  • Time for a new book review!
Today is a novel with BIG themes of love, jealousy, family, relationships, ego, patriarchy, all around the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.
Evelyn Hugo, a famous Hollywood star and a recluse is ready to tell the truth about her life and loves and seeks out Monique to write her memoirs. Through the book, we learn about the life and ambitions of Evelyn. This is a love story; a romance novel with a big twist in the end that you may not have seen coming.
    Lesson for me?
Well, despite begrudgingly understanding WHY Evelyn asked Monique (I can't say anymore without spoilers), there's still something where I question a specific action she undertook in the past which was immoral. It is that action that I could not come to terms with and that I kept churning around in my mind.
This would be a great book club book and indeed, at the back of the book you'll find some questions that you can ask your fellow book clubbers for an interesting discussion.
Have you read this book? What are your thoughts?

Think we enjoy same books , i had the book on shelf for ages putting off reading but once started loved the old Hollywood life touch on real life during those times. Once again qustions leaves impression thinking thats what a book should do.

Like Lessons in Chemistry, it was another fun read for 2023. After some heavy books, I needed something that was a page turner and engrossing. I wonder what reads in 2024 will be like that? 🤔

I can't understand all the good reviews, I hated this book! The writing is bad, some of the dialogues are so juvenile. I didn't care for the story either, to me this just bad chick lit.

Fair call. It’s not literature for sure but it was a quick and engaging read. Im surprised at how this book seems to be in many book clubs.

I thought I was the only one. I didn't get the hype at all. I was promised a 1950s-60s setting and it felt like it was just set in the 90s. And the time when the two main characters was so corny. It didn't feel like how adults at that time would communicate. It was engaging at some parts but the seven husbands bit became too repetitive and ridiculous.
