Hi I'm not sure if you can help me but i will tell you what problem i got with my CEM I start to replace my polen filter and i forget to take the battery off because to get there i got to take the CEM off . And i unplugged all the plugs with the battery on and i plugged them in with the battery on so now i will give you a list with what doesn't work on my car First of all in my dash i got this message alarm service required Second my rain sensor don't work ,and my day/night mirror it doesn't auto dimming the headlights from other cars And all 3 faults they are linked together Do you think could you help me with this ? Hi Have you try now that everything is plugged in again, disconnect the battery and connect it again? Also make sure everything is plugged in correctly, and that you have not bent any pins when plugging it back in... Check that all the fuses are ok, a spike while plugging it could burn a fuse... Did you connect to both of the motrorla chips like the one you have in the video? So you repeat the steps and solder the connections to the second chip and read? And thats about it?
hi man, i bought a s40 2005 t5 auto on auction, the radio dont come on, the central locking dont work and also windwos don come up or down. when i scan it says no signal, i suspected its the CEM, from what am gathering i think the previous owner replaced the CEM but never coded it, now what can i do as i dont have the original CEM for the car, i also noticed when i removed the CEM inside there is a blown Relay on the board. What can i do? Can i get a 2nd hand one in the car and how do i get it coded?

They are two completely different modules... ECM controls the engine functions, etc... CEM controls body functions... However, they communicate immo functions and other things... Like AC etc... Thank you for watching and for your comment!

I have problem with my key fob . Basically my key lost connection with cem I can start a car with no problem but I cant lock or unlock the doors . I swapped second hand cem with another keys and was fine . I back now to my old cem . My question is what I need to do now because I know If I swap chips to another cem will not work because vin numbers different could you help ?

Ok... I think you are confused here... 1-You put another CEM on the car, and remote works with the keys that came with that same CEM. This is obviously, the keys came programmed to that cem, so they work, doing that thought, proved that there is nothing wrong electrically with the car, which is good! 2-Your original CEM, with your original keys, starts the car but not the central locking... So, yes, you can have a problem with the CEM, but, have you 100%, 200%, 1000000000% ruled out the actually remote as being the problem? You most likely can open the key, might be difficult but not impossible... however, there is cheap testers out there that can see if the key is transmitting just by pressing the buttons... no need to open the key... I already changed the dash wiring harness, but i need to change the CEM and program it. Is there an easier way to do this? +lkim08 Hi You need to copy the flash and the EEPROM from both processors. One of the processors is protected, so you need the adapter in order to bypass the protection... Its all in the video... Thank you for watching!

OK... My checks would be, first make sure the key is actually working, not the remote, but the transponder... From there, make sure the coil is getting power to read the key... Check wiring, connections etc... The keyless module on that, if I recall correctly, is a slave module of the CEM, I think is called RRX... But, the car should still star with the key in the ignition even if there is an issue with the keyless system...

So I want to do resistance test on Immobiliser pins ECU pin A13(E1) , Immobiliser control module pin 1 and keyless control module pin B20 So my point is I don't know the so called Immobiliser control module (E19) According to Haynes pro data information and keyless control module (E46) So if I knew it could definitely know something different

Correct... but the module would come back to life... allowing you to flash it again etc... I never had that situation... and I am just suggesting what I think you can try...

Thanks for the quick response. Actually, this car came to me from another garage. Even the old CEM doesn't work,in other words, has the same fault. And when I installed the new CEM, the lights and windows were working well, but when i swapped the immobilizer, then the said symptoms kicked in. Can Volvo VIDA clone solve this?

@@LMAutoRepairs unfortunately it drowned via plugged sunroof drains. The car has no communication with various modules and a long list of volvo specific codes associated with that fault .
thanks for the video. I have managed to copy accessories MCU but could not read main (immo) ECU from the original car. xprog got stuck in authorisation phase and nothing happens. I actually managed to read main MCU from the donor car without BDM adapter. Initially I though I had a problematic adapter so I have it changed but problem still the same. Any ideas? Trying to read MC9S12DT256 using 0L01Y mask.

