Eugene (or Sgt. Slaughter) wasn't #1. I remember Akeem/One Man Gang &, to be honest, I thought WWE should've stuck w/OMG. He was legit in the ring & a great heel. Now, full disclosure, I thought the Akeem character was more stupid than offensive. Maybe it's because I'm white. Maybe because Akeem's antics were so over-the-top bad. The bookers were at least smart enough to have him as a hopelessly terrible "African American". It's hard to hate a tone-deaf goof who spoke crappy jive & had absolutely no rhythm. But also bear in mind that it took me years to finally see the "Deepest Darkest 'African' ghetto" promo & NOW I get why folks hated the character. If the Godfather of Style WAS the idiot who pitched the gimmick, shame on him. If he was strongarmed by Vince to sell it, shame on Vince. If OMG TRULY thought this would be his ticket into the top tier, well, what can I say? He was an idiot.
The problem with Chavo's "Kerwin White" gimmick was that, well, no one with even a fraction of a brain could possibly take it seriously. Of course, it was supposed to be funny, so there was no chance of anyone LITERALLY taking it seriously. But what I mean is that the gimmick would have been much more interesting if Chavo had made the character believable. I mean, looking at him, bleached hair or no bleached hair, that was still a Chicano. If he had affected a pitch-perfect upper-middle-class accent (which wouldn't have been impossible, since the Guerreros' real-life voices sound sufficiently American) and powdered his face to a Michael Jackson level of whiteness, the gimmick would have been a lot more bizarre, but at least it would have been different enough from the real Chavo to justify its existence. Instead, what we got was an obvious Mexican-American with dyed hair doing a voice that sounded like the stereotype of what Latin Americans apparently think "Anglo" voices sound like. "Kerwin White" came off more as a posh homosexual caricature than a white American.

I wish the hadn't done that to Eugene & Hassan because Nick [Eugene] & Hassan [Marc] were two of the best wrestlers to come out of OVW.
If I remember correctly, X-Pac had actually asked Mark Henry in advance if it was alright for him to parody him in that black-face fashion.
Cause he was feeling uncomfortable doing it himself. Henry gave him the go ahead, but man it must feel awkward for Waltman to talk about these days.

There was also Mordecai, and JBL when he did that Mexican Border stint. Some would also feel the Undertaker with the early 1999 Ministry of Darkness. Also Gangrel with the Blood Baths.
Of course, no one would top Muhammad Hassan.

I think I’m the only one that liked Eugene as a character. Honestly he’s one of my favorite gimmicks of all time.
As someone working in the mental health profession, I see it as a misguided idea that propagated misinformation. The only way a company can claim to be in support of persons with disabilities is if they provide work opportunities for them. All I see in Eugene's character is a mockery of real life struggles.
At the start, I can agree. The skits with William Regal where they showed him warming up to Eugene and Eugene proving how good we was were really good. Like everything in WWE though, they ran it into the ground and interfered with it too much, over doing things and ruining the character.
@@E_l_l_i_e Totally agree. A lame wrestler with a unnecessary character
I thought Eugene was great. Nick made a character that showed anybody could achieve their dreams. A lot of people tend to look at everything in a negative light.
I mean...he would eat his boogers while making noises with his tongue sticking out and clapping..i get what Nick wanted to do but..yeah that ain't it chief.

Imagine complaining about snowflakes and SJW's when you're the one getting butthurt by a Top 10 wrestling list on the internet. I swear, this comment section...
Lmao accurate
Projection is a strong tool!
@@stonecold6521 "If you're offended, you're a snowflake. Simple." Remember that next time you are offended by something/someone (and you will be) or have an "issue" with something.

not going to lie i really liked the Eugene gimmick he was funny and great in the ring such a weird but goofy gimmick
I honestly thought they could have done something really clever with Hassan. They could have made him a character who would inevitably be boo'd to start but then earn the respect of the fans by making the save for faces etc... then if it didn't work he could continue the schtick of persecuted heel and be a solid mid card heel.
You should have added the character The Final Solution. The character didnt last long.
The fact godfather actually owned a stripjoint was too good lol. No wonder it was such a natural fit.,🤣

Wrestled ONE match and got fired.
Say what you say about Sgt Slaughter's heel turn, it gave him main stream status well past his prime and headlining in Wrestlemania where he would have had no business to be at otherwise.
I always thought he was in the mainstream. Especially when he was a literal G.I. Joe action figure
My bus driver in HS used to say "if it ain't white, it ain't right"

Something Amazing. I work with adults with disabilities and people I support to this day still talk about Eugene. They love him. I never got the lawnmower thing, living in Europe. I guess the equivalent of having an Eastern European coming to the ring as builder. 🤔
Same with Kirwin White, Hispanic/Latino isn't considereded as a race in Europe so he would be white here. 🤷🏽♂️ 😅
Finally someone who gets it. No, Hispanic/Latino is NOT a race, thank you!
Never caught an upload so fast
Reports say that Rhodes didn't even know what the word "Androgynous" meant when the character was pitched to him
On the one hand, I'm kinda surprised that Eugene (or Sgt. Slaughter) wasn't #1. On the *other* hand, I DO remember Muhammad Hassan, and my wrasslin' buddies and I looking at him and openly saying "...jesus, are they really trying to push this? Like, *now*? If WWE was around in the 40's, would they have had a rassler named 'Adam Hitlan' that threw shade at Macho Man all the time?"
I mean, we openly ROOTED for Eugene, 'cause y'know, "He's....erm....SPECIAL. But dagnabbit, kid's got some pizazz, and knows his in-ring work, so I wanna see him succeed!" But Hussan....c'mon, man. Bridge too far, all that. "Oh, so he's....uh....goddamn, son, this is painful."

To be fair, though, Vince *instantly* green-lit a guy who could (purportedly) vomit on-command,, not to MENTION the (supposed...?) incest angle between Steph and Shane, so....I mostly have no words to describe what he *wants* to do. Mostly just sounds. (And those sounds are eerily similar to those "on-command" vomits that Vince wanted to see, in-ring. Vince is a 14-year-old boy, in the body of a 76-year-old billionaire, PLEASE figure out how to get him to spend his billions on...less stupid stuff.)
Gawd, Trips, save us. I don't care *what* you gotta do to bring Samoa Joe back into the fold, at LEAST for developmental and/or plots, just do it. You both see the true workers, and y'all can conVINCE (ha!) him to NOT lean into the puerlie shit. So please, go do that. I have a now adult brother with autism but the Eugene storyline I thought was awe inspiring and heartwarming. It didn’t need to leak into the main event scene and making him into a jobber and ridiculed in ECW ONS was appalling.

Goldust is one of the best purely for comedic value can’t change my mind
no one will ever get Slaughter heat again
