The fact that this single story from a 430-year-old epic contains shape-shifter espionage culminating in a FUCKING KAIJU BATTLE speaks volumes about how much modern literature was influenced by this book.
Don't forget the ant-man atom and ant-man thanos meme, about getting inside your opponent and causing pain or exploiting them too.
What's even more interesting to me, is the fact that the same shit we would think of now, they thought of back then. Like, who doesn't want to see a giant monkey and a giant bull throwdown in some mountains for the sake of drama beef.
There's some beauty in that, I think
@@zoyo8903 hehehehe "drama beef"!
I wonder how much of this was influenced by earlier stories of Sun Wukong and Tripitaka and the rest?🤔 Like, the Iliad and Odyssey was made out of Homer collecting stories from all over. I wonder if something similar happened with whoever wrote this.
Not enough?
"Summarized Part XI" tells you a lot about this story

@@trandaiphuc5342, in this case, "big brother" is used in a way similar to the Yakuza. Then again, calling someone big brother is also used to just refer to a guy older than you but is in the same age group.
The reason the god can summon ghost soldiers is because he was demoted to be a Tudigong, the local land deity, who not only oversee the local geographical location and it's people, but also acts a minor god of death, having an administrative role over the deaths in that area.
Think of it as the manager of a local Walmart calling security.

It’s pretty interesting how corporate and bureaucratic Chinese mythology is! Like the concepts of suing someone and paper money is very old in China thanks to how centralized and massive the imperial governments of China were for millennia, so I guess it’s no wonder it started seeping into the everyday cultural consciousness, especially for the literate and fairly affluent people of the time who would at least know one person employed in the government and also would be the likely audience for JTTW.
@@kbye2321 Recall the first few episodes where Sun Wukong destroyed the Book of Death. It's reasonable to suspect that Death got a lot of things wrong and then used this to even the books. Virtually the entire book is a satire on bureaucracy.
Land deity aka my landlord 😂
@kbye2321 we should keep jn mind that these writings weren't accessible to the general public, but for the literate gentry, of whom generally made up the population that worked within the bureaucracy, making it difficult for any would be illiterate to not comprehend why so much bureaucratic actions and processes
The escalation from “oh no volcano” to “bug espionage” to “the armies of heaven 15 different gods and Monkey fight Bull Godzilla over a big fan” is the best description of this story

Wow, Princess Iron Fan *really* gets the short straw through this whole thing for not having done anything wrong, but it's nice to see she gets a happy ending!
i guess you can say she has her "Onlyfan" with her
I feel she did wrong by not putting the fire out herself TBH - she could do it the whole time but kept getting sacrifices for it
I mean
She *was* extorting a small village over an unnatural phenomenon she had the power to stop, but chose to let remain a consistent problem so that the people would keep bringing her offerings.
@ElliotGeltz hey, can you blame her? A business is a business no matter how shady it is
@@ElliotGeltzwell, the fee she charge was not that unreasonable. She didnt ask for human sacrifice like many other yaoguai would and only ask for some meat. And she’s probably not in the best financial situation after separation and is not responsible to the fire anyway.
I swear the real proof JTTW is the original Shonen Manga is the fact that the Arcs keep getting longer and longer.
The fact that you’re not wrong, kills me
tbf, its always been this long, red has just been amping up the detail with each chapter as the story gets better and progresses
Sun screaming "SHES A LOVELY WOMAN" killed me and also "Boy I really don't deserve you, huh?"
omg the entire espionage and moment with the ex wife. The Bull King never deserved that lady >:|
Anyone know the soundtrack used at the end?
I'm glad she didn't go back to him and found happiness and fulfillment being single!
The ending was actually very wholesome. She realized that he was a jerk to her, and she needed to focus on herself to get better. The fact that she did such a great improvement within an extremely short time shows that she's an incredibly strong woman.
"oh no there's vore in this one" beautiful line, red continues to be a perfect writer
Fun fact: This is not the last time Sun Wukong gets vored
In fact there’s one specific chapter which literally plays out like some kind of vore fic where Wukong gets swallowed and kinda fucks around in the demon’s stomach for an uncomfortably long time

