Appreciate your teaching and explanations. Love the Monel strings. I’ve been playing Curt Mangan Monel strings for years with a 16 A string. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks Wayne.
They both sound great but I like the older Stanley better. It's more throaty and has more soul. It's voice falls easier on my ears. Since having heard them in person too, it makes a difference to me. Video and mike sound great. The strings are the best. My calluses aren't as deep since you changed the strings on mine and I love the tonal quality. Thanks for all you do buddy. We a truly blessed to have your talent to glean from. God bless you.
It's feels like old times to be on the road this much. I'm very grateful for the work and still love being a part of 3TO. I'm coming up on 30 years with Russell!
@@waynesworldofmandolin3616 I hadn't until recently - I got a Hinde A model in March, I've really enjoyed playing it. It's totally different from my Randy Wood, has a much darker tone. Will you be at IBMA this year? :)
It sure does have the tone. This fretboard is one of the more extreme feeling radius boards. I don't think it'll alter the sound of the instrument and you guys will be able to hear a before and after. Remember when radiused boards were incredibly rare? Now we see them all the time.
Both mandolins sound great (a great driver helps); to me, the red mandolin sounds a little rounder and more focused; the older Stanley sounds more open and traditional; enjoyed the video!
The mic sounds good, Wayne! The older Stanley (Don Julin's) really pops and I favor that one. But you make both sound killer! Glad you're back and posting.
The yellow/brown mandolin sounds a little sweeter and the red one seems to have a deeper sound to my ears. I wonder what they would sound like cut in half and the two different halves glued together?
Welcome back, Wayne. Gigs are good! I hear very little difference btwn the two instruments. They both sound fine. Are the strings on the new Stanley...newer?
The strings were played in on both of em. I try to make sure of that when doing a comparison like this. Strings sound best to me after about an hour of playing time.
I like the older Stanley, a bit more mid-rangey sounding but my preference is bluegrass. They both sound great and the newer one has a bit more sustain to my ear. Also, tell Russell to feed you guys better. Looks like you've lost some weight. Stay safe and pick on.
Yep. The newer one does sustain longer which makes it ever so slightly less responsive on the front side of the note. That particular attribute is honestly more about feel than it is tone. You have a good ear.
I have been waiting to hear this! Thanks for sharing Wayne and glad you are enjoying the mandolin!
Thx for the comment Gene. I've played it on the road for the entire last month of gigs.

You're welcome Doug!
You would sound awesome playing a broomstick, so it's really hard for me to distinguish which mandolin sounds better.
Thanks so much Andy! I never pictured my self becoming a fan of A model mandos but here we are.
Thank you Wayne I’ve missed your videos!
You are very welcome!

Thanks for the super nice comment. You've heard the newer Stanley live on the mic with 3TO as well. It sure does cut in that situation.
Great to see you back again! Hey, touring is what its about and what makes you a great player and teacher.

I think both mandolins sound great! Getting a new mandolin is so much fun!! 🥳
Howdy Lucy! They do both sound great and I certainly love getting a new mando as well. Have you spent much time playing A models?

Much love Wayne! Thanks for the upload
You're welcome medicine man.
Leave the mando as is its got THE TONE; the recently aquired A model Thanks Wayne;

Sounds great Wayne! Could be the new phone but I doubt it
Howdy! You've heard em both in a lot of scenarios pal. Thx for the comment.

I can't decide which one I like best. They both do a great job cutting thru the mix on stage. Thx for the comment Max.

Probably would sound about as good as that would look!

Man, I can put all five of my fingers together and they still wouldn’t be as long as one of yours! You are an absolute beast on that mando.
Thank you so much!

The way I hear it... The new one is crisp and the old one is woody sounding.
Yep. The newer one could still evolve some as it gets played in. Thx for commenting!
Been missing you. I’ll set up a time in fall to get together.
Sounds great Mike! I'll look forward to it.
I prefer the newer Stanley, but the old one really cuts.
They both have that Stanley A model thing that I love. Hopefully we'll cross paths soon and you can check this new one out.
@@waynesworldofmandolin3616 absolutely, my friend!
