I love this, so nice to do your neighbors. I finally bought a snow blower in Jan 2023 when we had record breaking snow in Utah. I always end up doing the neighbors too and sometimes all the way around the block, I don't mind at all. I bought the Craftsman 208CC gas from Lowe's, 24", two-stage, it's a beast. Nice video! I'm impressed with this battery powered Ego!

That snow can't be that wet if it is wet at all. I just purchased this with the metal auger, and just had 5" of wet snow and it couldn't throw it more then 5'. It would stall becasue it was just pushing the snow in front of it. I know people will say that single stage don't work well in wet snow, but my neighbour's cheap gas Yark Machine, which was literally half the price of this, did his property with no issues. The metal auger is useless because any snow that would require a metal auger, this machine doesn't have the power to move anyway. The plow left some snow at the end of the drive way that was starting to ice, the second this thing touched the snow, it stalled. My neighbour was nice enough to move it with his.
Sounds like you're taking too much and overloading the machine. Let the machine do the work, especially on the first cut!
Okay, it's funny that you say this because I also have two metal auger units as well. I feel like they barely throw snow! It's fine it gets it out of the way for that pass but when I used to bring my 2112 to clear the sidewalks and the front entrance it would throw snow like 20 some odd feet in the same snow.
I can only assume because of the weight of the metal auger it doesn't throw it as far?
I personally have yet to have an issue with the metal auger other than it's throwing capabilities because the office doesn't seem to get wet snow or at least we don't get to it before it turns to ice.
But I tell you what if you give the metal auger it's time without pushing it it will chop the ice like crazy and I actually have to turn it to the lowest setting because I'm worried about the ice breaking windows.
My experience with my single-stage EGO has been exactly the same as yours. I do not believe that the snow in this video is heavy and wet.
I've had my new EGO snow blower SNT 2120AP for about 6 weeks. It's the auger power-assist model. I've already replaced the scraper blade once, so I really need to do your skid mod. Your model does just as good as mine, so no sense spending the extra money on mine. Nice of you to do your neighbors yards too.

FINALLY The first snow blow video where he clears from the center to the outside. Maximizes forward motion ONLY and minimizes FOOLING with the chute orientation. Intellect prevails.
Yes, clearing from the center to the outside is smart. However, very often the WIND determines the clearing pattern. If the wind is too strong you have to blow in the wind direction. On the other hand, clearing from the center is essential in TRUE heavy wet snow, because the machine is too weak to throw that type of snow all the way across the driveway.

Your EGO snow blower works impressively well. Wonder how old is it. You mentioned having modified it. Can you advise what you have done on it?

No way in hell could we hear you if you were using a gas blower. Very impressive! I don't have a blower,as I only have walks,but do I ever hate that heavy,wet stuff!

Also I watched your skid mod video. What exactly do the skids do? Make it easier to glide? I understand the blade was getting damaged. Is that the main reason? Sorry if I sound dumb. I am. 😅
I initially put them on because I was having an issue with the scraper bar getting chewed up every three snow storms. And they totally worked to fix that issue. What I didn't expect is how much better it is gliding over bumps cracks uneven concrete and asphalt while still preventing the scraper bar from getting chewed up or ending up with the handle being jammed into my stomach unexpectedly when hitting a crack in the sidewalk or driveway.
A happy accident I suppose.
Thank you for the good review. I just bought a EGO SNT2112 and I used it to today for first time, I noticed the markings of scraper blade while cleaning the drive way. Is it normal? or Do I need to adjust the scraper blade? Kindly let me know. Thanks.
Unfortunately, the scraper blade is the biggest pit fall of the entire machine l. There is no adjustment that can be made, which is why I modified all of my blowers with ego skids shoes.

Nice vid. I was debating whether to buy a 1 stage or 2 stage. This vid help in the decision on that. But my major hangup is the battery - cost & longevity.
I'm glad I could help! There are inexpensive knockoff batteries that work great if the stock batteries ever die! I'm still on my original batteries but I did get some knockoffs to try at the shop!
What part of Colorado you in, im here in the Colorado Springs. Yeah, we dont get snow here like we used to as well.

