I started to play the Nippon PRO 950GH neo and love it. I played their Modus 105 for a while and it just didn’t seem to work for me as well as the 950GH. Given my swing speed, the LPGA is much closer to my game than the PGA. Some people aren’t shaft sensitive but I am.

That’s great. Delighted you’ve found a set of shafts that work well 👍

Whats your 7iron swing speed? I've recently switched to the Modus 105S from TT R200 and I'm absolutely loving the N.S.Pros. The TTs just don't respond as well and hit considerably lower than the Modus 105s. My 7i swing speed is only 75+

@@mlinder2000 Low 80’s so not to fast. The Nippon 950 and the modus 105 both just went higher and landed softer than the TT with my experience as I tried them too. I found myself just really fighting with the modus 105’s and I just swing the 950GH’s with no fight as it just goes where I want it and swings real smooth. I really wanted to like the Modus 105’s and that is what the Mizuno fitter wanted to put me in so I went with that shaft for a while.

Thanks for this. It's very hard to keep up sometimes. We saw her bag at the start of the year and the Proto Concept were still in there after she had a tinker with some Titleist irons for a very short time. Looks like she's been tinkering again though and moved on to the PING's. Looks likes its paid off too with an Olympic Gold Medal! 🥇

I wish people would distinguish between cavity backs and hollow bodies. T100 vs T200 for instance

It’s an interesting one. We’ve done videos in the past breaking the iron categories down more - blades, players irons, Players distance irons etc - but feedback was to keep the breakdown to cavity backs in it’s widest sense vs blades. Something we can look at again though for future editions 👍

I play ZX7 with Steelfiber i80 stiff shafts. They're long. They might be the only one-piece forged players distance irons that I know of.

Interesting question is why do players seemingly prefer i210s over the newer i230s? Maybe the i230 players are the newer members to Ping's roster and where never given the choice of the i210s, or maybe it is something else
I speak as an i210 player who has tried the i230s and found they were slightly lower spinning clubs
As for the shafts as i80 Steelfiber shaft player I am not surprised that it is popular on the LPGA tour - I have a similar club head speed to them, just not as much talent! I have been told in the past that Steelfiber shaft play a little stiffer than the designated flex so a regular is closer to a stiff shaft than a normal regular

Agreed Justin and definitely interesting to discuss what you can take from these decisions. Looking at the changes since we last did this analysis a few years back and they definitely seem less willing to change irons than drivers especially. Also seen quotes from some players, even sponsored ones who won’t change unless the launch monitor numbers show them a clear benefits. As for the graphite shafts really wonder whether LPGA pros use of them will persuade more amateurs to use them.

Charley Hull plays a full set of bladed irons and she's remarkably beautiful! Coincidence? I think not!
The only question remains is: Do only very attractive people play blades or do blades make you attractive? 😂