Which is equally funny.
Sun Wukong: *let's himself get swallowed to fight an enemy from the inside*
Me: *remembers Goku's fight with Piccolo at the 23rd Budokai* "Huh, so that's where he got it from."
What’s really interesting is that LEGO Monkie Kid handles the Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan’s relationship very differently. In the show, the two are actually very devoted to each other, to the point that Demon Bull King will threaten anyone who hurts or threatens his wife. It’s absolutely adorable, and you should all go watch the show because it’s amazing
For real
Meanwhile, in Dragon Ball's version, he eventually married their daughter.
It's my headcanon that in LMK, DBK had his own thing of bettering himself, and after however many years, got back with PIF and stayed with her from then on, promising to be better. And then they also got their Red back after a few years or so after he chilled out a bit. Lol

Ah, I see what you did there
Some version of the story when they do the remakr make the storyline a family reunion. GuangYin get the son back to calm dad and mom down and the 2 parents gotten back together.
I wonder if Iron Fan’s determination to be Buddhist is so she can see her son again
“In case of Sun Wukong Break Glass”
Bro I love that the entirety of heaven, hell and earth are all just having massive Monkey PTSD and all go full Batman Contingency for the worst case scenario.
Monkey being immediately on PIF’s side in the love triangle is hilarious to me and fully on brand. PIF was able to keep up with monkey’s fighting ability, he 100% thinks they’re friends now
For all of his failings, Monkey takes Duty rather seriously, and Filial duty was a big one for China. Throughout the pilgrimage, he's regularly going after people not just because "obstacle" but because they've committed some sort of faux pax, and ditching your wife to two time with another woman is a big one.
We've also, notably, reached the point in the story where it becomes a little harder to picture monkey as the guy who caused all that trouble. His character development is real.
@@aradraugfea6755 Yeah, him just deciding to fix the problem he caused instead of seize the means of extracting sacrifices for himself isn't something he'd have done twelve chapters ago.
@@aradraugfea6755 Honestly, Princess Iron Fan was mostly a victim lashing out at Sun Wukong after having a lot of really awful things happen to her in a row, so it seems plausible to me that once they were both calm and had had some time to think things over, they buried the hatchet and she decided she SHOULD go rethink her life choices.
Love how Sun is a generally cool if moderately chaotic guy. Like Princess Iron Fan asks "Hey I know I was antagonizing before, but I'm trying to be better about that. Can I have the fan back? It's actually kind of important to me." and after checking to make sure she's not lying Sun is like "Sure, go for it girl."
The power of character development!
I feel like Sun, of ALL PEOPLE, denying someone a second chance to mend their ways would just get permanent stink eye from the Buddha.
Which is super awkward because that means it's just everywhere, at all times, no matter where you look or go.

但是菩萨给的定风丹孙悟空自己留着了,这是他在旅程中为数不多获得的法宝
i love the depiction of princess iron fan as a tired woman with unhealthy coping methods because it's completely accurate to the book but also really funny
“Shapeshifter showdown” is one of my all time favorite tropes. It’s thankfully not an overused cliche.
Luckely not yet.
Sun Wukong screaming "SHE'S A LOVELY WOMAN" is one of the funniest things that has happened in any of these.
100%
Well compared to all other non human non Devine she acted the nicest
It's interesting that we're starting to see real growth in Sun here. He handles this whole situation by himself, the rest of the group are barely mentioned, but he handles it pretty responsibly. He's trying to do good deeds and doesn't immediately resort to violence. Seems fitting for an episode with a major boss fight.
I saw people mention on the six eared macaque episode that Sun has a noticably different behavior after the macaque situation, and that some readers wondered if theres a chance that they accidentally got rid of the real sun wukong and kept the disguised macaque 😅 I dont believe this but its funny to think about
@@Gear_StormI think it is related to macaque, but they didn’t replace him. I think when he defeated macaque it was like metaphorically defeating the evil/unnhelpful parts of him
@@Gear_Stormwukong is way too immortal to get rid of ngl
Not really, he did that way back in his gourds and bottles and ropes and fans and swords days, he dealt with every enemy without anyone else to help.
@@Gear_Storm well we did see that the six eared macaque did revert to his true form- Monkey would not have done that, but ig it’s a cool theory.
People in this universe invest way too much into defense, no one can be defeated on a solo battle, they just fight for a short eternity and than tactical retreat back to full health.
I can respect that
sounds like china in a nutshell.
Yeah, "I choose life" being a universal standard is nice 😊
I mean‚ if I was ageless‚ I'd first try to make sure I can't be defeated otherwise and THEN improve my offense. Especially when offense can so often be improved with a small celestial artifact.
I mean if you want a more "mortal" story of similar style read: Investure of gods.
The prequel to this written after it. We get to see how familiar faces became who they are today, such as how li ji(tower man and father of NeZha) got his tower, how the 4 cardinal kings went from taoist immortal sages to their current form. Aswell as many other.

