  • In this video we answer the question: Is D&D devil worship? Dungeons and Dragons has become very popular lately and it has some people worried. Do they have a right to fear? Are the minds of the youth being polluted by Satanic "Games" or is D&D a perfectly reasonable way to glorify God? We also discuss his ministry Divine Digital Design and much more!

When folks claim D&D is demonic, just realize they rolled a Nat 1 on perception check.

Is monopoly devil worship??? Is war devil worship? Is the imagination being used devil worship? I think the worship of something with ill intentions as a prospect for the devil is devil worship but not dnd or games like that...

The Most High/God used Parable, storytelling, and symbolism to tell stories and teach lessons. So DND, Vampire the Masquerade, Cyberpunk and even Shadowrun are not demonic games, but it depends on the game master/Storyteller... Maybe I am lucky and have just found friends who are of the faith- if not Christian at the very least have some background with the Abrahamic faiths.
I took inspiration from the books of Enoch and Revelation to create my own homebrew world, Genochia. Made by one Prime god, The Old One. He created all life, but because entities from other planes/reflections began to interbreed, it caused corruption and madness in the land, so he called his Celestials and Dragons, and began Severing(the process of splitting the natures) of all the monsters in the land. After which The Old One decided to slumber for a time, and leave his people to grow and develop on their own. In that time he appointed four of his Celestials, his archangels to merely preserve the world and keep the peace in his absence.
The Old One already handle much of the corruption, so when he slumbered there were still leftover remnants of corruption. This lead to the age of heroes, men and women who would travel the lands, being peace and rescue the weak. And through these heroes deeds, they began to ascend. When The Old One first created the world in the age of creation, he put a part of himself/a valued trait in each of his children, so that when they grow and either actively or inadvertently pursued this aspect, they would awaken. This lead to longer lifespans, higher powers, and much more. The Archangels saw mortals beginning to ascend, so then they kicked off the Age of gods. They were gods in title, but not in omnipresence, just long lived and had more tools and abilities than the common person, the Archangels then gifted each ascended being a magic card.
The cards conferred status as true/ordained gods, but in actuality they were more like leashes. And even then the Archangels outclassed them, because they possessed a higher authority than them. Even then, they weren't truly gods, but more like Powers or Thrones(angels with authority over Nations and peoples). My players got an understanding of managing a nation and even trying to do what was best for their people. I'm the end the Old One came back and have his children a final trial to have an external threat.
All in all, it brought me closer to God, and as a person who is an artist, whose creativity comes from God, I try my best to revere him and glorify him in all I do and create. And I even pray for his guidance on stories.

9:41 I'm struggling to contain my irritation here. The idea that D&D is devil worship is legitimately an idea that pushes my patience with religious people to the limit.

We are simply saying that like all things it can be used wrongly. So, for instance, if you literally worship the deities in the game then you are probably doing something really stupid that could become more than you signed up for. However, we love D&D and think that people who say D&D is devil worship are really silly.

12:34 Nathan. If you can't differentiate between fantasy and reality you've got problems. If you can't separate yourself from the game you have problems that need help from professionals.

Have you never been ticked off at someone for getting your character killed because they did something stupid? That is what he is talking about. I have had it happen. I have literally left a session angry at someone for playing stupidly. He is saying if that happens then we need to let it go. We are trying to get more Christians into D&D and kill the stigma that developed in the 80's. There are actually a lot of us Christians who play the game and love it. We just want others to get to enjoy the game as much as we do.

@@TwitchyThelogian I get that and welcome more people to the hobby but no I have never gotten angry at someone for getting my character hurt or killed off. At all. As far as I'm concerned they did what they thought best and if my character gets killed it's an opportunity to play a new or similar build.

@@TwitchyThelogianyou're looking at an uphill battle. If you want to believe in whatever that's on you but don't bring your beliefs to the game table. We're here to play a game not attend a sermon.

@@AtomSkeptic I don't preach when I play D&D. I get to know people and enjoy being around the table with them. The personal relationships often result in good Gospel conversations. However, my beliefs go with me wherever I am, and those beliefs determine how I act to some extent. Sure, I get into character and do savage stuff here and there, but I try to be a good representative of Christ. That is all I meant. I didn't mean I would take over the table and preach the whole time.

@TheSinBin512 Nice. I have played for about 19 years now. To be fair, I have heard very few people say that D&D is devil worship. I just know that there are legalistic people out there who are confused. So, I try to help them out :)
