Definitely a meme grind. Personally don't like any grind that relies on world hopping as a "mechanic". Especially with this you'll probably end up hitting the world hop limit a few times despite being drastically higher than it used to be
Even *then*, FallyDaddy isn't going for Farming pet specifically because it's basically a meme (and similar with some of the other chunks they could've rolled) with only a single tree patch. Exceptions can and should be made for content and players sanity imo!
No struts. You are supposed to have fun in the Game! That would burn everyone out 😂 thanks for this series, really enjoying it so far. Good luck on your journey!
I wanna so you drop them bars. Smithing for later is fine. Mining as your first 99 is punishment enough. Love the way you presentthe facts btw and good job on the editing on this episode. I hope you get a thousand more new subs before the next episode~
I would say that current smithing only has options that would count as secondary training methods (your source of nats for superheat is too low and the struts are not always broken) or memes. I say at least wait for the furnace
I think you should do the skillscapes for not just smithing, but all of them when you land on their chunk. One of the main reasons to get 99 is to wear that sexy skill cape 😂 and the struts, comon that's pure insanity
Great second episode! Keep the smithing grind for a future chunk indeed ;) since there are 2 furnaces close to you, it'll come soon enough. Keep up the good work ❤
Broken Struts is 100% a meme grind. Save it until you roll the cape and a way to get there. You can superheat if you don't already have a furnace by then
I say wait till you roll the smiting cape or furnace. If you get the furnace, do it as normal, if you get the cape, do a level per chunk via strut until you get furnace. That should cut the grind down and will show how lucky/unlucky you get.
I've never been a chonkwoman, but I've done a long ass grind on the mining guild, 48 to 68 smithing in a money-positive way as a main. Which means I bought nature runes, iron ore, and had a fire staff to cast superheat then smith steel into platebodies until I could do mithril plates... I did that because I was f2p, and was pretty poor so I had to either do that or go full ironwoman and mine everything which woulda been worse... The 48-68 grind took, if I remember correctly ,around 60-80 hours, and I calculated the mithril grind to take around 500 to just mine the coal to smelt into the bars. To reach 88, when buying on the GE and alching plates is actually profitable. Anyway, I'm saying this because, with your restrictions, I could lowball the estimate of time to be around 1500 hours, maybe more. I don't know about other viewers, but periodic video updates of "yep, i have almost collected the runes" then "yep, I used x% more of the runes" to "I'm finally suffering on the final part of the grind, on an anvil" doesn't really sound fun. Smithing is just too slow if you don't have a way to get bars or you're not using the blast furnace
I like the idea of waiting to get 99 smiting, you should also add a requirement of getting the other skills you mentioned (crafting & fletching) with each chunk. Start with a higher requirement for each chunk like 20 lvls in each and going down (20 lvls to 15 lvls to 10 lvls to 5 lvls) after each chunk and keeping it at 5 lvls for each chunk until you reach your goals unless you get a way to use the resources you have access you have ( furnace, knife, tanner, ect.)
You wouldnt be able to fletch amethyst darts without tourist trap right? And the repair strut is definitely a meme grind. There is no other possible way to describe it as.
Amethyst dart tips are craftable instead of smithable, so they don't require Tourist Trap. And adding feathers to any dart tips doesn't require Tourist Trap either.
Imagine going for 99 smithing on struts, then you would need that Onyx drop from gem bags aswell. But no f that and keep grinding reasonably :) Also Jagex update really came on time with the new mining gloves effect
awesome series man, and you're making the series even better by not using the Lords name in vain or cursing, it allows fathers to play this series without worrying about kids nearby. Love it, keep it up!
Struts is meme, Mining is the goal as the Cape is there. Your account should be played how you want =) We'll watch regardless. Getting idk, enough smithing levels through fixing the struts for a stronger Axe would be a good idea tho, that climb to yew logs (and more, for fletching xp) will be easier with a mithril axe. (or addy if you feel inclined) :edited for spelling
Once you get 20 I believe you'll need to craft anethyst? If you lamp agility, you're close to some major grinds you could avoid otherwise. You're also next to Draynor so you could just train from level 1 when you get there now.
I would have suggested that as a penalty for backlogging the strut repair you could ban yourself from fixing the struts until you roll a smithing chunk. It’d feel appropriate to give up the easy low-level smithing xp until you’re going for 99 smithing
Honestly, you could do strut till 15 so that you can use superheat as a passive until you get a furnace. This way, the passive superheat may get you to 30 for steel, giving you quite a head start for the 99
So its interesting you and faldordaddy are now in the same chunk doing roughly the same. He did spend over 8k hours in west faldor though so you're on totally different point in accounts. Be interesting for you guys to chat about how you'll be tackling this chunk
If Limp can do it, you can do it. Good luck on the grind my man! You've got this. Also, had no idea about the altar in the party room, I wonder if that was intentional by JaGex, id say not, but very interesting fact.
Doing the smithing grind would be on the same level as killing 500k men in lumbridge. It would be legendary. It's also a 2000-7000 hour grind. We wouldn't see another video for years.
If you feel like you should do something for the smithing grind, here's my suggestion. 250k xp to roll out of this chunk 500k xp for the next roll 750k xp for the roll after that 1m per chunk after that Most likely you hit the smithing skill cape or a furnace prior to getting super far in, but its a way of doing something towards smithing without burning yourself out completely. Or just skip it as its a meme grind.
I'd say wait till the smithing skillcape. Too extreme grind even for extreme chunk account.. and those ores from MLM you mentioned will have a purpose for actually train the skill, not just hopping the worlds to hope that strut to be broken.
