    Love the clarity and patience that Justin puts into his lessons. Nothing is ever glossed over or rushed.

    “Flick off” is a great description of the action rather than years of inaudible pull offs. 👍

    I once saw Les Paul when he used to appear at the Iridium in NYC. That night he gave a visiting guest guitarist a playful hard time because he didn't know what legato was. Now I finally know what he meant. Thanks Justin!

    This is great basic technique advice. It kind of speaks to what I was on about last week, in response to Justin's "What RU practicing 2day?" thing, which for me was the cascading pentatonic thingy.. I love watching basic technique stuff. Nobody is too big for thier boots to benefit from such sound (pun there, see what I did there?) advice. Nice one Justin. 🎶👏👍

    Great lead technique. I usually do a series of 4 notes because it sounds faster. A guitar with a low action really allows your fingers to fly.

    Finger strength is key. I learned that 25 years ago. Must workout too. Helps with grip

      Yep - if you following the course you would have been doing Finger Gym for a few months before hitting this!

    Hey Justin. Great advice 👏🏼 I only play acoustic guitar so I’m wondering if there is anything different you might suggest for us? I notice most YT guitar teachers showing scales and solo building blocks do so on electric guitars.

    Great sidebar on the angle fingers and that whole use of the third finger instead of the fourth. Finger selection is somethings I always ponder with. I do well with my pinky even in string bending but all of my heroes use their third or even their second ( Frank Marino) on bends. It's good explore both. I tend to use the third more as I go up the boxes up the neck like the E box at the 12th on up. There it seems a lot more right but a lick using the blue note on the G string in a 3 note sequence isn't quite as smooth ie going 3rd to 2nd and whole tone down to one. But I probably need to practice that too

    Great lesson! One question I have is I notice many of your videos (and many other teacher's videos) where minor pentatonic is involved, it is always using position 1. Is position 1 used most by guitarists or is it just better for demonstrating concepts?

    • @justinguitar
      @justinguitar  2 года назад +1

      Good question!
      Pattern 1 is very accessible, very easy to learn, has options for lots of quick licks and improv ideas.
      Cheers 😊

    Do hammer ons and flick offs only work on electric guitars, or can you use them on acoustic guitars as well?

    • @justinguitar
      @justinguitar  2 года назад +1

      Yes, they work on acoustic. Electric guitars through amplifiers have the advantage of amplification of the sound but you should be able to hear them on acoustic, perhaps quiet at first but perseverance will pay off.
      Cheers 😊

    Ah so that’s why blues players fingers look different in the high string riffs? Blues finger? Using three fingers angled instead of the pinky?
