Fun clip! Remember than one partcularly of the WLIR events, Thanks for posting it!!! Correct on the location. The Party In The Parks that year were at Belmont Racetrack, in Elmont, NY (Belmont Racetrack, home of the Belmont Stakes, first leg of horse racing's Triple Crown)
....and when we were 19-years-old in 1980 we said the same thing! "Where's the good music? This is Rock and Roll cliche" ...I'm not saying this to launch a debate...just kind of funny
It's kind of funny that Rick Derringer is wearing a 'Disco Sucks' t-shirt - because his ex-bandmate, Dan Hartman, had a bunch of Disco Hit songs at around this time.
@@patrickthometz6365 that's why I use the word shred - please - or course Todd is way above where he has guitar parts for his incredible tunes, & can solo over them. Universities don't ask Rick to address their music graduates
@@patrickthometz6365 you obviously are not familiar with the music or career of Rick Derringer. They are two very good friends playing together here just having fun.
So does Jack Nicholson. And if you where trying to rock in the early 70's like these guys disco was taking money out of musicians pockets. No live music in the clubs anymore ,, a big ball of light and constant records..
How amazing is Derringer ... plays everything from rock, blues, jazz, country and more ...

WLIR was so great. I made to some of the Long Island “Party in the Parks” ...Joan Jett..Greg Kihn band..and some others.. it was a fun time to be 17.
Loved WLIR!! These performances were amazing in the NYC metro area!!
Incredible!!!
Love!
Omg Flippin awesome
Derringers shirt says it all. Disco wrecked live music in small bars all over the country.
What a fun gig! I'd like to buy the band some guitar tuners.
Those were the days!
The best days for set up your speakers and jam! Not like that anymore and THAT is a damn shame.

Back when songs were...well.....songs.
Derringer sporting one of the early BC Rich models before the metL heads became obsessed with them

What park? Belmont park? I was at that one when John Henry ran one of his first races.
Crumby sound. Too bad I love both of them.
Anybody recognise the other musicians?
@Cathode Roy The Drummer is Willie Wilcox's brother Jimmy
Benjy king..keyboards RIP
Two guitar heads talking
Rundgren knows that Derringer can out-shred him, but still pulls out a few stops - excellent
Todd blows Derringer away. Rick is one dimensional todd plays modes and styles Derringer is incapable of dude.
You sir are a fool.

Back Then , He is Not Afraid, Not Holding what is Inside! Make It Loud and Clear ,Can't Keep It Bottled Inside!
The guy with the shirt that says disco sucks, looks challenged.
That's Rick Derringer
😂✌🏽Derringer does have a distant look in his eyes here.

Rick is wasted