I bought my EGO single-stage snowblower based largely on videos like this one that claim that these machines can blow HEAVY, WET snow. Let me correct that misstatement. If you can make this claim, you don't know what heavy, wet snow actually is. In the Northeast we rarely see dry snow or much snow that looks like what you're blowing in this video. The norm here, especially in the last decade, is VERY heavy, wet snow, and the EGO single-stage snowblower is no match for it, it's close to useless. In truly wet snow, the maximum throw distance is literally about 5 feet, but it's more likely that you will find yourself stopping every minute to clear a big plug of solidified snow out of the chute (even if you lubricate the chute, as I do), until you give up and get your shovel. I own this machine and 9 times out of 10 we get snow that is very difficult to impossible for it to handle. Viewers, watch these videos critically. He says over and over that this is heavy, wet snow. It's nothing compared to what we get in the Northeast. You need to match your snowblower choice to your local conditions.

@@alouise3557 I don't think an 85-year-old should have to do his own snow removal. However, I know that plowing is expensive and it's near impossible to hire teenagers to do any physical work these days. I suggest calling a social service agency and asking about local resources to help your father. I have not replaced my EGO single stage. There is an EGO two stage. It's much heavier and more expensive but has self-propulsion.
@@oakwhittler4851 My father is OCPD and refuses to allow anyone to work on his house/property because he's convinced they will not do as good of a job as he can. When he worked as a carpenter, he always believed he did the better job than anyone else (OCPD). I decided that whatever snow gadget I gave him he would find something wrong with it so I got him a different gift instead for Christmas. He didn't like that either so I'll be returning it. I got the EGO SNT2125AP. With the rubber auger with assist and heated handles. I live in metro Detroit and did 2 large driveways that were iced over. I got good throw distance. I was able to clear the mess at the end of the driveway. I just bought the EGO chute cleaner too however the chute has not clogged yet. I got the model as I was worried about the uneven bricks I would run into plus it seems like upgraded model. For single stage I am good so far with the storm that just hit. With iced over snow a couple days later. Also there is an APP called Shovlr and it's basically an app to higher people quickly to clear your driveway. Or just call around your local area. 85 year old should be chilling no matter how stubborn. There is too many heart attacks from shoveling or any work outside in winter.
Remember to start in the middle of your driveway too so you are not having to change chute direction. Just start in center and keep going in a circle
I think you need at least 4” to get it to throw snow like that.
In any case you should show how it works after a plow comes through.
Depends on the density. Wet snow goes a long way (sometimes). Light fluffy snow just kinda burps out of the machine (for the most part).

For my needs, no. We get one maybe two snow storms a year where a two-stage would be useful.
Just picked up this model with the steel auger for $369 on sale. Snow should come November.
Would you upgrade to the 2 stage ego? What’s you’re thoughts on that snow blower?
I'd love one, but in my area it might get used to its potential once a year max. We can have a blizzard and the next day it's 60°.
Snow doesn't stay around here as much as it used to when I was a kid.
My only thought is the extra components likely cut down on run time, but I've never used one so that's purely speculation.
@@meunsupervised7320 I’m in the same boat. I live in Maryland and we don’t get as much as we used to. I currently have a 18inch corded snowjoe that’s single stage. The cord is annoying and they didn’t have battery at the time. I just find it that the single stage doesn’t throw the snow that far. I feel like when I turn around, I’m throwing the previous pass snow. At this point it’s thicker and more compact, which makes the snow blower struggle to throw the upcoming passes. And when the snow trucks come they throw it all back at the bottom of the driveway and that’s even more compacted and slushy. The ego 2 stage is larger for storage too. But it’s a beast. You clean a lot of the side walks and your neighbors… it might be worth it for you to get it hahaha
@@lmSteveo That sounds awful! I often turn down my throttle to prevent the snow from going too far. I worry about rocks and debris hitting windows. I try to judge the speed it chews the snow with the distance it throws.
If I have it all the way up it will throw snow up to 35'-40' which is well over the lawn.
Now that I think of it, another hold up is the speed. I think the two stages speed is regulated by the drive wheels.
I move pretty quick with the single stage.
Probably faster than I should, but I have a lot of ground to cover when it snows to clear everything for all of my neighbors on the block.

I own a few companies, day trade, volunteer probably more than I should and make videos about snow blowing purely because people seem to enjoy them.
I bought my new EGO snow blower SNT2125AP and used it for 3 day in a row and destroyed the scraper blade, so I had to replace it and also I did the your modification / addition of the skid shoes. It took me a little bit longer because the new model is completely different in the sides, specifically the right one, but using some additional nuts and washer I made it. Thank you very much for your idea tutorials. Happy new year my friend.