Princess Iron Fan is probably my favorite JTTW character to date. She's a badass, then a mood, then the voice of reason, and then finally she's on her way to a full redemption arc. She's basically Zuko if he had a more tragic romantic subplot.
What is this, a crossover episode? They really brought together 90% of the cosmology over a couple coals and an upset bull, that's awesome
I love that wording like from now on the enemies need multiple parties to put them down or arrest them and this journey to the west is kicking the universe into high gear on what its been putting off.
Huh. I actually feel really bad for Iron Fan. She didn't deserve anything that happened to her.
Her husband ditched her for a richer and prettier woman.
Her son was taken away from her, and while he is in a safe place, she'll never see him again.
She has to constantly blow away a flaming mountain that Sun Wu Kong caused.
And her husband only came back to her when he needed her fan, not her.
I really hope all the best for her later on. Because damn, she needs a break.
Edit:
While yes, she didn't have to keep blowing away the fire, I have a feeling it's the only thing keeping her alive. She's required to sit in one place where her husband can find her. And all she asks from the villagers is a portion of their crops and livestock after. For such a raging, raving fire, it doesn't seem like it's too bad of a trade as compared to some of the other demons we've seen who demand sacrifices of the children in the villages.

@@Brian-tn4cd Oh, there is QUITE some fanfiction involving her. Though it involved altering her relationships a bit.
See, Dragonball is heavily inspired by Journey to the West, with the Ox King being the stand in for the Bull Demon King.
Now, the owner of the fan itself was altered quite a bit (Roshi had it instead of her) but there's still a girl who's related to the Bull Demon/Ox King, is stronger than she looks, wears armor, and is a princess.
Her name..is Chi Chi. And if you know anything about Dragonball, you know how her story ends up.

因为他们要经历九九八十一次劫难历练,才能取得真经,故事设定就是这样
Cause it would be cheating. the difficulty of the journey is an integral part, so Buddha would just refuse to hand the scriptures over if Wukong just magic'd everyone over.
Because Tripitaka's body is mortal and uncultivated therefore real life physic applies to him. If you load him up on cloud, gravity would constantly pulling him down and probably end up disperse/destroy the cloud (which is just a bunch of water droplets). His body would be "as heavy as Mount Tai"
He physically jumped to the edge of the universe instantly, physical distance isn’t the journey here
I'd read another comment that said the Six Eared Macaque was a manifestation of Sun Wukong's negative attributes and by killing SEM, Sun becomes way nicer in later chapters since he literally killed (at least some of) the bad parts of himself. I didn't realise just how big of a change it would be though! Obviously Red takes creative liberties with the dialogue and jokes but Sun is pretty reasonable this entire chapter. With every obstacle he tries the least violent plan first before retaliating when he gets attacked, he doesn't do any flagrant murders, he apologises to Pigsy (the most shocking thing of all) and besides making the mountain burn hotter (which isn't even entirely his fault) he doesn't directly cause too many problems.
His interactions with Iron Fan and Bull Demon King are especially noteworthy, since he's actually correct about not wanting to mess with their family. Red Boy stole Tripitaka first and Sun tried to talk it out before Red Boy attacked him (Red Boy is also VERY lucky to be alive after insulting and impersonating a bodhisattva), Red Boy's Uncle was shown mercy despite being a piece of shit out of Sun's resepct for BDK, and Iron Fan literally could've just gone with Sun to extinguish the mountain for them and none of this would've happened. I'm very intrigued to see how Sun's character progresses after this, since we've gotta be getting close to the end by now (or we could be like halfway through for all I know!)
There's actually a fun little theory that the Six-eared Macaque actually killed Wukong and was impersonating him for the rest of the book, which explains the big personality shift. It's obviously wrong (like what happened to Wukong's stacked immortality?) but it's so much fun to think about

