I know this is an old programme, but I feel like I should point out that there are some inaccuracies in the information given here. In the first episode the hosts seems to have switched the identities of victims Martha Tabram and Mary Ann "Polly" Nichols. Martha Tabram was murdered on the 7th August, stabbed 39 times, and Polly Nichols was murdered quite some days later, on the 31st August, with her throat slit and the mutilations as described here. In this episode the hosts implied that the two murders of the so-called 'double event' of 30th September happened in the same square, that is, Mitre Square, and was discovered within 15 minutes of each other. This was not the case. The Elizabeth Stride murder happened in Dutfield's Yard, an alleyway off Berner Street, and was discovered at 1 a.m. Only the Catherine Eddowes murder took place in Mitre Square, and that murder was discovered 45 minutes after the discovery of the body of Elizabeth Stride. Liz Stride had her throat slit, but was not otherwise mutilated, unlike what is stated here. It's a common theory that the man who discovered her body had unknowingly interrupted the murderer before he could start the mutilation. The hosts also stated that Israel Schwartz saw a man conversing with Catherine Eddowes whilst in close proximity with another man (and possible accomplice) when it was actually Liz Stride who was assumed to be the woman that was seen.
