I just turned 15 and I’ve been embarrassed to embrace my love for my little pony. I don’t like it in the same way of course, I mostly collect and restore my ponies, I don’t usually play with them anymore. But seeing women that are still into mlp makes me feel so much more comfortable with myself!
@@JennyNicholson Please, give us more pony videos - I'm not choosy: reviews, critiques, theories, fan-fic, toys, anything and everything pony would make me very happy.
This is one of my go-to asmr videos. Everything about it so natural and relaxing. I don't particularly like whisper videos. I like people who talk regularly, but in a calm way like this, with maybe a slight bit a vocal fry. The best part is definitely when she makes that tangent around 3:44. The way she talks like that while thinking really relaxes me. Hope she does more natural stuff like this. Although I think it's charm also comes from its unintentional nature of it.
When I was little I cut my ponies' hair into like. A mohawk just a buzz. And my mom asked why and I was like it's ok it'll grow back and she was like uh no it won't they're toys and I started crying
Oh my gosh I'm soooo jealous. I've been collecting these since I was a child. I use to have over 300 and then I sold off most of my collection and ever since I regreted that. Also fun bonus fact about the twinkle eye ponies: The story goes they where trapped in a cave mining jewels for a jewel wizard and when they were saved they found their eyes no longer worked in the daylight. Apple jack smashed the throne of the wizard and the shards of crystals went into the ponies eyes which apparently gave them the ability to see in the daylight again. so the story in like a creepy pasta but they are no where near as creepy as the beddy bye eyes baby ponies.
Gahhh my friend Kirsten literally sarcastically told me to make her a pony fixing asmr and I said I wouldn't but apparently I have become the very thing I sought to destroy
not that anyone is reading this comment section in june 2020, but this is the video i watch to come down from panic attacks, and I cant explain how much I appreciate Jenny's presence online. I know Jenny has a valued role in the internet film analysis world but honestly these kind of videos from her are just so infinitely valuable to me. I know it seems silly and wholesome or whatever but this is a real tool for me when it comes to healthy coping skills. Just wanted to commend her for making something like that idk lol
another way to do this sort of thing without using a magic eraser (provided the plastic itself is the base colour and it's not been painted/airbrushed) is to use 100% acetone and a q-tip/tissue! it takes off dirt and even factory paint really well, it's what a lot of doll customizers use to get a clean base on the dolls
Oh my gosh I'm so jealous of your amazing haul. I buy G1s and restore/clean them up as a hobby and it's so satisfying. I see some real gems in there! Will you show the rest of them sometime?
I might! It's pretty satisfying for me to watch the progress vid afterward with all the middle steps cut out. Maybe I'll do a more abridged pony-cleaning marathon. This box had SIX boys in it, and Leafy which is now the first Pretty Pal in my collection. Lots of TAFs, lots of Twinkle Eyes - definitely the best era of ponies.
Have you ever checked out RetroBlasting's RUclips Channel? They do 80's toys restoration, mostly boys b/c of the host Mike, but his wife Melinda restored her childhood ponies in much the same way and did a video of it to.
When I discovered the box and got permission to find a new home for it, I knew I had to call you, like pony Ghostbusters. If I ever find my own old ponies, I'll have to invest in a magic eraser and some conditioner. Also, hahaha yessss I totally called it!
While I am not into ponys, I actually also love buying cheap old vintage GIJOE, SW, Transformers, Anime toys that are broken, damaged or dirty and fixing/cleaning/ repainting them. Just like you said, is very very relaxing.
It's March 4 and I've been in lockdown for a full year. I'm watching Jenny wash plastic ponies. It brings me comfort. I could enjoy these peaceful crafts for hours.
Fellow longtime G1 collector here and this video is so nostalgic and relaxing for me! Makes me want to go fix up my G1s back home. I should start doing this to relax too!
Nothing wrong with having a hobby that reminds you of childhood. I still collect LEGO sets, and play my old GameCube from time to time, for the nostalgia but also because it’s a nice escape