I’m pretty sure Limpwurt has a rule on secondary training methods where he won’t do them for a task if it’s a skill that can only be leveled by a drop (smithing levels coming from only ore drops) at least he did when he started but Limpwurt might just of said screw it in his later episodes with runecrafting so if you don’t want to level to 99 I understand and would accept it.
In regards to smithing, play the account how you want! Even if you are only a semi-exteme now, the series is still cool and I am sure people will understand.
I mean I understand not wanting to do 99 smithing on struts, I'd consider that the same as raking weeds. However, you do have access to runes, ore, hammer and anvil so...
Can you not superheat the ores for the bars and use the anvil in the Dwarven mine to smith for 99? 'Cause if not, the 99 wouldn't be a necessary grind for the chunk in the first place right?
I can, yes, but as mentioned, the nature rune drops from dwarves and guards are above fairly uncommon (and above my secondary rate of 1/16), and I'd need multiple tens of thousands of them to superheat all the bars. On top of that, my anvil is extremely far from a bank, so I'm not certain that method would be any faster than just repairing struts.
Yeah, I'm gonna agree with everyone else about not doing smithing 99 on just struts. I ran some numbers, and assuming you could on average fix a strut every 5 seconds, it would take a little shy of a year and two weeks of nonstop strut fixing to earn enough experience for 99 smithing.
I appreciate the math! However, the xp scales with each level, so it would be much shorter than that. Regardless, it takes more than 5 seconds to even hop worlds. Lol
@@BrewScape honestly did not know that, I've fixed a strut maybe once. But I think even if it wasn't a literal year, it would be months to weeks of mind-numbing tedium.
I don't think repairing the strut counts as a training method. As far as I'm concerned, the smithing grind is back logged until you actually have a proper training method. No point in tanking the account and series because you technically get experience from repairing struts
should drop the extreme chunk if you modify the ruleset imo, I dont think struts should count considering its entirely world dependent not like limps bagged plant grind
Some back of the napkin math puts the strut grind at well over 18k hours. I've played RuneScape since 2004 and I don't even have that many hours on all accounts combined. Might as well restart the account rather than doing something like that.
just saw a (sailchunk)*name changed* account world hopping the broken struts and thaught it couldnt be him trying to get that smithing grind right? (i was correct just some other sailing chunk)
I'm not gonna trim the skillcape for BIS since that's tied to another 99. And no, 1/32 is not close to 1/16. It's literally twice as rare. The cutoff is 1/16. I can't make these decisions for every future grind where the rate is even close to 1/16, so I set it to 1/16. The chunk picker does the work for me, which makes this bearable.
I'd say if you do get the furnace, even before the smithing cape becomes available, do it then. Because then it isn't a meme grind anymore. But for now, skip it and keep the ores.
I'm surprised you didn't grind the combat on Dwarves rather than Cows. It would have been slower, yeah, but you would have gotten some bars and Natures along the way to passively get a bit more Smithing experience. As for the Smithing question... I'd personally have said to grind it. The Bronze Bar drop rate from Dwarves is only very slightly outside your stated range for secondary training methods (1/18.29 rather than 1/16), and you have the struts to fall back on to back that up. Plus they have three drops that help in that regard (Bronze Bars, Iron Bars and Nature Runes), so it effectively is better than 1/18.29 anyway. I can see from the other comments that this is an unpopular opinion, however.
It's definitely tricky. The 1/16 is a hard "yes, I'm doing it," so even though it's 1/18.29, that's not 1/16. If I had my rate at 1/19, it'd be a different story. I also don't think the bronze bars would be faster than just hopping worlds with strut. When it comes down to it, that's just not a fun grind to delay content for two months with. Lol
Might as wel get 99 mining doing motherload mine and just repair the strut every time you finish an invent and see how far you need to smith afterwards and decide then if you end up like 70smithing from mlm
Let me know what you all think about the *controversial* topic discussed in today's video! Reply here! "My account, my rules" or am I a failure?
it makes so much sense to do it that way
I think your reasons to skip 99 smithing for now are completely fair
wait until you get access to a furnace for the smithing grind.
I'd say wait for the furnace you know its coming up fast
Definitely a meme grind. Personally don't like any grind that relies on world hopping as a "mechanic". Especially with this you'll probably end up hitting the world hop limit a few times despite being drastically higher than it used to be
The strut is def. a meme grind.
My advice: wait until you roll a furnace.
1-99 Smithing without a furnace is absolutely meme territory
Don’t get smithing. Play the game how you want to. We will be here
My arguments for not getting 99 smithing from struts: We want to keep seeing content at least more than once every month :) love your content bro!
99 smithing from just struts is something i'd expect from a supreme rather than an xtreme onechunk tbh
Even *then*, FallyDaddy isn't going for Farming pet specifically because it's basically a meme (and similar with some of the other chunks they could've rolled) with only a single tree patch. Exceptions can and should be made for content and players sanity imo!
From sailing to never see sunlight again in the deep mines of Falador.
The fact you're subjecting yourself to the agony of a single skillcape is more than enough, mate. Leave the smithing for now.
Your approach to smithing is 👌 Can't wait to see where your series goes
Me neither! I'm loving the support so far!
Absolutely brutal to have gone through so much of the mining grind before the MLM changes that just dropped to make it even better. Love it mate.
Look me up on high scores if you want to see how brutal it actually is. Slight spoilers, of course.
Literally hearing sea shanty at the beginning of each of these episodes is like, the highlight for me lmao
I wouldn't be a Port Sarim chunk man without a little bit too much Sea Shanty 2. Lol
New SailingChunk and Chunk5arim episodes on the same day? Blessed