Hi My programmer is clone. The xprog software does not have an exact match of the processors of the video either, although was a compatible option in there. I know that some other types of CEM come with other processors, which xprog can't read. For that you need another type of programmer.
Not to be flip, but good job Volvo - you took a brand with a reputation for being bullet proof, die hard vehciles and made them into consumer "yuppie" status symbols to be replaced every 5 years per income requirements. Please note that even though it seems possible to make these repairs cloning the CEM, is it REALLY appropriate for vehicles that are 10+ years old?! Shouldn't there be a time period after which the so-called security protection hurdles to interchanging parts are lifted. The case of these cars shows that even when you have so-called "right to repair" (as the information is out there), no garage really wants to do this in the USA because it can't be found on a checklist or guaranteed per a "established manufacturer procedure". So you can find a shop that might perform the service by taking your CEM and shipping it to Canada to be reprogrammed, but that's about it. So make room in the landfill for more of these cars!
Yes both processors. Three times we checked. And same thing again. Steering wheel lock and desktop information. Isn't it better to transfer a damaged cem to a new cem?
If I assume old cem, the immobilizer works normally. There I had a problem that it started with the message about the brake malfunction ... Then the clock indicators stopped to light up. When I hit it lightly, it all returned to normal, and finally stopped shining. Does the immobilizer have locks to be able to copy it?

I was almost sure that copying eeproms would be enough to do the job .Another method that should work is to just swap MCU 's , when adequate programmer is not avalaible.
Imsvvar-: I have a problem with s40 cem just like you have in the video, I got used cem and trying to write virgin file to it, but yet still the donor car still shows the old vin, when I try to perform reload to it, please which other will can I use to make sure the donor vin is completely off and won't be access by scan tool or during vehicle readout on vida.. Which chip at all contain the vin for this type of cem..
Js Cons Hi I can't remember exactly which of the MCU'S contain the VIN... perhaps both... I have copied both eproms... that was the only way to have all the settings and VIN transferred front the original CEM into the donor one... Hope that helps...

Ive another used CEM but the dealer cant reinstall the software because it hasnt an empty eeprom, so my answer is: if I write full F's in both eeproms of the secondary CEM should I can install it? Jesús Márquez Galán Hi That's a good question.... The volvo machine (vida Dice) only scans and adapts/coding... to program you need to have an account and go online... So I don't have experience on programming volvos... I am not sure as well if a new CEM comes with blank eproms or if there is anything pre-programmed... If the dealer is happy to attempt, I would do that... empty the eproms and see if the dealer can then adapt the module... You can Google to see if anyone knows a bit more about it... Either way would be interesting to know the outcome if you empty the chips and get the dealer to finish the job... Sorry if I couldn't be more helpful...

