I recently did a solo motorcycle trip from Mumbai to Kanyakumari and then to Mahabalipuram, all along the coast, and it was such a beautiful experience. Loved and enjoyed all the states I traveled through, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra.

One specialty of this place is that the water level in the river is higher than the surrounding land, the water needs to be pumped out continuously for cultivation, Now mechanized pumps do it, in olden times this was done manually by a rotary wooden blades. the other place where they cultivate under sea level is Holland. if you see the videos of these places during cultivation, we can see paddy fields are below the water level and separated by wide mud bunds. in this video also if we observe carefully, we can see the other places are below sea level

15 years ago I went on a 24 hour kattuvellam, house boat ride. The experience was so overwhelming and the beauty so intense that I'll never forget it. We saw lots of birds, kingfishers were the prettiest, most colourful ones. But out breakfast got snatched by a bird next morning😁

OMG this brings back memories. Spent one night on one of those boats in 2013. The food was incredible, I especially LOVED the pineapple dish. Super friendly people, Kerala is called God's own country. Sitting in the lounge area in the evening, this bat kept flying through, attracted by the fruits on the table. Love this episode. Thanks Davud. I did this trip in 1989 the backwaters from Allepey to quilon but my husband and l went on a public ferry and it was packed with locals and took 9 hours. The scenery was amazing. They never had the beautiful houseboats available for tourists back then. Your trip was outstanding and the food made my mouth water. You visited only Alleppey in Kerala?... We have a lot of things to show you... I wish to take you around all places in Kerala for free, when you come back next time. I think no restrictions in the boat for the staff to have food with you, if they want they can eat with you... but may be the food may not be so good or they want to have some liquor or already had or they may be shy because they don't know how to speak with you in English well.. Normally they show respect towards guests. Kerala loves football than any states in India.

I have been on this boat. Kerala is superb. Jackfruits,cashew nuts, pineapples,fish, prawns, so many exotic food. The scenery is fantastic. The trip is enjoyed more if you are with friends. Singing laughing. Kerala is stunningly lovely. These type of boats only in Kerala

Hi, Dawud, it's nice to see you enjoying food in boat House, We mix rice and curry well n put it in the mouth, then take some portion of side dishes called pallya cabbage n beetroot in between the lunch, we are not going to mix side dishes with rice and we like to have either completely veg or non veg food, don't like to mix
If you go in a Shikara, that will give you another kind of experience. When the boat halts you should have explored the local areas. People are so friendly and nice there.
Hey Davud. That is Tiger Prawns not lobster. It seems way too expensive. Nearly $30 Australian for a kilo. You can get it here in Sydney for that price. It is a rip off!

You visited only Alleppey in Kerala?... We have a lot of things to show you... I wish to take you around all places in Kerala for free, when you come back next time. I think no restrictions in the boat for the staff to have food with you, if they want they can eat with you... but may be the food may not be so good or they want to have some liquor or already had or they may be shy because they don't know how to speak with you in English well.. Normally they show respect towards guests. Kerala loves football than any states in India.
Hi Brother… I think it is not that they feel underprivileged or someone’s fear. In India guests are treated like gods so it is in the culture and what we say “Atithi Devo Bhava”. Even in our homes we serve our guests and only eat after them.
@SassySam You are mixing everything here. Being invited and hosting a guest is altogether a different thing. Respecting others culture where you live is also equally important. And yes you can see the same culture in all south asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal as historically all were part of ancient indian civilisation till modern date of 19th-20th century when all disruptions happened.

I have been on this boat. Kerala is superb. Jackfruits,cashew nuts, pineapples,fish, prawns, so many exotic food. The scenery is fantastic. The trip is enjoyed more if you are with friends. Singing laughing. Kerala is stunningly lovely. These type of boats only in Kerala
