  • The complex of fountains on Lenin Square is smaller than the fountain on Moskovskaya Square, but the light and music show suits the same. Multi-colored jets of water break into millions of splashes and again soar up to the sky. They tremble to the beat of the music and freeze with the last chord. To see this miracle, it is not necessary to go to distant lands.
The light and music fountain at the Finland Station on Lenin Square is also one of the 2 dancing fountains in St. Petersburg. Jets of water dance to the classics, compositions by Andrey Petrov, and sometimes to the accompaniment of hits from the 1960s. And it all started in the 1950s. After reconstruction, 2 fountains with octagonal bowls were installed on Lenin Square near the Finland Station.
Over time, they stopped working. In 2004, the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of St. Petersburg announced a tender for the design of a new fountain complex. It was won by the Architectural Studio of Alexander Melnichenko "Grand Terrier-Atrium" and the company "PriSS".
All nozzles, lamps, equipment, pumps were developed by engineers from the German company OASE. At the same time, lamps with LEDs of domestic production were partially used. The reconstruction of the square and the construction of fountains took three months, and on September 22, 2005, the opening of a new fountain complex took place in a solemn atmosphere.
20 bowls made of gray and black granite are located in the central part of the square. The largest, rectangular, including 8 cascades and 500 jets, hid behind the monument to Vladimir Lenin. Nearby are restored octagonal bowls, between them is a small rectangular one. The area is framed by sixteen small bowls, eight on each side.
All fountains are equipped with constantly changing four-color lighting and have musical accompaniment. The well-known composer, a native of St. Petersburg Sergey Banevich wrote a piece of music, consisting of 13 parts, especially for the "Singing Fountains". During the show, they are performed by a symphony orchestra.
The "Singing Fountains" near the Finland Station is a favorite meeting and recreation place for both St. Petersburg residents and guests of the city. The performance can be viewed at 12:00, 21:40 on weekdays and at 12:00, 20:00, 21:00 and 21:40 on weekends and public holidays.