The full story of my issue is i swapped out the engine and needed to reprogram the immobiliser so i bought a Kess before i posted my question to you but i had problems with it, there was no option to read the eeprom only the ecu/pcu so i got brave and tried to remove to eeprom chip (hoping to swap it over) but I broke a leg off from it due my inexperience so now im sure its unreadable so have order a x prog as i guess the information to reprogram the new/replacement ecu/pcu is still on the cem lets hope i get it right this time lol I have also order BDM Frame With 4 Probe Pen plus extra set of probe pens so hopefully i dont need to remove any chips this time, Kind regards and much respect
Which eeprom is on that engine ecu? Even with a broken leg, I can still be able to read it... Can then put the data on a new eeprom, and then a you have to do is solder that on the ecu... But one question, why did you have to change the ecu due to change the engine? The ecu would control a replacement engine no problem... providing was like for like...
@@LMAutoRepairs Thank you for your reply i really do appreciate it i know how busy life can be mate sorry i am just replying back ive had family stuff going on i had opened up both ECUs and they are different but only by one chip i then managed to find out that the replacement engine/ecu was from a 2008 car that did not have EDRIVE so though this might be why the replacement engine would not run on my original ecu which was from my 2010 car with EDRIVE I had some time yesterday to investigate why the original ecu from my car was not working with my like for like engine swap as you asked and i also was confused by that and i was not 100% its was because of the EDRIVE difference between the 2 engines/ecu the direction i went down was the take a closer look at the engine wiring loom plug where it connects to the relay/fuse box under the engine bay and i discovered that the wiring colours are different on the replacement engine to the original engine wiring loom but that it has exactly the same amount of plugs to connect to the engine components which i had checked before swapping the engine So all i done was fit the original engine wiring loom to the replacement engine then tried the original ecu again (the one with the broken leg) and it started and runs fine lol obviously i not happy with myself about the broken leg on the eeprom but it seams to be good strangely enough I really do respect all the work you do on your channel as im sure we all do mate.........thank you so so so much !!!!! I hope you make good money for doing them you really do deserve to...... peace an love to you.......

serdar aydin Hi Anti Skid is basically the ESP system... That can be caused by a fault on the system itself, or a fault with the engine... as the ESP rely on engine torque condition. Turbo faults for example can cause anti Skid faults as well... Any other faults? Have you scanned the car?
hi Imsvvavr yes i did couplle of times... it gives -high turbo pressure -egr -anti skid -every time we scan , clean and reset starts and drive ok... but if i go up 80-100 km / hour it comes back first as anti skid. and after less engine power appears... then i cant go abowe 3000 tours...

I checked the VCC Pin connection and it seems to be connected fine. I tried it on both chip sets and both give me the same error. Hello Imsvvavr, and thanks for responding, I really appreciate you doing so. The xprog I got did not come with the external power supply. I read in some places that you shouldn't use an external power supply with the xprog. Is that not correct? What voltage should I use for the xprog if I do try connecting an external power supply, nowhere on the xprog does it tell me what voltage it takes?
Body Of Gods Right, where you connect the COM or USB cable, there is a place to connect a power supply... You need that, as the power supplied by the communication cable will not be enough to power the chips as well... Use a standard 12 dc power supply... That's all...

Hi First, thank you for watching my video! Now, you are asking a bit of random questions... First things first... Which parts of you car have you lost power? If, and only if you are 100% sure that the CEM is faulty you should go forward with the replacement. Now and as per my video, if you replace it with a second hand one, you need to do what I show on the video... And yes, should resolve the issue. As for the volvo update, are you talking about a software upgrade, or volvo to change the CEM for you? If is a software upgrade will not solve the problem if the CEM is faulty electrically, if the problem is a corrupted software, then it might fix it, either way, how do not know the dealer fees. Hope that helps.

Hi Yes, the radio does not work if the VIN doesn't match... at least in this car... What I have done was copying the flash and eeprom from both processors... That solved the problem, and also the coding... because obviously by copying everything all the settings are transferred. It will not work though if the original data is corrupted...
Erm... let me rephrases. You are saying the radio doesn't work with new CEM. Then by copying both the motorola EEPROM to new CEM then everything work flawlessly? Hi Imsvvavr, I got my xprog-m v5.55 and manage to read my CEM and i've write my new CEM with existing file. However, my car didn't manage to start. I had no idea y as i've read both eeprom n flash of the CEM. However, i do notice something when i'm reading both eeprom n flash, there's a prompt message asking to continue to verify error. N of course i apply yes to all. I'm not sure i miss anything. More over, ver5.55 doesn't have my motorola brand MPU stated, i'm using something like z100s but the mask is matching with the model stated. In which i read without any issue. just no idea wat shall i do now.

