- My first short film I made for film school. Motorcycles are a big part of life. I wanted to make a film to show how intimate we get with the road. Most people ride to get away from the daily grind and be alone. Even if you are riding with a friend, your own mind is what you have a conversation with. Others like to just take a drive in their car, but once you ride a motorcycle, the open road is never the same.

Some people don’t realize the simple beauty the open road can have.
Trapped in their box with loud music, air conditioning and tinted windows,
they travel these beautiful roads with blinders.
The best way to experience the open road, is on a motorcycle.
The only thing in your ears is the roar of the engine,
And your own voice in your head.
Your mind gets lost in the details of the surrounding nature.
You feel like you can ride into the clouds.
You discover the beauty, of a simple road in the middle of nowhere.
Emotions go through your head like yellow lines on the road.
For that moment you’re on your bike,
You feel free.
Free to feel. Free to think. Free to live.

Damn right! Bought a new Harley in 13, a 110th Anniversary model, Triglide. Left Denver and rode north to I-80. Took 80 to Reno. Spent the night. Next morning headed Richmond, crossed the bay to San Quentin, caught 101 and headed down the coast. Crossed the Golden Gate, cruised around San Francisco for a day, next morning caught hi way 1 south to Morro Bay, then inland to Bakersfield, across Death Valley to Hiway 95, then south to Vegas. From Vegas to Phoenix, then eastward thru the Tonto National Forest to I-25 at Socorro New Mexico, then north thru Albuquerque and on to Denver. A helluva ride and vacation. I can definitely relate to this video.

I've saved this video 10 years ago and I still watch it.

This video is genius. The freedom on the motorcycle is not the freedom in terms of movement ....but freedom from your mind. The cliche is true. You can find zen on a motorcycle. Sadly this video has not been discovered by many.
I agree I been struggling with depression my whole life and the moment I sat on a bike for my first time I couldn't stop smiling I couldn't ride it cz I had no experience on a motorcycle with that much power cz it was a zx14r superbike and would have ripped my arms off but I now have a ktm exc 500 with a power commander on it and I ride almost everyday seeing as I live in texas that is hot af and im always smiling on the inside of my helmet riding is the best antidepressant ive ever had

Everything stated in the video is so true.
It is the open road on my motorcycle where I go to heal and find life again.
I struggle with CEN and Adult emotional trauma and had the life sucked out of me by some very cruel people and the only place I have to escape the pain and live again is on my motorcycle.
There is something about the open road on a motorcycle that takes away a life of pain and sorrow and breaths life back into you.
The thoughts, the memories the people who hurt you are gone as though they never existed in the first place.
You become "FREE" truly and entirely "FREE"!

A strange thing... yesterday as I was working on my old bike, I was thinking about this theme of freedom in my mind as I go about in a Zen like existence on a moving motorcycle. A great and thoughtful video, Thank you.
If everybody rode every day there would be less stress. I always lost the days problems by time I was in 3rd gear and smiling by 4th,5th and 6th was just heaven.
Peace... Serenity... things sometimes so hard to come by... and yet while watching this, hearing his words, and seeing the ride, I felt a soft warm feeling coming over me, chills, a sort of spiritual experience that I am lucky enough to have when I ride... that I was lucky enough to feel, sitting here at my desk, watching this.
He put my thoughts and emotions in writing... and then set them in motion.

An old man was sitting on a porch at a country store one day when another gray haired soul pulled in on his motorcycle. He asked the old man on the porch, “Do you know where this road comes out?” “This road goes all the way to California” he said as he wearily peered into the distance. “But... I have never been down it.” The Biker looked down the road for a second, took a deep breathe and cranked it up. The old man watched until he couldn’t see him anymore, and listened until he couldn’t hear anymore. There are only 2 kinds of people.

Andrew - Nice short. Keep up the good work. Time and space morphs into a whole new dimension on the open road, with no barrier between you and the eternal here after but the machine and your will to live. The more miles ridden the great the time space warp. We who ride understand.