Well Toby was an evil little sod when we were kids, he even ate insects for fun. He's now the proud father of two little girls and is the best dad ever!
not to be years late, but ths is still Such a good video, and i'm so up for more of this either here or on the patreon. this is so soothing and fun to watch.
I have such memories of doing eXACTLY this process from years ago when I was super active in the MLP Arena community and was actively collecting... good times!
I use fabric softener for the hair, works for all synthetic hair. I also collect MLP from the 80’s (I was born in 84) so I am super jealous of your haul!
I just bought a pony from Mercari for my friend, one she wanted when she was a child, and I immediately thought of this video and I’m gonna use it as a guide to clean up the pony for her! It’s a G3 Wysteria💜
I'm just super nostalgic seeing Barnacle in there! He was my main boy pony growing up. (He's the dark blue one with the pirate treasure mark, for anyone wondering. He came with a little pirate hat!)
You're 100% responsible for me appreciating and restoring g1 ponies after having g4 ruined for me twice by my ex- g1 has much less baggage and even if I didn't experience it firsthand, it's very nostalgic! Whenever I clean any ponies or touch them up, I think of this video!
something about this is so calming and honestly the old ponies are super cute. I had a few in my childhood (early 2000's) but I have no idea what generation they were but I think I may have encountered some of these old guys at friend's houses and stuff. I now have the strong urge to own some of these if I ever come across the opportunity to. They are super cute and feels a lot less intimidating than cleaning/restoring old fashion dolls.
I really love restoring ponies too! I like that every pony restorer somehow knows the wrap in papertowel around the leg trick, potentially without being told. I mean, I'd say it's intuitive, but it's also genius-level effective, so there's that. For a tighter set of curls, like your Cherries Jubilee or your Molasses, I loop the hair around a selection of pencils, then papertowel and band.
I... actually had some of these, a long, time ago. I would say it was my mother's idea, but that opening episode of MLP is actually kind of awesome. A Centaur with a beating heart in a bag that shoots darkness and turns Ponies into Dragons? Who wouldn't watch that!
This video inspired me to dog up and clean some of my old ponies. I was never too into my little pony when I was little, but I love how cute my ponies look now that they are clean!
I realise this video is old, but! I've heard you can remove ballpoint pen with acne cream? Pimple-bleach-stuff? It has to contain some ingredient, but I can't remember what it's called.
I've had a very difficult couple of days and this was surprisingly therapeutic to watch. Actually took my mind off some things for a moment. Thank you, Jenny.
Watching Jenny get genuine, sweet joy out of cleaning ponies is the best thing ever, after getting so much joy my self at her abject nerd rage. 10/10 would watch more ponies.
i dont know a lot about old ponies (or new ponies tbh, just like basic random moments i remember from years ago) but i love how unique each one is?? they all have different faces and poses and eyes, its gorgeous
I am using this as a guide and as anti anxiety for my horrific night anxiety. G3 is my personal favorite but god Jenny... This 6 minute video is my comfort blanket.
It bloody is relaxing. There's something that's really satisfying about cleaning and fixing things. Perhaps it feels like staving off the ineluctable, final arrival of death
That literally looks like my exact collection from the 90’s. The Pony Bride was my FAVORITE one! Ugh I wish I knew what the hell happened to all of mine
Like a few others, I don't really have an interest in Ponies, but I have watched this video so often because I used to do similar things with my Barbies and to restore the Barbies of my friends. So I found this video very relaxing.
I didn't think I had any interest in this, but this was oddly satisfying and enjoyable to watch?? I was mesmerized for whatever reason? Definitely has a Bob Ross quality of being relaxing! It was so wholesome and great! You should definitely show us how all your ponies look all cleaned up and together! I'm invested now.
This is so nostalgic for me, I had a good few of these exact ones when I was a kid. Although my mom cleared out our attic and threw all my old toys away, I still haven't gotten over that.
