Michael was the GOAT. Not just because of the driving, but all the other aspects, as you can hear from Flavio
Michael Schumacher is the greatest F1 driver of all time. He changed every aspect of racing; and not just the actual driving if the car. He helped raise everyone to his level. He brought a completely new perspective to F1. He simply understood it all, so much better than anyone else.
Aside from his record numbers, he was in a class all by himself. It really took a superior car to beat him. His last return to Mercedes is really not indicative of his true greatness; and one day we'll all learn about his struggles in that brief period.

When Rosberg has said many times he was constantly faster than Michael as teammate , let’s remember he was with Michael at retired age level. No where could he hold a candle to Michaels talent in his prime. Although I am huge Rosberg fan.
Pradd Zzz absolutely! Schumacher was more than 40 years old! Even though he was able to drive on a similar level with the only Driver who has beaten the leading Driver of todays generation- Hamilton. And anyone who has passed the age of 40 knows without a doubt what you lose...it's at least one second! Fighter Jet Pilots HAVE to retire with 40. Because with 40 EVERY human being cannot judge differences that good at high Speeds. And that alone will cost you 1 second. And precision and Constance of course. With this facts in mind everyone can imagine what would have Happen if you would put a 28-35 year old Schumacher in the starting grid of 2008-2019...-anyone would See that a Vettel or a Hamilton is far away from being such exceptional drivers like Schumacher or Senna were! If a guy with over 40 years is so competitive to Drive with a bad car under the Top 8 constantly - he would have dominated the whole thing in competitive age!
But what i think is Great is that today a lot of people of the Mercedes Team explain why Schumacher was the Main reason that they started to dominate F1. Schumacher&Brawn built up that Team. The working ethic, the right staff, organisation etc.... And i think exactly that was Schumis Job! To built up a Team similar to Ferrari in the early 2000's that will dominate F1. And he did. It's not a coincidence that Mercedes started dominating similar to the other Team Schumi had built up more than a decade before....it was Ross Brawn and Schumi who did that....and Rory Byrne i think...Schumi and Brawn brought his "padawans" to Mercedes. So i think THE Designer of F1 is not Adrian Newey. It's Rory Byrne. He is the one who had dominated Design in F1 with Newey in the 90's untill his retirement in 2004. And his "padawans" dominate it today. I think that says a lot who was the real Genius in F1 Design...and even as he was not able to do a lot as just an adviser of course, Ferrari would probably be much worse than without his advise(when he made some advise in 2017 again you could immediately notice it as Ferraris performance immediately improved)!
except he wasn't. Nico conveniently forgets how often he was outqualified and/or outraced by Michael in the classic circuits
I honestly don't even think Michael was trying that hard to win another championship, 2010-12. It seemed like he was just enjoying driving for once without constantly fighting for a spot and more points.
Michael had passed his prime at that point as well, whereas Nico was quite literally in his prime.
Hakkinen beat Schumacher twice in his prime. Alonso beat Schumacher once in his prime. Kimi would have beaten Schumacher if his car wasn't a dud. Montoya could have done it in a faster car.
@@JohnFromAccounting Alonso definitely had the talent & a good car. But small things went against Michael which was penalties & failures.
Kimi definitely was a beast but that period was really narrow. He liked his alcohol too much.
Mika won two years where Michael wasn’t in contention, one year where his car was unreliable & another where he met with an accident(broken leg) yet Eddie Irvine his teammate came close to winning the championship against Mika. But he definitely had his moments of brilliance.
Montoya didn’t have the mental fitness, he got annoyed & frustrated easily, thats why he made enemies in his own team. He didn’t continue that momentum once he left F1 also. He was talented but he lacked the discipline to be a champion in my view.
Michael Schumacher held his amazing form for a good 9 years atleast.
He brought back Ferrari to its glory since Niki Lauda. And his good fortuner had brushed on the AMG team also.
I don´t like Briatore but the story´s off Michael I can here and watch this guy for hour´s. Danke Nico tolle Geschichte über Michael.

