- Thirlmere is a reservoir in the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria and the English Lake District. The Helvellyn ridge lies to the east of Thirlmere. To the west of Thirlmere are a number of fells,Armboth Fell and Raven Crag, both of which give views of the lake and of Helvellyn beyond.
Length - 6.05km (3.76mi)
Max, width - 0.7km(0.43 mi)
Max depth - 40 metres (131 ft)
Shore Length 15km (9.3 mi)
Another brilliant and beautiful video. Stunning scenery spoiled only by a pesky jet (looks like a Hawk). I'll bet it gave you a shock! At least you can now saw you've been in combat !

I remember walking over that bridge just before Christmas last year on the way to Raven Crag and the mist was just lifting off Thirlmere - what a sight it was. Man you hit on lucky getting that jet on your drone camera, that was another great sight to see, cheers Alan

We love Thirlmere, thanks for this. My last visit back in the Mavic 2 and Mini 2 days I stopping filming due to the number of both jets and prop trainers almost skimming the water!
They are a bloody nightmare. Terrified my little dog. They were far too low. The same thing happened while I was in Grasmere. Little dog was traumatised 😢Pleased you enjoyed the video ❤😊

Gorgeous locations, the lake district is filled with such beauty. The BAE Hawk was a surprise I bet! You don't get much warning with fast jets. It was well above you anyway :)

Many fight jets do low-flying training runs in the valleys around the lake district. I had 2 helicopters come to around 250m of drone when I've been flying.

Gotta be wary around Thirlmere, those jets come in fast and low. Plus, they're always in twos. So, if one turns up, there's another one right behind.
They are a nightmare. One minute lovely and quiet. The next. 😱

eek a bit scary, you can check fo training aircraft by searching notams. it gives you times and places where temporary no fly zones are. handy for anywhere the miliary train.
