Demonic Sweaters yes it is. They were originally intended for marching snares but according to their webpage, they belong also to drumset drumheads under snare batter heads. Mayve they develop this model for drumset & marching applications ( not sure though 😊 )
dhruv prrasana upon checking the head, I can't find any flaws which may cause the head to " eats " into the shell. It's smooth in all points where the head and the shell meets. Maybe some people experience it with the older versions. I've heard that Evans released many versions of their drumheads.
No, the bottom of this head is as smooth as a normal Mylar head. Don’t let people who are scared or don’t know what their talking about scare you away. There’s nothing coming from under the snare head that’s going to “chew” away your wooden snare bearing edge. I’ve had one on my Tama SLP walnut 14x6.5 with pure sound 30 strand snare wires for almost 2 years. I use a clear evans 500 and this snare pops! It cuts through my cymbals, guitars, bass, and our keyboard. It can handle a thud or you can tighten this bad boy up. Either way the bottom has a protective coating and feels like any other head. It’s the batter side that has the “woven” feel. Anyone that I know to use this head swears by it now.
Isn't this a marching snare head?