Danny B Hi Not quite... As in previous replies, there is other things that would not match your car.... You couldn't really follow the procedure from the video, as that would also remove the cruise control setting... Not sure if that is a completely software update, or a simple coding... if it is a simple coding setting, vida can do it... You can get old of vida... Someone might know... Sorry if I couldn't be more helpful...
The CEM is loaded at the factory with the software modules for the options specified for the car, and the configuration is stored in Volvo's database against the VIN. In the case of a 'prep' option, the module is loaded but not enabled. If the owner then wants that option retrofitted, the installation kit includes the extra hardware, and the software download is usually just a small config file that enables the software module in the CEM, which will then use the new hardware. I am sure if cruise control is already loaded and not enabled or it might need to download from Volvo try play with VADIS/VCT2000 let us know if is any luck. I am working on mine how to enable Rain Sensor in CEM.

Yes, when I turn on the lights, flashing lights all my my cabin , and 3 times faster, then shakes my engine and off ... this only happens if I turn on the lights , if not I turn I have no problem with the engine or the car works well ... but the question is that when I turn the lights all flashing inside the cabin and heard as clicks in the fuse box ...
Ok, although it might points to the CEM, it can be something else making the CEM to behave like that. Disconnect the plug/wires that go the lights that are causing the problem, try to rule out any wiring issues... From the top of my head I can't remember if the relay for the lights is external or internal on the CEM, if is not internal remove it... see what happens...
+rugalito That's what I was saying... disconnect from the CEM the circuit that's giving you the problems... If then the problem goes away you know that's not the CEM but the circuit... Hope it makes sense...
Hi, I have a 2006 Volvo V50 2.0D and I followed this tutorial to replace the old CEM with a 2004 Volvo S40 CEM. I flashed both motorola processors eeprom (secured) and flash (secured). I noticed that one of two processors was different from one CEM to the other. Once programmed (with Xprog 5.55) the car gives me the SRS airbag error and the engine does not start. Furthermore, all the car accessories work (radio, windows, etc.), and Vida recognises the car as a V50. Maybe I forgotten something? Or maybe I had to bought a 2006 CEM? Any help would be appreciated.
Yes, all went without any errors, I think the problem might be because the replacement CEM (2004 S40) is incompatible. You programmed the CEM and all went perfect? I think I will look for a 2006 V50 CEM. Thanks for the replies!

Hi My friend copied from old ECU to a new one. But car doesn't start. I think the immobile data is not copied from the old to new ones. Where is immobile data for xc90 2004? I read that the data is in CEM module, so we have to transfer the data to ECU to match both. Could you let me the detail method?
Александр Крюков Exactly... you got it... That's why if you copy only the immo one, the car starts but other things don't... such as the radio and other optional features... if you copy both, you will make a clone of the original... so everything work as it should...

The chip has usually a dot or a angle cut corner to mark pin 1...

I start to replace my polen filter and i forget to take the battery off because to get there i got to take the CEM off .
And i unplugged all the plugs with the battery on and i plugged them in with the battery on so now i will give you a list with what doesn't work on my car

Second my rain sensor don't work ,and my day/night mirror it doesn't auto dimming the headlights from other cars
And all 3 faults they are linked together

Have you try now that everything is plugged in again, disconnect the battery and connect it again?
Also make sure everything is plugged in correctly, and that you have not bent any pins when plugging it back in...
Check that all the fuses are ok, a spike while plugging it could burn a fuse...
That failing, you might need to scan it to see what is in there...

hi man, i bought a s40 2005 t5 auto on auction, the radio dont come on, the central locking dont work and also windwos don come up or down. when i scan it says no signal, i suspected its the CEM, from what am gathering i think the previous owner replaced the CEM but never coded it, now what can i do as i dont have the original CEM for the car, i also noticed when i removed the CEM inside there is a blown Relay on the board. What can i do? Can i get a 2nd hand one in the car and how do i get it coded?

