Hey man, I'm the guy in the video. Holy cow this is old. I mean yeah, all things considered an 18 Bullhead better than a 15. And it really depends on your application. What I learned in my years of car audio. Enclosure design is everything.
The wow factor is enough for me. A good brand with enough upgrades and power any size will get loud. I run an 18 for the wow and I get louder then most in my area. Most of all I no one gets low like me
18’s are for filling vans up not the best for music daily! I like my 2 12’s DC LVL4 on DC 2k! If anything I will just get two more cause they don’t need much air!
I find it interesting that the PWK enclosure that helped HAT to win the USACi 2012 includes 4 x i6sw (6.5"), actually replaced 2 18" subs. Speaking to (only) a few retialers they informed me that 12's are the most popluar, followed by 15's then 10's. I thought 10's would have been a bit more popular.
Well, as you know there isn't even a way to "roughly" put "loud" into perspective. Your enclosure sounds like it will be great for a kicker sub. Good size and tuning. Not sure about the amplifier since I've never used that brand. I'll say it will be loud. (Not really loud, or stupid loud.) But it will be solid.....whatever that means.
Do you think 3 15inch Rockford Fosgate P3s will sound like 2 18s? I currently have a Rockford fosgate T2 15inch in a custom box and its loud in a 32hz box low and shakes the wax in my ears!
Man, lets take this a step further. I'm gonna be running a bunch of 8's from now on. lol The only problem becomes the impractical nature of the baffle board.
Will somebody tell me(roughly) how hard my kicker cvr15 in a 4.7 cube at 36 htz would hit @1ohm on an 1100 watt crunch amp, just give me a rough guesstamit plz?? Thx!!!
buddy your only talking a ported box I'm doing 8 18s fourth order in an astro the reasoning for 18s is lows not to be loud 15s yes there great for spl but I bet you that my 8 18s will be louder than your 15s set up I will have a 4-1 ratio fourth order you want to get louder with 18s then fourth order them takes less room on the sealed side about 2 to 2 1/2 cubes per sub and if your going to run 18s use it in a practical set up if you got a fucking neon get 12s if you have a small SUV 15s and large SUV use 18s the more room the more practical I'm going for strictly demo that's my reasoning do more research before you down shit man I had 2 15s fourthed in a blazer c pillar wall and was hitting a 152 at the dash proper built and only a 1-2 ratio and there's alot more that comes into getting louder your voltage your amps your battery's your wireing and etc do more research before you make dumb ass comments but everyone is entitled there opinion in some cases no 18s are not the way to go but if you can then by all means I hope I see you at slam next year I'll show Ya what 18s are about lol
I’m going to be pushing my soon to be two 18 inch MTX9500series subwoofers with my 2.8 twisted sounds amp in my Yukon with 26 inch rims.... can’t wait
I always ran single 18 setups in about 5.5 6 cube boxes I had 10s 12s 15s but none hit hard than my 18!

errrrrrk. im just over here going specs man specs. theil small spec
To the guy who said 18s play lower, i remember when i seen my first car install. Come to Slamology ill show you 10s that play 20hz and under.
Respect your logic
15's and 18's do have their place though, especially in classes limited by the number of subwoofers, but not cone area