I wish Princess Iron Fan the very best. She didn’t deserve any of that crap from her crappy husband.
Iron Fan is probably the most likable redeemable villain in the series up to now (unless you classify Sun as one, which is not *entirely* unfounded). She's good enough to have gotten a human form, doesn't use her power maliciously (Well, not fully putting out the fire is a bit scummy, but at least it isn't a full-on protection racket), has a reasonable motivation for attacking Sun (Red Boy WAS the only one left after BDK's betrayal, and while he deserved his punishment it still broke her heart), didn't even try to attack the heavenly army just because they wounded her pride and actually decided to redeem herself. I hope she and reformed Red Boy get their happy ending.
To be fair, the other villains all tried to eat Tripataka, enslaved an entire town, monopolized abortion rights or commited unrepentend thievery and copyright violation, so the bar is pretty low.
Given she apparently succeeds in her own journey, I can't help but wonder if she goes and visits her son. After all, she knows where he is and, unless there's another restriction I'm unaware of, she can actually get there with her human body.

The "kicking down the door during tea time" trope always manages to get a laugh but THIS ONE takes the cake.
Idk if its just me, but Princess Ironfan kinda reminded me of Medea. A total badass woman who got put aside by her husband who fell inlove with a, less badass woman, and at the end they both turned out better than the guys that took them for granted.
At least Princess Iron Fan decided to look inward & improve herself instead of taking it out on her only son for the sake of proxy vengeance against her unfaithful husband. Granted, Jason deserved to crash & burn HARD. But Princess Iron Fan shows a lot more restraint, which is quite odd and yet a very pleasant surprise to see in these old stories.
Couple differences. Neither Medea *nor* Jason were consenting in their relationship. Hera just said "Alright, _you._ You're this guy's woman now." And functionally forced the relationship. And Jason could only progress his quest (as far as we the audience are aware) by going along with this even when Medea gets entirely too stab-happy. His decision to court a throne-holding princess was logical given he was locked out of other routes, if not moral without telling his (again, neither side consensual) wife.
As far as I can tell here, BDK and PFI chose to be together of their own free will and had a child together. And he just... Threw it away for a pretty concubine. Not for a plot or out of any apparent love (not that would justify it, but would *explain* it) but because the bull was horny.
Listen I ain't saying Jason was right, just that BDK is worse for not even having a reason.

I’m constantly shocked at how anime this story genuinely is. Like goddamn it genuinely could be an entire series
you might enjoy Monkey Magic (1998). It chronicles Sun Wukong's (well, Son Goku) journey into immortality and subsequent fall from grace, ending with meeting Tripitaka
only 13 episodes sadly but quite a trip
Or Lego Monkie Kid! Sort of a pseudo-sequel, but it's *very* animesque, right down to the giant monsters and general insanity.
It's a bit of cause and effect, I assume. Much of anime is the way it is because of this classic story.
@juliasophical I mean, considering how much of modern shounen owes to Dragon Ball, at least one genre of anime has a pretty direct path to trace (early Dragon Ball being a VERY loose Journey to the West adaptation. I was very amused to realize Bulma of all people is effectively Tripitaka)
nobody tell them
If I aquired a dime for everythime Sun Wukong was consumed by his enemy in order to defeat them, I'd have two dimes. Which isn't much, but you think there would be more considering this guy.
We seriously need a completely accurate adaptation of Journey to the West, with all its quirks and epic battles.
real! the closest modern day thing we have would be LEGO monkie kid, but it’s not focused entirely on the JTTW, since it’s a next gen story. the bits of the JTTW we see in the show are delightful, and it’s nice that the things changed are for actual reasons and not for the sake of ‘let’s just do it for fun’ for example white bone spirit, red son and six eared macaque.
Have you ever seen the children's cartoon? It's not 100% accurate, and a lot of the murders are reduced to 'beating the demon up' to make it more suitable for kids, but it does recount the entire story

honestly really happy that after all these family shenanigans that Princess Iron Fan got to have a success tale of reself discovery and self improvement, I know she's called a princess but you go queen