Anyway newer design key looks more like one piece I can open really without breaking key.I have replaced key battery and I have scanned cem module with tester and cem status for remote saying something like wrong value. Ok... I think you are confused here...
1-You put another CEM on the car, and remote works with the keys that came with that same CEM.
This is obviously, the keys came programmed to that cem, so they work, doing that thought, proved that there is nothing wrong electrically with the car, which is good!
2-Your original CEM, with your original keys, starts the car but not the central locking...
So, yes, you can have a problem with the CEM, but, have you 100%, 200%, 1000000000% ruled out the actually remote as being the problem?
You most likely can open the key, might be difficult but not impossible... however, there is cheap testers out there that can see if the key is transmitting just by pressing the buttons... no need to open the key... Providing the "burned" CEM did not damaged the two MCUs, you can just swap them... all the info is on those 2 chips... If you have the tools, you can also do as per the video... Hope that helps.

My checks would be, first make sure the key is actually working, not the remote, but the transponder...
From there, make sure the coil is getting power to read the key...
Check wiring, connections etc...
The keyless module on that, if I recall correctly, is a slave module of the CEM, I think is called RRX...
But, the car should still star with the key in the ignition even if there is an issue with the keyless system...

Actually, this car came to me from another garage. Even the old CEM doesn't work,in other words, has the same fault. And when I installed the new CEM, the lights and windows were working well, but when i swapped the immobilizer, then the said symptoms kicked in.

@@LMAutoRepairs unfortunately it drowned via plugged sunroof drains. The car has no communication with various modules and a long list of volvo specific codes associated with that fault .
Additionally..no gauges, no start, no turn over. It basically acts like there no power to anything and no immobilser "handshake".

I actually managed to read main MCU from the donor car without BDM adapter. Initially I though I had a problematic adapter so I have it changed but problem still the same. Any ideas? My programmer is clone.
The xprog software does not have an exact match of the processors of the video either, although was a compatible option in there.
I know that some other types of CEM come with other processors, which xprog can't read.
For that you need another type of programmer.
Not to be flip, but good job Volvo - you took a brand with a reputation for being bullet proof, die hard vehciles and made them into consumer "yuppie" status symbols to be replaced every 5 years per income requirements. Please note that even though it seems possible to make these repairs cloning the CEM, is it REALLY appropriate for vehicles that are 10+ years old?! Shouldn't there be a time period after which the so-called security protection hurdles to interchanging parts are lifted. The case of these cars shows that even when you have so-called "right to repair" (as the information is out there), no garage really wants to do this in the USA because it can't be found on a checklist or guaranteed per a "established manufacturer procedure". So you can find a shop that might perform the service by taking your CEM and shipping it to Canada to be reprogrammed, but that's about it. So make room in the landfill for more of these cars!

Your problem might not be the CEM then...
How have you diagnosed a bad CEM?
If I assume old cem, the immobilizer works normally. There I had a problem that it started with the message about the brake malfunction ... Then the clock indicators stopped to light up. When I hit it lightly, it all returned to normal, and finally stopped shining. Does the immobilizer have locks to be able to copy it?

Imsvvar-: I have a problem with s40 cem just like you have in the video, I got used cem and trying to write virgin file to it, but yet still the donor car still shows the old vin, when I try to perform reload to it, please which other will can I use to make sure the donor vin is completely off and won't be access by scan tool or during vehicle readout on vida..
Which chip at all contain the vin for this type of cem..

I can't remember exactly which of the MCU'S contain the VIN... perhaps both... I have copied both eproms... that was the only way to have all the settings and VIN transferred front the original CEM into the donor one...

My car has a CEM linked to another car (different VIN, etc...) the last owner changed it. Ive another used CEM but the dealer cant reinstall the software because it hasnt an empty eeprom, so my answer is: if I write full F's in both eeproms of the secondary CEM should I can install it?

