That's right Mrs. Mae Mae people always wanna correct you but they know exactly what you are talking about. Keep right on being yourself. I love watching your videos
My biscuits I make very similar to yours except I was taught to use butter instead of shortening so that's what I use. The rest of your ingredients I use the same amounts and the same ingredients. I cut my butter until it gets to the size of peas. I do not have a pastry cutter. I use a blending fork and I use the sides of the bowl to cut the butter into smaller pieces. Other than that I make mine the same way. I was also taught to brush the tops of my biscuits with a little more buttermilk to help them brown and to make the tops look extra pretty. Mrs Mae Mae your are a brave woman. You always dress so nice. If I was making biscuits in the beautiful black blouse it would be covered with flour after making biscuits. I have to wear an apron when I use flour. Somehow I end up with it all over my kitchen counter and all over me.
Thank you, Ms. Mae Mae! These biscuits look just like the ones my mother made! She grew up on a farm around Kinston, Alabama and the way she cooked looks a lot like how you do it. I should have learned more from her on how to cook, but since I didn't I so enjoy learning from you! Thank you and Mr. Tuck both! God bless you!
My aunt Jean would get up every morning and pop out biscuits for my uncle William! They would be so delicious with butter, jelly, and gravy! Thank-you for the memories! Your cooking remind me so much of my late aunt Jean. I miss her so much. You are such a great blessing. May I adopt you as my second aunt Jean/aunt Mae please. Love you.
Love you mrs.mae mae you have a beautiful spirit .love the way you present your videos, may God continue to bless 🙏 you and your family. Going to fix the hen and dressing for Thanksgiving already got your sweet potatoes with a twist down pack its delicious. Going to try one of your cake recipes next. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and knowledge and kindness. I could sit in your classroom all day. Love 💘 you
Ms. Mae, you don't listen to people like that. People like that aren't happy with their life so they have to find fault in someone else. I would just block them and not deal with it. We all know what you mean. I think it takes a strong woman to get in front of a camera and try and teach. My hats off to you. I think you do a great job. God bless you. 😊
Love you Ms. Mae Mae. Keep up the good work. Keep the blessings of Jesus in your hands. Wish I knew you personally we would be good friends. Yes the Jesus in me love the Jesus in you.
Love you Ms. Mae Mae. Keep up the good work. Keep the blessings of Jesus in your hands. Wish I knew you personally we would be good friends. Yes the Jesus in me love the Jesus in you.
I haven't seen rolled biscuits since I was a child. My grandmother and my mother were the professionals on this one. I love it ! Love the way you explain things! I was so tickled at your rant, if you didn't sound like my mother...lol
Ms. Mae, you are a breath of fresh air. I watch you cook and feel like I'm in my grandma's kitchen. I have made your banana pudding. It was wonderful! Next thing I'm going to make is your beef patties and gravy. I watched you make biscuits today. I feel like I can make biscuits now. I've always been afraid to try. God bless you!
I appreciate this video so much! My aunt who's been deceased many years used to make buttermilk biscuits. They were so good! She died suddenly so I never got her to teach me how. I'm going to try this recipe. Wish me luck chile. The last time I made biscuits they were hard as hockey pucks 🤣🤣🤣!
You are the original cookyou don't have to measure it and you don't have the time you know exactly what you doing you're from the old school I love the way you cook I wish I can come to your house and eat your food with you
I love a good biscuit, my grandmother would make them and we would have them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner when we came to her house. I miss those good old days, she made everything from scratch. Thank you, Mae Mae.
Can I just say I love that you don't cut them out. That was the reason I never liked making them from scratch. These look so good! I'm not sure how I stumbled across your video but glad I found your channel because I'm digging your vibe!
Happy to see you rolled the biscuits. IMO real biscuits are rolled, not cut. My grandmother, who cooked during the Great Depression rolled hers, technique handed down to granddaughters. She didn't have access to bought shortening so she used bacon grease. They were delicious. Keep sharing your southern ways (and cooking).
Tim LANGLEY Thank you so much Time for the nice comment and watching my channel, I really appreciate the support. May God bless you and your family 🙏🏿👼🏿😍
Just found your channel and subscribed. Love listening to you . You are a good teacher. Got to try your biscuits. Will do so in a few days. Love me some good , hot bicuits.
I see White Lily Flour. A lot of Southern cooks swear by it. Here in the Chicago area where I live, I only see low-fat buttermilk in the store, not whole. If I see whole buttermilk, I will have to try it! You are right: sometimes recipes are not tried and true, and if you get a recipe from a place that is not a RUclips video or a recipe with reviews, you don't know how it will turn out for sure--that is why you need to know some basics, I agree. Thanks for talking about how we need to know what it is supposed to look like. Sometimes that is more important than knowing the exact ingredients. You are so right: even if things in the kitchen don't look perfect, what matters is that they are made with love. I don't like canned biscuits, either, haha. Great minds think alike! Those biscuits turned out great! I love how you presented them on the cake stand. That pepper jelly looks so good! Thanks for sharing! They look great!
Thank you for these recipes 🙏🏽unfortunately my Mom and Grandma both transitioned within the last 5 years. Most of these recipes were NOT passed down. Thankfully you showed up in my recommendations and I am forever grateful 😃
Mother Mae you have blessed me again with a good delicious plate of biscuits. I can be having a bad day and I will watch your videos. And they just put a smile on my face. Mother Mae, May God continue blessing your life. And please continue blessing us with more delicious meals. Wanda

As with ANYTHING you fix, the biscuits look delicious ! I am new to biscuit making and will give your method (hand rolling / no cutting) a try. As for the haters, they only target those who intimidate them, so you must be doing something right - even in their eyes, so take it as a compliment. ❤️

Mrs. Mae thanks for sharing your biscuit recipe. Would like to have two. With some butter and jelly. Are split in half . With white gravy on top. You and your husband have a Blessed Evening.
When I saw the Crisco, I knew, I knew they would turn out right. Some jelly and butter, Lord have mercy!!!! Don't worry about the ppl that leave negative comments: they just ignorant
Greetings from Freeport Florida! Hi I’m a baker and wondering..... is it maybe because she’s using shortening and not butter, the reason these don’t come out doughy from the excessive handling? I’ve made buttermilk biscuits lately and I noticed that the more I handle, the more tough they are. I wanna try your way, you’ve bn spot on so far! I made your collards & cornbread yesterday and my 75 year old mother swore they were the best she’s ever had! And she’s a very picky southerner!
Hello 43ShaDey that’s possible. However there are some other things such as not enough shortening or butter or too much buttermilk can also make them doughy. That would make you have to handle the dough excessively. It’s hard to tell without know how many biscuits you are trying to make. I’m so glad your mother enjoyed my method!
Thank you, Mae Mae! I have been watching you cook A LOT during this pandemic...I prepared your fried chicken recipe and my chicken was pretty and delicious! Also, you pinch off your biscuits like my grandmother did when I was little. It brought back good memories! I am making your biscuits today! Thank you!!!
These look good and tasty. Forget about the haters because they are on everybody else's channels too. I've heard people talk about the haters many times on their channels. I think some people look at videos just to give a thumbs down on each one they see.