What is the run time? Did you change batteries in between?
Run time is about 45 minutes with two 5-amp batteries, depending on snow density.

Lol there's no comparison, A Honda with no compression and a fouled spark plug will blow snow better than these electric blender abortions

I believe this one is the stn2102, but I also have two stn2112's as well at the office for the guys. It's right up against the main road and the plow along with traffic can generate some pretty serious ice so the metal logger is best there. I personally don't have our roads plowed so the stn2102 is plenty here.
Battery would last longer if you did not keep in on continuously, rather, only when your clearing snow.
Yes, but my ego batteries last 45min to an hour. The drone battery only lasts 20-25 min.
I can clear my whole neighborhood in 45mi to an hour 99% of the time, so no big deal to leave the auger running.

Looking at your driveway, you don't have anywhere near 1.5' of snow. LOL Looks like 5-7 inches at most.
If that's a foot of snow. Than i'm gonna start telling the lady's i have 12 inches down there.. Probably 6 inches at best..
That's comical, but at the same time the housing opening on the unit is 14" and some of the time it's above the lights and the housing. So, technically this is more like 12 to 14 inches of snow.
Does it work well on heavy windrow?
I don't know. I have yet to use this model on a windrow because I don't get a plow coming down my street. I do know that the steel auger will work very well for it.

Boy I’ve been using a snow blower for forty years and I know wet and heavy snow when it comes out the shute and that was not wet snow that was fluffy snow.if you’re going to post a video be honest
You’ve clearly never seen a tape measure or wet heavy snow. lol. Then again you are wearing pajama bottoms to clear snow so it’s not a surprise.

There is no way that snow is wet. I just purchased the ego single stage, had two snow falls. The first 5" inches of somewhat wet snow. If it through the snow even clost to 10' I would be surprised, maybe 5-7'. Full charge had just enough juice to do 4 car driveway. 2 days later another 4' of snow. Samething, batteries last longer, they both still had 1 bar on each battery. But still the same thing, Snow goes about 5-7', even stalled a couple of times. The snow was somewhat wet, but my old Briggs & Stratton gas single stage had no issues with the same type of snow, and my neighbour with his cheap Yard Machine single stage had no issues starting after I started, and finishing his entire property with no issues, I needed to charge batteries for 2 hours to finish the backyard.

Two things. One Colorado snow is strange. It has multiple layers that gets saturated at different rates and ultimately ends up with a crust on the surface and two if you have a metal auger snowblower like I have at the office, I can assure you it doesn't throw as far. I can only assume that the metal auger has to spin slower than the rubber auger.
That, or now that I'm thinking about it there's a possibility that they slowed it down on the newer models considering mine was a first generation.
I can assure you it's quite wet! Not only wet but compact and icy. I am on the other hand using a rubber auger which throws snow much further than the steel auger units that I own.
Sounds like you might want to actually back off how hard you're pressing into the snow. It does have an automatic shut off if you overload the unit.

Definitely a foot! You'll note that the snow is coming over the housing which is over a foot high! And yes, this is actually a very wet snow for our area! Thanks for the comment!

It definitely looks like snow that has crusted to me.
My 1 stage ego can make it through some show picked up by the plow and thrown onto the drive - with some care. The steal auger is amazing.
Colorado snow can be strange, especially on the front range. It crusts over, compresses, melts into the lower compressed layers and heavily saturates. This can happen over and over throughout a snowstorm. Those layers may also have some sedimentary like layers that make the snow appear fluffy especially when thrown thanks to the changing variance of snow in a single storm coming over the Rockies.

Hate to disappoint you but that's not a foot of wet snow sorry.
It absolutely is! Sloppy wet heavy compacted and crusty! Colorado snow coming over the Rockies is a strange beast! But you are right. It's actually more like 12 to 14 in depending on where I was snow blowing. As you can see by the snow in multiple areas, its going higher than the housing itself which has a 14 inch inlet and covering the lights.
@@meunsupervised7320 As i can see, it only goes above the housing when you push it there. That is definitely 5-6 inches. Put a ruler in undisturbed, undrifted snow next time to show us.
