    Great video. I bought the 604 model and the install was seamless. Here is one additional installation tip I found useful. The video shows the use of a paddle-like tool to get the insulation past the cabinet face frame without bunching up. I found a better way was to take your utility knife and cut two pieces of cardboard from the dishwasher box about the size of the insulation on the sides of the dishwasher. Hold the cardboard over the insulation as you push the dishwasher into the opening. The cardboard will slide along the face frame instead of the insulation. When the dishwasher gets within about four inches from the face frame, you can pull the cardboard back out and then push the dishwasher in the rest of the way. It's like using a shoehorn to get into tight shoes. Since you were going to cut the box up anyway to get it into the recycling bin, doing it during the dishwasher install provides you with an extra installation tool to use with no overall additional work.

    As a DIY veteran I wasn’t sure this was necessary to watch; after watching it I am glad I did. Great tips to make the install go smoothly and result in an ideal finished install. I particularly appreciated the tip for eliminating the small plastic bits left inside the door after removing the protective covering. Thanks very much for a perfect video.

    WARNING!! Water will drain out of your dishwasher when you lay it back as directed in this clip. Yes my brand new one leaked everywhere. Have a towel on hand as to not damage floor or adjacent cabinets.

    I just replaced our old Kitchen Aid dishwasher with a new KDMP404 2020 one. This was my first dishwasher installation. I would never have been able to do it without this video. While you give a lot of detailed instruction which is great, a lot more key information was conveyed by your demonstration e.g. how does the insulation go on the kick plate. I found myself running back to the video multiple times to find answers to questions that came up while doing the installation. Much to my surprise everything was done right first time. I thought for sure I would have messed up something but I got it right. And while there are a lot of good features with this product, there are a lot of annoyances such as the need for SAE and Metric wrenches; the screws are sometimes, flat head, or Phillips or Torx. But, again, through your video I was able to do it. A link to your video should go out with the installation instructions - seriously. Thank you.

    Just spent 3 hours installing a new Maytag washer with this setup. I am not a professional and did the full install myself. Whirlpool should drop JB Hunt as it’s delivery/install company. They were supposed to remove my old dishwasher and install this new model. They fed me some BS about needing a long drain hose and Whirlpool doesn’t offer that for their “White Glove” delivery ordered through Costco. The 6’ hose the unit came with worked just fine... After doing the install myself, I am realizing the JB Hunt drivers were too lazy to take on this installation. I wish I saw this video before the install. The manual is simple enough to follow but having the visual helps a lot! Maytag should start printing a link to installation videos for on the manuals. I took my time working through the install to ensure no issues when all was done. Everything ran smooth at the initial rinse cycle. Please change the way you’re doing delivery/installs. JB Hunt is clearly not interested in the labor part of the final mile contract. They’re a logistics company; not appliance installers. Figure out a better way to do this so people who don’t have the time or ability to do this install themselves are not left with a new dishwasher collecting dust in the garage.

    I just install one of these today. It was a little bit of a pain but I've seen worse. I don't see any reason to wait to re-attach the dip pan assembly after everything is in place. I agree that leveling the thing with no access to the back legs is a royal pain.

    I’m in the process of installing a new Whirlpool and I have a problem disconnecting the wires from the drip pad - I tried unclipping the plastic connection with the orange wires, (26:50) but nothing budged or wiggled and it felt like I might break it off before it responded. I can see the installer has done it 100 times, so he knows the trick but I tried pushing left, right, up, down - it was not easy and I think this needs much more clarification because the instructions in the manual look different than it looks like in real life. In the video the details are hidden by the glove of the presenter, but when I try to make anything unclick, nothing works as easily as the video.
    So I finally unplugged the drip pan by using a tiny screwdriver to be able to depress the click lock... but it was a very poor design, imho... and it felt almost like it was going to break before actually coming out.
    But I'm saving the worst for last - the newfangled electric box connector. I could see if this was a plugged in electric it would be easy while the dishwasher was on it's side. BUT in my case I have a hard wired electric - so this new electric box is WAY worse than just a simple electric twist connector with screw electric caps. Way WORSE! Because I have to be on the floor, I found it nearly impossible to try to bend and locate the wires into the exact box location - so much more difficult than just grabbing two loose wires and screwing an orange joining cap on them. This would in fact be a total deal breaker if I knew ahead of time that it would be so difficult. Yes, I took the box off, reading how in the instructions, but it only gives an extra inch to move the cumbersome electric box down 1 inch lower.
    Also the very troublesome drip pan makes this also a deal breaker for me. Sorry to be so negative, but I've put in 3 dishwashers before and this one was the most trouble by far. I guess most folks just have it done and pay $200 for an installer to come do it for them, but I'm a do it yourself kind of guy.
    But thanks for extra info that I got from this video.

    I know y'all think making the power supply with eyelets is more secure and/or easier. But the part numbers supplied with the new dishwasher are all backordered. Can you not just use what literally every other dishwasher has been using for years? So frustrating. Also why don't you mention creating an air gap in the drain line? It's code in most US states.

    • @chriss4739
      @chriss4739 2 года назад

      Yes, and today a year later I'm stuck with the same issue. No stock of those special cables. Do I attempt cutting their eyelets and use wire nuts? But if it doesn't workout, if unit wires too short it will be a major fail.

Its also stuck in a certain cycle mode. I try to push cancle start/resume but nothing. Recycled the power with the breaker but still stuck in the same mode. Its brand new and I just installed it. Checked the float switch to make sure its plugged in, it is and here is the strange thing, it worked once and washed with out any dishes in it, but then has not worked at all since. I have only had it for 2 days now.

    Video was good, but the new “upgrades” to the appliance are crap! Plastic adjustable legs? Who came up with that one? Mine stripped right away. If you’re changing the way the electrical is attached, then you need to include an upgraded wire to reflect that change. The 90 degree hose attachment is nice though and yes, when u tip it on its side…it will leak water.
