      @@DamienLeroyRUclips I had a session yesterday in 6-10kt and "getting the wing out of the way" worked a treat - I strung together sequences of 10+ foiling gybes! Gwen your tip is excellent thank you. Another tip (from Kite Surf College) that has been really helping is getting both feet close to the centreline. I feel like I might be ready to start tacking now.. thanks again! When is a good time to come and get some lessons from you guys? I am in Australia and maybe could organise a week sometime next year..

    Fantastic. Smooth slow jibe that was easy to see what you were doing. I’m finally getting most of my jibes down but this has some great tips. I’d love to see a video on how to tack. Maybe you already have one but I haven’t found it. Cheers and Thanks

    Great video again, thanks! So do you think this way is easier then switching hands over your head ( "traditional" jibe), with getting the wing out of your way...? What is better to learn first? I'm at the moment struggeling to master my foiling jibe...

    I realize my problem jibing is i am trying to jibe an switch my feet at the same time, riding toe side kiting is uncomfortable on the body, hips an knees so i usually try to avoid it. But for kite foil i will have to learn to either switch feet to toe side and then jibe or jibe onto toe side then switch feet. I am going to try what you described in another video, ride heel side on my good side (goofy) then jibe to my toe side staying toe side long enough staying on foil, then jibe again, while toe side back to my goofy foot heel side. I am also going to practice the wing jibe on the beach first. Thanks for the tips. I have tried hundreds of jibes and haven’t hit one while on foil yet. I didnt touch wing or foil until mid aug, and have had 8 days on the water between hood river and now in obx. I hope by the end of my three weeks in obx, i will have my jibes down. Larry

    The front hand is important. The palm needs to face the sky BEFORE the jibe. Than the wing will rotate by itself :) If you do the heineken jibe the palm needs to face down before the jibe. Nice Video !!!

      Look at 2:02 he corrects his front hand befor the jibe so when he lets go of the back hand the wing will turn much easier. No weird twist in the shoulder :)

    Hi Gwen,
    Beautiful! If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this video it’s the idea of guiding the wing further forward & “out of the way”.
    By my recollection, this seems to happen more naturally when going into my jibe toe-side vs. heel-side, perhaps as a result of the untwisting of my body.
    Can you comment on whether it is also advisable to steer the wing slightly upward at the same time as you guide it forward? This seems to be required for the Heineken jibe.
    Thx, -Stuart

    • @boardmaverick
      @boardmaverick Год назад +1

      Hi again, just revisiting my comment after a light wind session. Turns out that guiding the wing forward and out-of-the-way is all that was required to fix my clumsy toe-side jibes. I didn’t need to steer upwards. Spinning my 7m2 wing was easy once I had swept it forward - I didn’t even think about it, just focused on carving my turn. Thanks Gwen and Damien 🙏 . Wish I could contribute to your YouTubing efforts!

      Same thing here... as you guys mentioned it, the biggest benefit is for light wind , which means big wing (6-7m). And somehow I cannot get it to work with my 7m , so I would apreciate tips specific for large wings with huge spans

      @@maximemailloux3121 for me it doesn't change for span of wing but there are wings that are really good at doing heineken gybes and there are wings that aren't - it's much like tacking, some wings do it almost on automatic and others just don't do it well at all. So choice of wing can make your life harder or easier - I fly the 2023 Duotone Unit and it is so easy to heineken, where as the Strike V2 I previously owned was a total b*tch to heineken
