    I'm so glad to see the people of our Lord singing thoughtful and somber psalms with all the reverence due to the subject. I love upbeat hymns of praise and deep deep reflective chanting. Keep pursuing excellence in your worship as our God deserves nothing less. Thank you so much for posting this.

    This is Psalm 119X (Psalm 119: 169-176) from The Book of Psalms for Singing. One of my favorites.

    Absolutely marvelous- and who cares if there is a violin or not- I can't even tell. What matters is if you can understand the words and more importantly if you keep His word in your heart. That is all that matters. Let's not be silly.

    true, Calvin himself originally taken out organ in the church of Geneva, but then brought back, the organ seeing the need of Organ to lead and help them in congregational singing. But if you read carefully, the book of Psalms, we see that not every instrument was allowed in the temple worship. Some musical instruments were used in public worship at the temple, while others were used in festivals that you were near the temple during the holidays.

      The only reason the organ was removed from worship is because at the time, Calvinist were trying to separate themselves from the Catholic Church entirely, and the organ was considered a Catholic thing, so it was thrown out along with vestments, statues, altars, incense and sometimes even stained glass.
      A bit radical, but probably seemed helpful at the time.

    I think I'm responsible for 10k of the views on this video lol. Grew up in the RPCNA so the instruments were a little strange but I don't mind it.

    @helmuthoorn i think youll find that any instrument can be used for good or evil. its not up to us to determine such things. people can even praise God with hip hop.

      @Ludovico X I know this comment is old, but what makes you think that? I'm just wondering what your basis for such an assumption is, since God has never said what kind of music we can and can't play to worship him. That's like saying ballads are glorifying to God, but limericks and haiku are not because of their vulgar rhythm and meter.

      @@duck.7417 The mindset that accompanies hip hop, rap and rock encourages flesh over spirit. They are in no way appropriate for worship. Remember Cain and Abel?
      God does care how we approach Him. He won't reject our heart or take our salvation, but He can reject our actions.

    @helmuthoorn Why isn't the violin (heard in this recording) evil? Who made the decision which instruments were "Satanic" and which were not? Seriously, there are more important things, like world hunger, to worry about.

    • @mkshffr4936
      @mkshffr4936 4 года назад +3

      IMO it is not the instrument but how it is used as with any other tool. Some instruments are less often used in a proper way for worship but that does not mean they can not be used appropriately.

    @helmuthoorn Seriously? They're all instruments. Who exactly informed you which instruments are demonic and which are not? Maybe Africans think the violin and piano are evil. Who's to say? Or maybe you have a problem with the Africans themselves? I wish you could see just how foolish you look to be focusing on such pettiness.
