What do you think of the compound scroll saw method for the ornaments? I hope some people try this out for themselves. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy Happy New Year!!!!
Haha yeah. I love those ornaments. It brings a lot of smiles to people's faces. I plan on making my own beard ornaments and beard beads out of wood eventually. Just need to figure out the logistics of it first
Thank you for this awsom demo. Im going to purchase one of the christmas ornament pattern books and do some for gifts. Again thank you for taking time in all the set up. Wonderful instruction.
You're welcome. Can't wait to have time to get back to making videos. It's a ton of fun but feels like a second job haha. Good luck on everything. If you have any questions don't hesitate to comment and I'll try to help you out 😁
Most excellent instructional video. The video was super high quality resolution and your step-by-step verbal instructions were super easy to comprehend. The finished product was beautiful! I know a couple of seniors at our woodshop have made these, but they are a bit jittery, and you can tell in the final product. I have some basswood that im going to try it on, but I know itll look bland without any grain pattern to it. Then I'll try a species has a bit more grain structure. Cheers!
Thank you so much for this. I am honored that you thought so highly of it. I intend to do more instructional videos in the future when I have the time and hearing this was a nice boost for me. I hope you have tons of fun trying out different species to see how they look!
Thank you! It's been a crazy festival season for me but I am planning to get back into the video making soon. I want to do more instructional videos as well. Excited to move forward with it. Be on the lookout 😁
Lmao yeah always building up more stuff for festival season. "Never" anytime to clean the shop, only time to make more cool stuff to sell to people. One of these days I'll clean it haha.
@@countrycraftscustomwoodworking Me too "maybe" . But My wife keeps nagging me to Clean it up and I tell her," , I can`t , cos If I do that ,then I won`t know where anything is " (True) 😂 Hey ! I just love your Christmas decorations by the way. I must give that a go If I can find some spare time soon . Thanks for sharing the method of attack .👍🏻. just subscribed 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm really new to this and have a scroll saw I have never used. I'm interested since Christmas is around the corner but have a question as to which blades you use and which blades you feel are easiest to start with for someone who has NEVER used a scroll saw ?
You can never go wrong with Olsen, specifically the PGT series, Precision Ground Tooth, blades. They are an absolute workhorse of a blade. I've also started using Pegas Modified Geometry blades, and they are working out amazing so far. Both options I listed are pinless blades, which means make sure your scroll saw has the ability to use that style. Pinless means the heads where the blades get locked in have a little locking bolt that twists into the blade locking in place before putting tension on. Hope your adventure into scroll sawing is a wonderful one! It's an addicting craft to delve into.
Nice looking ornament. What size blade are you using? I'm having a hard time getting the books. Woodcraft is out of stock in there warehouse. I found them from Fox Chapel the publisher
I use Olsen's PGT Series blades. I pulled some specs offline I'll paste it here. No. 49502 Univ. No. 5RG Olson 495R .045" width .018" thick TPI 12/8 Rev.
If I remember correctly when I speed up the videos it's usually 800%. Going through 1.5" you want a nice even pace so you don't bow the blades and angle your cuts. Once you get the hang out it you can probably get one done in 20-30 ish minutes.
Hello! For the soft material that I'm using, pine in this case, you can go full speed and it doesn't burn. Similar woods like basswood and cedar should be fine as well. I would assume harder woods you would want slower speeds.

How much is the cutting part of the tutorial sped up?

Hi! How fast are you running the scroll speed? Like 80%?