Can we all appreciate how gosh dang consistent this channel is. The style, the feel, everything that made me fall in love with the first journey to the west video has remained more consistent than major TV shows. Keep in mind, that video came out over 8 years ago!
I found this channel a month ago. I've loved everything about it and I've been binging it. This was my latest binge, but I didn't look at the dates. The Playlist stopped playing and I saw the last video was made a month ago. Slightly dismayed I would have to wait a month or so, I checked the other dates. My heart sank as I saw 1 year ago, 2 years ago, 3 years ago, etc. Suiting for such an epic tale and I wouldn't have it any other way, since it is getting the love and quality it deserves. Still, I can't wait for the next installment.
This is my new all time favorite channel ever! Thank you for your amazing videos! You've brought such light and joy to my life!
Princess Iron Fan’s fan is actually a pair with Lao Tsu’s that he used against the demon with the bracelet. His fan is yang and her fan is yin.
WRONG. Laozi, in no mythology or literary text, has an Yin fan. He has literally ONE fan, which he uses for fanning the flames of his furnace. Iron Fan's fan is independent of his. It's actually a plot device inherited from older versions of the story where she's an independent wind goddess. Laozi's fan represents alchemy. Ironfan's fan represents wind. Different motifs for different deities.
@@jeanettewu2537I know he has the yin yang fan in Daoist theology, but this is a novel. Both their fans are called the banana fan, no other weapons in the novel share a name except for pairs. It's explicitly stated that his creates fire whilst hers extinguishes fire.
@@lordwind9745 Then I'll be pleased to tell you such a concept doesn't exist in the text of the novel. Nowhere in the novel are the two banana fans being connected even implied. It exists as a guess for people who haven't read earlier versions of the story. The two fans are completely independent of each other in the novel.
@@jeanettewu2537 both are called the same name, we only know the two of them in existence, one has the yin nature and one has the yang nature. Every single weapon or tool with a yin yang property either has both of them together in one object, or they are made in a pair like Nezha's yin yang swords. Since his yin yang fang doesn't exist in the novel and there is a yang fan and a yin fan, it seems unreasonable to need their connection to be explicitly spelled out.
@@lordwind9745 Yin nature and Yang nature are only used as a joke in the novel. Often Wukong mocks demons by stealing their weapons, leaving counterfeits, and then joking that the weapon he has is the "Yang" weapon, which is superior. The plot device you suggest literally does not exist in the novel. Nezha is the only one who has one Yin-Yang weapon, which is a set of double swords. No weapon in the Journey to the West is assigned an explicit Yin or Yang nature ever, except, as mentioned above, as a joke from Wukong. Please actually read the text and not spout disinformation.
I'm happy for Princess Iron Fan. I think everyone can appreciate a story where someone does some reflection and decide to be better. She really seems chilled out after all that. Good for her.
whenever red comes out with a journey to the west video im always amazed by how much her art has changed/grown like holy shit every frame in this can be printed and framed on a wall its beautiful
I love the balance between simplicity and detail
100% true. i noticed in this video her shot composition has gotten way better, it helps compliment things like the scale in the kaiju fight and body language more clearly. I am always pleasantly surprised with how much OSP raises the bar in their efforts to produce better work!
I tend to watch the playlist over again every time a new video comes out mainly to see that. I was here for the 1st one and want to see the last.
especially the kaiju battles has increased in quality , remember when the older videos didn't even have good backrounds?
If she were to start selling art panels from her videos in the OSP store, I would definitely buy a few. They're so beautiful.
Well, now we know why the Bull Demon King is usually portrayed as the big bad in most modern adaptations of JTTW. Dude's a fucking badass.

