I've done a few fundraising events in the past and luckily been ok sounds like you had your hands full with that one. If I've had a bad experience with a particular type of event then I'll defo won' t be doing anything like that again

Ive never been approached to do one tbh. I would like to gift a wedding if I get the opportunity as I agree it is nice to give back, Even if the they can't give you anything in return. I don't get to do weddings if Im honest. A lot of hotels around me get paid a commission by entertainment companies to be recommended.

Done a few before, not worth the hassle, never get any exposure and nothings what it seems, nice selfie booth though.

I honestly would never do a gig completely free, we have costs and expenses running a business not to mention wear and tear on equipment. God forbid if someone hurt themselves on the dance floor who is liable?? I would of said to them I will do it for cost price whatever that is to you. Great Video mate

It's great to give back but with ndas ans no footage from. It seems daft doing it free as you can't even share the joy with others in your channel etc.
Your a well established wedding DJ I'm Sure there are ways to give back without it costing you and your family wages from your normal jobs.
We do loads of stuff for macmillan and we usually charge for services with a discount and then I give my personal time free or charge so they get a host for free but pay for the other entertainment on offer. 😊

Hi Mark. Hope you're keeping well. My views on this would be quite simple. What are you hoping to get out of doing this as you're in business and there has to be a 'What's in it for me' element? You're really busy all the time so it's unlikely to be to promote yourself to fill your diary. If it's to give something back for a good cause you can still do that by charging less. If you're providing DJ, booth, singer etc that's quite easily 1k+ worth of services you're giving. Are all the attendees at the event contributing as much as you are? Highly unlikely. So i'd be quoting your full price for services and discounting it to reflect 'your contribution'. But i wouldn't be doing it for free. You're too good at what you do and too well established to have to do that. Without being totally hypocritical there i've just done a gig for a new Irish TV show being aired in August and i did it for free! 😂 My reasons were that it was only for an hour on a Tuesday night, a different experience seeing how a show is put together and the promise of some still pictures of the disco from the tv company for my website. So although i did it for free i feel like i got something out of it. Bottom line is you're a business and the hotel staff, caterers etc all got paid so why shouldn't you? You've done it the once but i'd let someone else put their hand up for the next one. Will you be in Spain this summer? Would be great to catch up. Give Sharon and 'little' Leyton our best!
