Although this movie was better than the last (which wasn't vreat at all) it wasn't really that good...they tried to lean in too much on what made the 1st 2 movies work that it seemed forced... They used most of michael bay's signiture camera shots (including michael bay himself) even though he didn't direct this time but did produce...
and i don't know exactly what's going on with martin lawrence about his health and he can deny something is wrong all day but it's clear he is not well...so much so that i think that it was rather cathartic in some way that day addressed his so called "awakening" the way they did... i'm willing to bet that they recreated those scenes cause martin actually experienced them. Maybe that's why he's been slow moving and speaking these last few years.🤔
Lastly, the way they teased the "mission" with Mike's son at the end of bad boys 3 lead everyone to believe he would be his new partner (due to marcus wanting to retire and all in the last movie)...
they addressed THAT mission in passing only in this latest movie....i guess the script changed for what they had planned but i bet it was more action heavy and less comical which meant less martin so i'm guessing that's why the change was made...
His son would have been an excellent addition going forward and phasing out marcus cause you know they'll have to at some point...
i will say that reggie stole his scene which is probably the best part of the whole movie but it's sad to see martin on screen like that, although he did try to fight through it, you can tell most of his lines were adlibbed because they needed to be... It's sad for sure, but i think martin needs to retire and enjoy his remaining days with his family... yes, i'm speculating but the writing is on the wall, some people just don't want to believe it...eventually, it will come out like it did for bruce willis.
