  • Vitamin B12 deficiency can occur in all kinds of individuals. It may be of particular concern if you are following a vegan or vegetarian diet, or taking medications that reduce your absorption ability of vitamins. This video looks at what exactly a vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to and the ways in which you can obtain vitamin B12 through your diet or by taking B12 supplements.

I view and hear on my computer which is just fine in nearly all cases. I upped my computer volume and also the video volume and still had to strain to hear. It did not help that the music distracts and the speaker falls off at the end of every sentence. Just because you can hear just fine does not mean that many others can. Your advice is unnecessary.

Ashok Ravichandran well, I myself also had b12 deficiency bc I was vegan for a long time and had a lot of symptoms too, had a balance problem, numbness in my left leg, joint pain, my both legs and arms weakness, bad fatigue and had digestive issue since I got sick, and it’s all b12 deficiency. I was asking because if you are not taking any injections just like me, as long as you fix your gut by diet and taking probiotics, you probably wanna try the tincture Veganb12 from Global Healing, I got that and in just a month, a lot of my symptoms went away, now I’m only dealing with fatigue feeling sometimes because people are saying that it takes time to heal from b12 deficiency especially the feeling of having anemia, you also wanna eat more potassium, folate and iron high food for you to be able to recover fast and add probiotics in your diet. It takes at least 6-12 months to be fully recovered and a lot of people are saying the same thing. Hope you’ll feel better soon too.

Many of them are indeed that way. HOWEVER, we don't need to let that stop us from making suggestions. I can't count the times I've asked questions regarding mine or my Mom's health & turned out I was exactly right. We need to respect the docs but they need to respect us too..

B12 is water-soluble. Just go buy some take it and see if you feel better. Some docs just wanna push pills sadly. Not saying that's your docs case but a lot of them are literally pushers but they have no stigma since they have a degree on the wall. Be careful out here.

I thought I was dying, before I was diagnosed with Vit B12 deficiency, it felt like my body was shutting down. It was an extreme effort just to walk, I felt absolutely lifeless. Even washing dishes was exerting too much energy. Fortunately I was diagnosed immediately, by my description of the symptoms. Obviously I had to be tested, but my Dr. was correct.
Strangely, shortly before I need a top up of vitamins, I get a craving for cow's milk. As well as extreme fatigue.

@Fluffy Hamster Milk contains negligible hormones and hormones are denatured in the stomach anyway from the stomach acid and digestive enzymes. Cow milk from organic cows is very healthy but goat milk is a good alternative if the cow milk does not sit well in your stomach.

And Lactose to feed all the lactobacilli in the gut. I never mentioned anything about KETO - I'd always recommend a balanced diet of starches, proteins and fats and a little sugar thrown in aswell. Many doctors don't know: Low B12 can also be the result of insufficient
vitamin D. Your body needs vitamin D in order to absorb the B12 in your
food. If you live above latitude 35 deg, in cloudy overcast or wintery
type places and/or don't get outdoors then you are likely on the low
side for vitamin D. Most older folks don't get much sunlight regardless
of where they live and will be low D. So get your D level tested or
just assume you are D low and take 1000-2000 IU per day along with
    eating meats.

A couple of comments: first, true vitamin deficiency with overt symptoms is one thing. Vitamin insufficiency is far more common and generally without symptoms. Insufficiency is a concern because there can be serious consequences over time. Second thought: the advice given here, to speak to your doctor about vitamin insufficiency and supplementation, is not particularly helpful as most doctors have never received training on the subject. Case in point: a friend of my wife was finding herself becoming confused, with memory issues. She also had difficulty finishing her thoughts and sentences. Her doctor chalked it up to aging (she is 75, slender and fit). No tests, nothing. At my suggestion she started taking a modest 600 mcg B12 twice a week, and she saw a remarkable improvement. That improvement was slow, on the order of many months, but she's perked up, has a good memory now, feels more vital and optimistic, and no longer presents as an 'old lady'. Please, don't wait for your doctor to bring this up.

    American Academy of Neurology:
People with inflammatory bowel disease may also be at risk for
developing nerve damage and other neurological problems, according to
research that will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology’s
    59th Annual Meeting in Boston, April 28 - May 5, 2007.
Inflammatory bowel disease includes digestive disorders such as
ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease that cause swelling and/or
bleeding in the intestines. For the study, researchers compared 103
people with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis to 51 people with
other digestive disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis
    and chronic heartburn.
The researchers found that those with inflammatory bowel disease were
about four times more likely to develop neuromuscular conditions,
including carpal tunnel syndrome and small fiber neuropathy, which
causes pain and lack of feeling in the feet. Those with bowel disease
were also more than six times more likely to also have a disorder called
sensorimotor polyneuropathy, a nerve disease that can cause weakness,
pain, and numbness. These diseases were more common in women with bowel
    disease than men.
“Inflammatory bowel disease patients commonly suffer from several other
medical conditions, like B12 deficiency and glucose intolerance. These
nerve conditions we have reported are often not diagnosed by their
primary care physicians,” said lead study author Francisco De Assis
Gondim, MD, MSc, PhD, Professor of the Federal University of Ceará in
Ceará, Brazil, and a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
“People with inflammatory bowel disease who develop new symptoms, such
as pain or numbness in the feet, should see a doctor.”

People should know that cyanocobalamin is the cheapest & least effective form of B12.
    Better forms are:
-- methylcobalamin (inexpensive & easy to find anywhere)
-- adenosylcobalamin (harder to find, best found online or at health food store)
-- hydroxocobalamin (hardest to find, best found online or at health food store)
In my experience, methyl works for increase energy in my body and hydroxo works best for my brain/cognitive issues. (but others may have different experience)
If your energy drink or multivitamin contains B12, it is most likely cyano... Your body has to use energy to convert it to a usable form of cobalamin. If your multivitamin uses cyano, it's junk and most of it is going out in your pee. Throw them away and get a better multivitamin. Better yet, learn more details about what *your* specific body needs more of, and buy the different elements separately.

Because it is poorly absorbed... like 1% even in the best circumstances. I think sublingual is only 10%. Besides it’s not supposed to be the type of vitamin you can overdose on. Supposedly any extra is stored in the liver. It’s a really finicky vitamin and larger than the others so it just doesn’t absorb well even in the healthiest person.
