It's only now, watching GB news replace the original faces with younger, more generic ones, that I realise what an interesting, eccentric and eclectic bunch they gathered together in the early days. Neil Oliver, Mark Dolan, Andrew Doyle, Nana Akua, Bev Turner et al. It was a brave experiment. I think, in years to come, viewers will remember the early days of GB news as the high point for the station. For all of the teething problems it suffered. And it seemed like a case of "come the hour, come the station" because GB News was the only station asking the questions that mattered during the pandemic. Thousands of people up and down the country were collectively sensing that - virus or no virus - something truly dodgy was going down. GB News reassured them that they weren't alone and that they weren't insane. That was no small thing at the time.
I was gutted when I heard you had been given the Spanish Archer at GB News. You were a good fit for that time slot. I will keep an eye out for you here next year. Have a fun filled festive season.

I have to say, that I have been watching GB News since day one and I really haven’t been enjoying watching recently. GB News has felt steadily watered down as time has gone on, which is a shame as during the dark days of recent history, GB News’ punchy, unapologetic, dare I say revolutionary broadcasting gave a ray of hope that one wasn’t alone. Come on ! There is no explanation here whatever for why Mark has been fired. Obviously his former employers have got him to sign some sort of non disclosure agreement and he has complied. Dan Wootten was honest about why he was dismissed. Mark is hiding a lot -- and he is not even being open about the fact that he is doing so. Not a great start for a show that promises to be open and fearless.
It’s been reported elsewhere that it was due to his viewing figures (partly why he spent some time in this video pointing to times he has achieved high numbers of views). Maybe not consistently high enough for the management’s liking I guess.
Really want to like him. But after the Dan issue and Mark piling on I considered him a bit of a snake. He’s full of himself. Not likeable like Dan Wootton.

Sadly, it's probably down to money rather than anything that Mark has done or not done. The well publicised problem that GB News has had, and continues to experience with trying to raise advertising revenue must be an issue for the management. Hopefully, advertisers will realise that there is a BIG audience with the 'readies' that can be reached through GB News, and get on-board rather than taking the easy option of caving to the likes of 'Hope not Hate' - a contradiction in terms if ever there was one!
Hope Not Hate is the reason why you think advertisers don't want to buy airtime on GB News? Maybe the _"BIG audience"_ isn't anywhere near as big as you think it is, especially when the evidence suggests people who watch TV would rather watch people poncing around on Strictly Come Dancing than watch the dude with the Bobby Charlton on a rant in an echo chamber to no one. For example, on the 4th Dec 2024, the Press Gazette stated that between 0600 - 0200, the average viewing figures was 70,430 live views per day over the course of a month. In a population of about 70,000,000 people, 70,000 will watch GB News for a bit, so about 1 in 1000 people. That's about 0.1% of the population with the other 99.9% not wasting their time with it. Splitting those figures over the 20 hour period works out to about 3500 people watching per hour, assuming that all 70000 aren't watching it for 20 hours or so. Of course, this doesn't account for variation, so when Der Fuhrage is on, those figures will be higher, when Dolan is on, not so much. Even -Der Sturmer- The Express said his viewing figures were "not good." Is that less than 3500 people watching Dolan do you think? So why would GB News continue to pay an utter failure like him? Why would companies waste their money advertising on a loss making TV channel that only a few hard core far right nutters watch? Maybe they don't want their brands smeared by association with the far right given how damaging it is, after all, they don't soil their brands advertising on Twitter anymore do they? Look at the financial damage that Gillette took after their disastrous woke ad campaign. Companies are learning that leaning too far one way or another on political issues is suicide. Unless you're Musk of course. And as for a _"BIG audience"?_ Yeah, if you say so.

Come on ! There is no explanation here whatever for why Mark has been fired. Obviously his former employers have got him to sign some sort of non disclosure agreement and he has complied. Dan Wootten was honest about why he was dismissed. Mark is hiding a lot -- and he is not even being open about the fact that he is doing so. Not a great start for a show that promises to be open and fearless.

Agreed. I watched it to hear the reason and one wasn’t given.
It’s been reported elsewhere that it was due to his viewing figures (partly why he spent some time in this video pointing to times he has achieved high numbers of views). Maybe not consistently high enough for the management’s liking I guess.
Really want to like him. But after the Dan issue and Mark piling on I considered him a bit of a snake. He’s full of himself. Not likeable like Dan Wootton.

Sadly, it's probably down to money rather than anything that Mark has done or not done. The well publicised problem that GB News has had, and continues to experience with trying to raise advertising revenue must be an issue for the management. Hopefully, advertisers will realise that there is a BIG audience with the 'readies' that can be reached through GB News, and get on-board rather than taking the easy option of caving to the likes of 'Hope not Hate' - a contradiction in terms if ever there was one!

Maybe the _"BIG audience"_ isn't anywhere near as big as you think it is, especially when the evidence suggests people who watch TV would rather watch people poncing around on Strictly Come Dancing than watch the dude with the Bobby Charlton on a rant in an echo chamber to no one. For example, on the 4th Dec 2024, the Press Gazette stated that between 0600 - 0200, the average viewing figures was 70,430 live views per day over the course of a month. In a population of about 70,000,000 people, 70,000 will watch GB News for a bit, so about 1 in 1000 people. That's about 0.1% of the population with the other 99.9% not wasting their time with it.
Splitting those figures over the 20 hour period works out to about 3500 people watching per hour, assuming that all 70000 aren't watching it for 20 hours or so. Of course, this doesn't account for variation, so when Der Fuhrage is on, those figures will be higher, when Dolan is on, not so much. Even -Der Sturmer- The Express said his viewing figures were "not good." Is that less than 3500 people watching Dolan do you think?
So why would GB News continue to pay an utter failure like him? Why would companies waste their money advertising on a loss making TV channel that only a few hard core far right nutters watch? Maybe they don't want their brands smeared by association with the far right given how damaging it is, after all, they don't soil their brands advertising on Twitter anymore do they? Look at the financial damage that Gillette took after their disastrous woke ad campaign. Companies are learning that leaning too far one way or another on political issues is suicide. Unless you're Musk of course. And as for a _"BIG audience"?_ Yeah, if you say so.