14:14 And it’s Journey To The West with the Villain Redemption trope!
Honestly though, it’s strangely sweet to see that the spiritual through-line of bettering oneself through Buddhism can apply to the villains too. We’ve seen a bit of it with Red Son I think, but to have a former villain decide to change their life for themselves and Sun Wukong encouraging that change by keeping to his word and returning the fan feels like some great development.
Wonder woman
Yeah, and whereas Demon Bull King kept being stubborn even when Princess Iron Fan pleaded enough was enough, she decided to let go of her anger and pride to become human while her husband got essentially carted off to jail.
Bit weird how goodness can be measured by form though.
@@Bezaliel13 Well that's cos in Buddhism the different forms are varying degrees of nearing purity/enlightenment, with attaining Buddhahood when you reach enlightenment (humans are middle tier in this arrangement). That's what the whole reincarnation thing is about as well - the amount/type of karma you accumulate affects your body for the next life. Them demons and spirits, being long-lived, usually won't die and reincarnate but they can cultivate themselves and transform their existing body into a higher form.

I like how in a tale where Sun solves a trouble that was at least partially caused by him showing how much he changed already and his disposition to do that he also grants the same to Princess Iron Fan by recognizing her sinceriry and giving her fan back. Like he is becoming a better person so she can as well and he is all for it.

It’s kinda funny how Monkey is being the calm voice of reason while Princess Iron Fan attacks him with everything she has (while in the past Monkey would had gone in guns blazing)

SITE!!!!
I get the distinct impression that the Bull Demon King is meant to be Sun Wukong's equal in almost every way.
So it makes sense why everyone immediately jumps in to try to stop him: They do NOT want another Monkey King situation on their hands.
In fact, that might explain why everything went so well compared to how it normally goes. Since you had not just Sun Wukong, but also an army of ghosts, powerful Buddist warriors, AND a Heaven that's been preparing itself just in case Wukong flies off the handle again, all trying to stop Bull Demon King.
He is one of Sun Wukong's peers, there is a whole set of demon kings that are his sworn brothers, and while Sun is the strongest and certainly caused the most problems- ie requiring the BUDDA to show up and stop him, the rest are almost as powerful, and just haven't caused enough of a mess to get dealt with, or they saw what happened to Wukong when HE did and have laid low in comparison to him.
So of course as soon as he starts potentially being a problem the heaven's escalate to stop him before we get another Monkey King wupping all of heaven scenario- note that it was 4 buddist figures that cornered him before the forces of heaven jump in.
@@timothycarney9652
Nah only bull demon king was actually rivaling wukong or let's say after 500 years of training while wukong was imprisoned by the buddha he become close to prime wukong when he fought the heaven however
So i see that when wukong and bull demon king become sworn brothers they were equal in power with wukong being a step above him but after wukong fought the underworld and heavens and got his other immortality he became on a different level of power in where the gap between him and bull demon king at that point was very extremely huge and even though he and the other demon kings fought alongside wukong against heaven but wukong did like 85% of the point and fought the strongest heavenly warrior erlangshen and the other celestial army while the other demon kings did 15% and maybe they have fought powerful warriors especially bull king who fought a pretty powerful warrior from heaven but not on same level as erlang , nezha and four heavenly kings
But after wukong got prison for 500 years the bull demon king train and fought for 500 years in order to reach the level of sun wukong at that time i see he truly reach his level

Yes, more Journey to the West let's go!!!! This was quite a fun episode. Gotta love some good old Wukong trying to get things done by bouncing between epic fights and sneaky infiltration and trickery time. Also love how Iron Fan got redemption at the end; that was neat.
Honestly, as someone who gets reminded of Journey to the West like, every year or so (thanks to lunar new year), I actually tune out a lot of the inbetween episodic contents, so it's really fun to rewatch it in such a simplified and modern retelling of it. Makes it so much more enjoyable than watching the usual...bad CGI drama renditions of it.
The bit about Princess Iron Fan got to me. It might be a monster of the week type story but to have a "villain" step down reflect, change and try and led a better life and actually succeed. It's something else man!
One of my favorite tropes.
She was barely a villain tbh. She married BDK had a child her child got arrested by Heaven and she’ll never see him again, BDK left her for a rich home wrecker, and the entire time she helped some farmers with a burning mountain Sun caused. She only fights Sun because he ruined what was left of her family. She gets her heart broken twice (four times if you count Sun arresting Red Boy and BDK leaving) Sun disguises himself as her husband getting her hopes up and then breaking it by tricking her and stealing the fan, she drinks herself half to death over it only for her real husband to show up not for her but for the fan. By the time it’s all over she’s had a good long think about her life.
@@fist-of-doom487 Hence me using quotations with "villain."
Well, she is still the antagonist of the arc, and one hella of good antagonist she is
"Any day you don't get kidnapped is a win for me!" is such an amazing phrase to say to one's bestie/boss 😂. And Monkey's and Iron Fan's drenched forms are adorable 🥰