Nico, Hello again. Ah yes, excellent work. I enjoyed this interview very much. Was busy but able to watch now. Wanted to say well done! I listened and enjoyed this conversation. To hear the man think and speak on obviously a person the world knows so well. Great interview! Cheers to your fathers victory as well! Ayrton Senna is my all time favorite. The movie ' Senna ' is amazing. I met one of his engineer's that was on his team in 94' and was there the horrible weekend he died from the accident. As an ex-racer myself [ U.S motorcycle road racer ] me and the engineer hit it off talking about senna. There was a cheap small documentary made in the states about the accident. To sum it up, it claimed Senna lost control due to tires not being up to temp. As I'm sure you know there is another view. Many feel the steering column failed. We have onbaord video of the lap of his death and you can see the steering column flexing in many directions. We know the team cut and added length to the column as per Senna wanted it closer to his chest. The team alway maintained the column did not fail and the ' flexing' was actually by design. This was all brought out in the court trial his family held against the team. I asked the engineer ' knowing this is kinda a touchy subject of whether it was the column, or the loss of traction what's your opinion of what caused the crash. His words were " Definitely mechanical failure. " I felt the same. As a side note I met this engineer while working out in a gym. Between reps while catching my breath we began to talk. First on exercise then went to what do you do for a living. Both of us just talking freely. He never said anything about working in his past with Senna. We talked about hobbies what we loved to do outside of work. This is where he mentioned his love for F1. I said ' Senna is the man " he looked at me and smiled and said ' your not going to believe this,..come I'll show you something. As we left the workout bench and walked towards our bags on the floor some 30 feet away. He said ' I worked on his team. I was there in 94 ' . I was shocked literally shocked. He gets into his bag pulls out his cell phone and shows me photo after photo. And It was him. And I'm not talking like him with a pit lane pass and took a selfie next to the team pitt. He showed me photos of garage shots of him in team uniform, clipboard, headset. I couldn't believe it. He made one thing clear, he was just as much a fan of Senna as he was an engineer on his team. So ya that's my meeting someone that as on his team story. What's your thoughts on Senna. Do you have a favorite. Well cheers from Florida. Hope you and your family are well.

bit harsh as thats never been reported i think the main issue isn't his mobility but the level of his brain injury
i'm positive after all he has available the very best medical assistance available to many rumours around (as happens when a wall of silence goes up) just crazy when people who do some of the most dangerous sports get hurt or killed doing lesser sports for fun or training just look at Nicky Haden from Moto GP
thats whats being reported who knows the brains a funny organ one of the few parts of the human body we don't fully know inside out
basically he is already dead only that his heart still beats. but do not expect him to come back someday with "hey guys, I'm back". his brain carried massive skulls at the impact on the stone. with a little luck he will be able to speak again, but only repeat what the therapists say, like a robot. but his soul is gone forever and ever. he will never be the same again as before the accident. If you ask him who he is, he probably will not even be able to tell you anymore.
He's brain dead. 100%. If he was recovering we would know it for sure.

Schumacher'biggest performance was at the Mercedes.
He wasn't succesfull, but he didn't give up and helped Mercedes three years long - as a seven times champion.
That shows why was Schumacher so different

Interesting how Nico views him being faster than Michael. After he was out for 3+ years, he struggled but eventually he caught up in pace to Nico despite being past his prime. Qualifying stats:
2010 - 14:5 for Nico
2011 - 16:3 for Nico
2012 - 10:10
Michael's race pace in 2011-12 was easily better than Nico.
He would have had atleast a 100 points in 2012 if his Mercedes had some reliability atleast when it still had decent pace.
2010 was definitely all Nico, but 2011-12 was more Michael, if he just had a slightly better car, pace wise in 2011 and reliability wise in 2012.

Flavio Briatore is a really impresive person! He made huge talents like Schumacher and Alonso to Legends! He will go down as one of the few people with a big impact on F1

The great impact was that he was expelled from Formula 1 because he was not a serious person, and at least since Michael Schumacher days at Benetton he was the biggest cheater of all time in the sport!

If you would watch the whole podcast, you would see he afterwards continued a conversation about Eddie Jordan's text message, which he was searching for on the phone in this video cut :) It's the same as the TV hosts look at their papers during the interviews, so they keep focus on the plot of the interview :)

No big deal, but i did find this distracting too, so maybe either 1) say why looking at the phone when picking it up, then it becomes a non-issue, or 2) just do it before the interview.