That's a good question....
The volvo machine (vida Dice) only scans and adapts/coding... to program you need to have an account and go online...
So I don't have experience on programming volvos...
I am not sure as well if a new CEM comes with blank eproms or if there is anything pre-programmed...
If the dealer is happy to attempt, I would do that... empty the eproms and see if the dealer can then adapt the module...
You can Google to see if anyone knows a bit more about it...
Either way would be interesting to know the outcome if you empty the chips and get the dealer to finish the job...

Does not read generic chips like CEM etc...

The full story of my issue is i swapped out the engine and needed to reprogram the immobiliser so i bought a Kess before i posted my question to you but i had problems with it,
there was no option to read the eeprom only the ecu/pcu so i got brave and tried to remove to eeprom chip (hoping to swap it over) but I broke a leg off from it due my inexperience so now im sure its unreadable so have order a x prog as i guess the information to reprogram the new/replacement ecu/pcu is still on the cem lets hope i get it right this time lol
I have also order BDM Frame With 4 Probe Pen plus extra set of probe pens so hopefully i dont need to remove any chips this time, Kind regards and much respect

Even with a broken leg, I can still be able to read it...
Can then put the data on a new eeprom, and then a you have to do is solder that on the ecu...
But one question, why did you have to change the ecu due to change the engine?
The ecu would control a replacement engine no problem... providing was like for like...

sorry i am just replying back ive had family stuff going on
i had opened up both ECUs and they are different but only by one chip i then managed to
find out that the replacement engine/ecu was from a 2008 car that did not have EDRIVE
so though this might be why the replacement engine would not run on my original ecu
which was from my 2010 car with EDRIVE
I had some time yesterday to investigate why the original ecu from my car was not working with my like for like engine swap as you asked and i also was confused by that and i was not 100% its was because of the EDRIVE difference between the 2 engines/ecu
the direction i went down was the take a closer look at the engine wiring loom plug where it connects to the relay/fuse box under the engine bay and i discovered that the wiring colours are different on the replacement engine to the original engine wiring loom
but that it has exactly the same amount of plugs to connect to the engine components
which i had checked before swapping the engine
So all i done was fit the original engine wiring loom to the replacement engine then tried the original ecu again
(the one with the broken leg) and it started and runs fine lol
obviously i not happy with myself about the broken leg on the eeprom but it seams to be good strangely enough

Anti Skid is basically the ESP system...
That can be caused by a fault on the system itself, or a fault with the engine... as the ESP rely on engine torque condition.
Turbo faults for example can cause anti Skid faults as well...
Any other faults?
Have you scanned the car?

-every time we scan , clean and reset starts and drive ok...
but if i go up 80-100 km / hour it comes back first as anti skid. and after less engine power appears... then i cant go abowe 3000 tours...

Have the High pressure on the turbo and the EGR, and the anti Skid will not come back...

Hello @Imsvvavr, I am getting the following error ("xprog vcc overloaded check vcc pin connection") when I try to read the EEPROM and FLASH from CEM. I checked the VCC Pin connection and it seems to be connected fine. I tried it on both chip sets and both give me the same error. Hello Imsvvavr, and thanks for responding, I really appreciate you doing so. The xprog I got did not come with the external power supply. I read in some places that you shouldn't use an external power supply with the xprog. Is that not correct? What voltage should I use for the xprog if I do try connecting an external power supply, nowhere on the xprog does it tell me what voltage it takes?

Right, where you connect the COM or USB cable, there is a place to connect a power supply...
You need that, as the power supplied by the communication cable will not be enough to power the chips as well...
Use a standard 12 dc power supply... That's all...

Now, you are asking a bit of random questions...
First things first...
Which parts of you car have you lost power?
If, and only if you are 100% sure that the CEM is faulty you should go forward with the replacement.
Now and as per my video, if you replace it with a second hand one, you need to do what I show on the video...
And yes, should resolve the issue.
As for the volvo update, are you talking about a software upgrade, or volvo to change the CEM for you?
If is a software upgrade will not solve the problem if the CEM is faulty electrically, if the problem is a corrupted software, then it might fix it, either way, how do not know the dealer fees.