I am always blown away by the art. Red's quips and summarizations are hilarious. I want this to be a full on anime with Red as an unhinged narrator, Kaguya Love is War style
Considering Sun can lift mountains and is completely immune to both normal and heavenly fire, why doesn’t he just pick up and throw the mountain somewhere else? Better yet, he very recently made his acquaintance with the God of Water and could just call on him to permanently douse the mountain.
Heavenly Fire can still hurt him, the unclear part is on whether or not it can kill him, which I'm inclined to say no.
Also because it's "cheating" basically. The same reason why they don't just fly Tripitaka to India in a minute. They have to undertake the journey at the mortal pace and face the tribulations to become better. Wukong just throwing every remotely threatening mountain aside would mean no tribulations.

The only fire that can hurt him is yin fire which is not earth or heavenly fire
@@user-te6hb8vr8k Wukong avoids being directly roasted in the Eight Trigrams Brazier by hiding in the trigram of wind where the flames are the least, which is what gives him his golden eyes as well.
"The Great Sage crawled into the space beneath the compartment that corresponded to the Xun trigram. Now Xun symbolizes wind; where there is wind, there is no fire."
We don't know if the fire would have killed him if he was stuck in direct heat, but it must have at least hurt him if he went to avoid it.
Furthermore, when Wukong tries to put out the Mountain of Flames with the fake fan, the Heavenly fire burns him. He then says he needs fire-repelling magic beforehand to avoid being burnt by this.
"He tried for a third time and the fire leaped ten thousand feet tall, roaring toward him. [Wukong] dashed away but already the hair on both his thighs was completely burnt off"
[...]
"With a chuckle, [Pigsy] said, "You have often made the claim that you can be hurt neither by thunder nor by fire. How is it that you are afraid of fire now?"
"Oh, Idiot!" said [Wukong]. "You just don't know anything! On those occasions, I was always prepared, and therefore I could not be hurt. Today I was only trying to extinguish the fire with the fan, and I did not even make the fire-repellant sign, nor did I use magic to protect my body."
Later on in the story, he runs afoul of three demon kings, one of whom happens to basically be the most powerful demon in the entire setting. Said demon, the Great Peng, has a treasure vase whose internal magic is described thus:
"Its magic reactions inside were activated by the seven jewels, the eight trigrams, and the twenty-four solar terms."
The fire hurts him severely and he straight up thinks he's going to die because he uses all 3 of Guanyin's get-out-of-jail-free leaves at once to escape this situation.
"He had hardly finished speaking when he felt some pain on his shanks. Rubbing them hurriedly with his hand, he found his shanks were turning flaccid because of the fire. More and more anxious, he thought to himself, "What's to become of me? Even my shanks are weakened by the fire."

Agreed
This story has so many moments of "well, that escalated quickly" starting from a fire mountain blocking the way, to battles between armies, to kaiju fights, and an indirect intervention from the Buddha to boost. Also, I find it's funny that sometime problems are solved because Wukong's reputation precede him, and sometimes people decided to pick fight with the only Monkey that fought the full force of Heaven and was winning.
The Bull Demon King turns-out to be a-lot like the "Single-Horned Rhinoceros King" (later revealed to actually be another Bull, the "Green/Azure Buffalo-Bull"), back in Part VIII; both Bull Demons with all 'fighting words' but no stamina, seeing as they both would keep entering *into* fights... only to get tired every time and run-away...