I agree with the general consensus that the struts would fall under a meme grind most likely.

I would say that current smithing only has options that would count as secondary training methods (your source of nats for superheat is too low and the struts are not always broken) or memes. I say at least wait for the furnace
No serious person would expect 99 smithing from clicking a broken wheel for 70000 hours- 100% meme.
more like 700-1000 hours, not really a meme grind and a decent training method
I think you should do the skillscapes for not just smithing, but all of them when you land on their chunk. One of the main reasons to get 99 is to wear that sexy skill cape 😂 and the struts, comon that's pure insanity

Yeah as long as you're having fun the series will be better so meme grind like that will drain your energy. Cheers on the great start to a series!
Broken Struts is 100% a meme grind. Save it until you roll the cape and a way to get there. You can superheat if you don't already have a furnace by then
Repairing one strut for every sub could be a funny way to train smithing while you wait for a furnace

one tier of armour per chunk roll until you hit a furnace/replacement. so for this chunk, bronze platebody, next chunk iron, so on.

I can't get nature runes at a rate of 1/16 or better, so with my secondary training method limit of 1/16, that doesn't count as a training method.
I don’t think raking should be a method for chunkmen, and I think the strut falls in the same category so I support you not going for it
Agreed
I unlock a chunk after every morningcoffee
99 Smithing from wheels is stupid. Maybe get 40 smith (in the same vein as needing 40 def for rune plates) and move on
How long would it even be to get 99 smithing with this garbish method.
Others have done calculations in the 8 month range :p
no need to get 99 smithing with struts. Roll a furnace and do 99 smithing immediately
If this is accurate its probably already been addressed… but dont you need tourist trap completed to be able to fletch dart tips into darts?
Upon further inspection, it is required to smith the dart tips… so the point still stands.
@originalsade7243 you don't smith amethyst dart tips. You craft them, so they don't require Tourist Trap.
I would say until u roll a furnace or anvil leave smithing alone :)