This is therapeutic. The lack of background music and time lapses makes this so much better, honestly. It makes me want to take this up as a hobby. Also! Have you tried nail polish remover or alcohol on the ballpoint pen? I'm curious.
I recently dug out my old ponies that used to belong to my older sisters but I kept and cleaned them up because I realized just how cute they are and the first pony in the video is the one that's my favourite! I only have four in total but it was a really nice surprise.
When I was a kid I used my MLPs as bath toys. Eventually they got a bit mouldy and my mum threw them away. Watching this makes me miss them all over again.
i wanna hear a video about your favorite ponies you’ve collected! the old ponies are so charming and interesting. you could put it in some sort of....internet friendly numbered list?
Omg when you stuck your arm in... it was like... so relieving. I am a gay boy born in 89. I used to play with my older sister's ponies. We had like 1 or 2. I can still remember the plasticky rubbery smell and feel.
There's something great about hearing people talk about something they are passionate about. I've never once been interested in MLP, but this was entertaining.
Fascinating b/c she's passionate about something in a world that I have no connection to, it really is kind of intimate. Like others have said, it is kind of mesmerizing. I'm just cruising through the internet, enjoy a lot of her humor, good stuff, but this is probably her most honest self portrayal.
I know this video is 4 years old now, but I only just came across it. I loved Pony Bride so much as a kid, she was my favourite. I even had a sticker of her that I got with the MLP magazine that I put on the wall.
I loved styling my ponies' manes and tails. My sister and I have had summer picnics with them and we'd dress them up and have a fashion show. And we'd also have carnivals since I have a bunch of playsets with rides, and it's all super fun! I play on the My Little Pony app and am just finishing up season 8 of MLP: FiM! Love your videos Jenny, and so glad to see you love MLP and Disney like me!
I would probably watch a whole channel dedicated just to this. I used to do the same, but with Barbies (all of my '80's Ponies from my childhood got thrown out years ago...it was very sad. :( It IS relaxing, and the results are pretty satisfying. If I could get a paying job doing stuff like this, I'd probably be a more serene and relaxed person.
I legit want another video of this. Like, a super long one. I was actually sad when this ended.
delightful mochas same. JENNY GIVE US MORE PONIES
I wanted to watch how she cleaned all the ponies from the box
Same here! I just keep coming back to this one, it's so satisfying😍
yeah same here
Not me. This is so different from Jenny's usual content, that I wouldn't expect much overlap of interested viewers.
well... this proves i literally don't care what the content is, as long as its jenny being jenny...
This is honestly the cutest and most pure hobby I have ever seen.
exept the pony called first base *sexual conetations*
ThatLaurenThing This is slowly becoming my hobby :D I've cleaned up G1 ponies, Little Pretty Pets, Fairy Tail birds, etc.

FOURTH
I think this is a good idea, and I too support it.
I have no interest in ponies but it was strangely addictive to watch them go from grubby to clean
It's that #oddlysatisfying vibe that you get from pressure washer videos, but with bonus Jenny
This video hits different after the bronycon video

I was just thinking that
Weird Question. Maybe. Do they still smell good? The MLP sweet-plastic scent is like a hallmark of my childhood.

I don't consider that part a tangent? But it is a nice relaxing video.

Remember Bob Ross and his painting show? Watching this is almost as relaxing.

Back in '88 my friend Toby melted his sisters My Little Ponies in a frying pan, it stank!
Alpine Newt Plays Games That is so freaking mean! LMAO 😂

Well Toby was an evil little sod when we were kids, he even ate insects for fun. He's now the proud father of two little girls and is the best dad ever!
I laughed so much imagining this. Glad to hear things worked out for Toby.
Pan frying his sister's ponies to 'best dad ever.' Seems unlikely.

My Little Pony back in like, 2004, was my favorite. They had little magnets on their feet it was amazing. Five year old me was obsessed.

This gives 'perfectly splendid' vibes
this is the satisfying equivalent to that scene in toy story 2 (you all know which one)
