  • The British Shooting Show this year saw the addition of the Airsoft Surgeon Championships, a highlight of the IPSC Action Air calender!
    With competitors attending from all over the world and stages that would usually be seen at a level 5 world shoot, it made for an exciting competition.
    We look over the highlights with MagLoad's Conners presenting and interviews with Airsoft Surgeon Founder Clarence Lai and Match Organiser Chris Kong.

    You would think everyone in the states would be extra tic for this type of competition. The guns themselves are a bit spendy, but the ammo is beyond economical and the skills from air soft to real steel translate extremely well. You would think cheap trigger time and competition would be looked upon more favorably.

    OK. I live in the US and have been shooting Steel Challenge, USPSA, ICORE, and IDPA matches for many years but with the ammo now becoming extinct, I'm shooting these matches with 22's which at first was frowned on and not welcomed. But now they are allowing it because most can't get primers to reload or buy 9mm ammo. I'm going to get one of these airsoft guns, Open or CO, to practice with(draws and first shots are awesome practice) and if any organizations pop up for this here in Oregon, I'll shoot. I just want to "stay in the game" so to speak.

    Other than the aspect of real firearms, do you think this hasn't picked up in the States because no airsoft field owner/manager understands the complexities of being a match director and they haven't found a way to make it profitable? Even non-affiliated shooting events. Even in California where ammo is scarce, you just don't see this.

    It's great to promote shooting sports but without live ammunition, you're not learning any recoil management skills and there are no power factor divisions. Ammunition has been difficult to get in NA and this airsoft has merits in that respect, but I certainly wouldn't want to compete competitively with airsoft. Mainly concerned with developing bad habits that would result in a DQ.
    It's fascinating to me that UK has so willingly castrated itself in terms of civil liberties and the privileges of it's own citizens.

      To an extent, i like the gun laws here in the UK. We never needed a reason to bear arms like you did in the US. We dont have any wildlife that poses any danger, and we never had a frontier with hostile natives to worry about. We simply dont need to carry on our little island.
      And because firearms have always been controlled there are very few guns amongst criminals when compared to the US.
      Im pro gun, i shoot myself, but i wouldn't be in favour of legal carry here in the UK because its not necessary

      @@johnredcorn2476 I dont carry either, in my area i dont need to. Its a personal decision and not one to be made by corruptable lawmakers who are in no way legally obligated to protect you or your loved ones. Not needing a firearm doesn’t justify prohibiting access to one, the notion is straight authoritarian. When you look to authority to make your life decisions for you then you're no longer a person, just tax revenue.

    Apologies for sounding disrespectful but seeing adults running around with toy guns on an ipsc course of fire is just pathetic. This if for kids. All this is good for is to introduce your kids to ipsc in a relatively safe enviroment or as a training guide to teach new ipsc shooters how to read a course of fire and plan shooting strategy without actually firing live ammo. But to have adults fully rigged up with toy guns like its a real shooting sport is laughable. If firearms are not allowed in you country then do archery.

    • @Gunroomtv
      @Gunroomtv  7 месяцев назад

      Mo, it's a shame you see it like that. Many countries have firearms restrictions and Action Air is all that some people can do in the pistol discipline. In the UK Action Air is seen as both a sport in its own right and a way to practice for full bore pistol that UK residents have to travel abroad for which can be expensive. Archey is hardly the same as IPSC shooting!

    • @mohammedyusufsalie2543
      @mohammedyusufsalie2543 7 месяцев назад

      @@Gunroomtv I do humbly apologize. I think that I am just projecting. In my country there has been an onslaught against private firearm ownership for the last 20 years. The ruling party has been going after sport shooting in particular and wanted to offer us airsoft as an alternative. No self respecting IPSC shooter would accept that.

      @@mohammedyusufsalie2543 We would never advocate giving up real firearms for Airsoft that's for sure! The world is certainly making it very difficult for sports shooters and I fear it's going to get worse, we all need to stick together as much as possible!
