I keep a little shot glass (you could also use a votive candle holder) next to my lipliner pencil cup specifically for the lip liners that get really short. That used to bug me too, when the pencils that need to be sharpened get "lost" because they start getting shorter than the others that i don't use as much and the retractable ones. (i'm glad there are options because i know people have different preferences, but i really HATE pencils that need to be sharpened, because i resent having to take the extra time to sharpen them, and it bothers me that they get shorter than my other pencils!)

It looks like a beautiful satin fabric on your eyes. Your version is definitely better than the photo, imo.