Don't blame the CEM till all the rest is checked out.

Yes, the radio does not work if the VIN doesn't match... at least in this car...
What I have done was copying the flash and eeprom from both processors...
That solved the problem, and also the coding... because obviously by copying everything all the settings are transferred.
It will not work though if the original data is corrupted...
Erm... let me rephrases. You are saying the radio doesn't work with new CEM. Then by copying both the motorola EEPROM to new CEM then everything work flawlessly? I really hope you say a yes coz i wish i'm not required to do anything to the dump file. Just copy from old and write to the new CEM. Is that what you mean? BTW, of course i hope everything will goes find when i carry out the step. But can i keep in touch with you if i had further question? Thanks.

I got my xprog-m v5.55 and manage to read my CEM and i've write my new CEM with existing file. However, my car didn't manage to start. I had no idea y as i've read both eeprom n flash of the CEM. However, i do notice something when i'm reading both eeprom n flash, there's a prompt message asking to continue to verify error. N of course i apply yes to all. I'm not sure i miss anything. More over, ver5.55 doesn't have my motorola brand MPU stated, i'm using something like z100s but the mask is matching with the model stated. In which i read without any issue. just no idea wat shall i do now.

As in previous replies, there is other things that would not match your car....
You couldn't really follow the procedure from the video, as that would also remove the cruise control setting...
Not sure if that is a completely software update, or a simple coding... if it is a simple coding setting, vida can do it...

The CEM is loaded at the factory with the software modules for the options specified for the car, and the configuration is stored in Volvo's database against the VIN. In the case of a 'prep' option, the module is loaded but not enabled. If the owner then wants that option retrofitted, the installation kit includes the extra hardware, and the software download is usually just a small config file that enables the software module in the CEM, which will then use the new hardware. I am sure if cruise control is already loaded and not enabled or it might need to download from Volvo try play with VADIS/VCT2000 let us know if is any luck.

Yes, when I turn on the lights, flashing lights all my my cabin , and 3 times faster, then shakes my engine and off ... this only happens if I turn on the lights , if not I turn I have no problem with the engine or the car works well ... but the question is that when I turn the lights all flashing inside the cabin and heard as clicks in the fuse box ...
Ok, although it might points to the CEM, it can be something else making the CEM to behave like that.
Disconnect the plug/wires that go the lights that are causing the problem, try to rule out any wiring issues...
From the top of my head I can't remember if the relay for the lights is external or internal on the CEM, if is not internal remove it... see what happens...
the last thing he told me was that a cable bridge , .. I guess that cable bridging the cem may be causing that reaction, you think ?

If then the problem goes away you know that's not the CEM but the circuit...

Hi, I have a 2006 Volvo V50 2.0D and I followed this tutorial to replace the old CEM with a 2004 Volvo S40 CEM. I flashed both motorola processors eeprom (secured) and flash (secured). I noticed that one of two processors was different from one CEM to the other. Once programmed (with Xprog 5.55) the car gives me the SRS airbag error and the engine does not start. Furthermore, all the car accessories work (radio, windows, etc.), and Vida recognises the car as a V50. Maybe I forgotten something? Or maybe I had to bought a 2006 CEM? Any help would be appreciated.

Because in theory it is exactly the same piece (all sellers of ebay sell it as equivalent).

Yes, all went without any errors, I think the problem might be because the replacement CEM (2004 S40) is incompatible. You programmed the CEM and all went perfect? I think I will look for a 2006 V50 CEM. Thanks for the replies!

My friend copied from old ECU to a new one. But car doesn't start. I think the immobile data is not copied from the old to new ones. Where is immobile data for xc90 2004? I read that the data is in CEM module, so we have to transfer the data to ECU to match both.

That's why if you copy only the immo one, the car starts but other things don't... such as the radio and other optional features...
if you copy both, you will make a clone of the original... so everything work as it should...
