I got the extension tube and the 10440 battery and it last alot longer and it's about 200 more lumens!! Get the extension tube man..I don't doubt it will reach out to 450- 500 meters now! It's definitely much better.

Well done on another great video & I'm very surprised that you don't have more subs than you do cause i feel you offer way more info than other channels that i follow. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

    bought (2) 10440 tube with (4) 10440 3.7 350mah Batts. I
have no way of testing like you, but my extensions are lumintop
made and branded. both lights seem to work great with them.

Hi, I have the nano and just got the extension tube. I noticed you used max ramp but not turbo. My Nano has double click for turbo. Maybe when people put a high drain battery they get the blue led...I see where I can get a 3a vapcell or blue jacket cells that are icr not high drain but wondered if you can still access turbo with them. Yours doesn't appear to be high drain. Thanks, cheers.

The only thing I wish they'd have done differently, is to make the head wall thickness, thinner. It could have been 1.5-3mm smaller in diameter had Lumintop not made it unnecessarily beefy.

Yes, 2.84 volts is over-discharging the cell. But the cell is not damaged beyond use or unsafe. But peace of mind is a different subject altogether and it carries more weight; I would have done exactly the same as you and play it safe. A fresh battery means you can sleep soundly at night not listening for that hiss... Bang!
The Samsung factory recommended operating voltage range from the datasheet for lithium cells are:
    OK
    - Normal Operation Voltage: 2.5 to 4.2
    - Over Discharging Voltage: 1.5 to 2.5
    NOT OK
    - Cell Un-useable Under Voltage: 0.0 to 1.5
    - Cell Un-useable Over Voltage: over 4.25
If the cell is discharged less than 1.5 Volt DO NOT USE and dispose of safely.
If the cell is charged greater than 4.25 Volt DO NOT USE and dispose of safely.
But the story doesn't end there. These Samsung data sheet values are derived from cells under load(drawing current from the cell). This means that the values are lower than when cells are unloaded(open voltage).
It can be seen that a loaded voltage of 2.5 volt will immediately jump up to 3.3 volt when the load is removed and slowly reach 3.4 volt after 1 hour.
So at 3.3 volt when a cell is measured with no load, they are fully discharged to their safe minimum value.
You are correct, 2.84 volts is over-discharging the cell. But the cell is not damaged. It requires the cell to charged with pre-charging, when the voltage is low the battery must not be charged at full current. A reduced current must be used. But this is feature built into all good quality chargers. When a battery is discharged to this low voltage it may lose some capacity and will lose some lifetime, but is still perfectly serviceable.

  • @shadowmaster8020
    @shadowmaster8020 3 года назад +1

You can delete a battery to 2.5 v and then, when it drops below that, it's unsafe. Not the best for the internal resistance but it's nothing that's going to take like 50 charge cycles off the battery (as far as I know).
I would post proof of studies on NCA lithium ion but RUclips won't allow me.
I have not seen any proof that dropping below 3v is unsafe or substantial.

It would be really cool if they'd come out with a necked-down tube for 14500s. Would leave a lot more options and capacity for only a little bit more length. I'd like to get this one. The head's big enough on this one it's even larger on the next size up. But tiny little battery. Or if they could just have this head on the Micro.

The issue was suggested to be the ampage of a 10440 driving the led to hard, whereas the 10180's have a 'self limitation' in terms the ampage they can chuck out.
Its certainly true the average 10440 can deliver more amps than a 10180 - but like you I wondered if it would make any difference. So far, and I'm still using it, it appears not.
