Very good video, quite spot on, however, as mentioned in other comments, no way an engine rebuilt costs 10K euro, where I live (Uruguay, South America) you can have it rebuilt for around $4K including distribution and water pump. Mine was rebuilt at 65K km by the dealer and out of warranty with no cost for the owner at that time. Gearbox needs to be serviced every 60K km as any other DSG, you have to check that as well, and like engine, nowadays they can be repaired for around $3K if they fail, including a new set of valves, clutch and mechatronic unit. PCV valve and intake manifold will fail at around 90K km, rear main seal tend to fail and cause small oil leaks too, even though not serious issues they are costly. Another important thing to check is the distribution chain and tensioners every 60K km and be prompt to replace if any signs of stretching are seen. Depending on the roads you drive you might need to replace engine mounts. Suspension is rock solid and can last many many km. Fuel consumption is high indeed, 9l/100km on the highway at 130km/h and 14l/100km city with lots of stop and go, my last average between services (7500km) was 11.2l/100km. I’ve owned this car for 40K km now and I like it very much, it’s plenty of space, peppy and quite fun to drive specially if you use the paddle shifters, the Torsen Quattro System is a pleasure, it makes the car stick to the surface making driving in poor road conditions a very safe and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend to anyone with a bit of mechanical experience, specially with VAG cars, but as the reviewer says, stay away if service records are missing or car lacks of proper maintenance, don’t buy if engine hasn’t been rebuilt as there are no exceptions, it will start guzzling oil, issue was only fixed from the 2013 model (225HP), don’t buy if transmission hasn’t been serviced every 60K km or if the distribution/water pump were not taken care. Last but not least, if properly serviced every 7500km with manual recommended synthetic oil (Castrol 5w40 in my case) and major issues have been addressed they can last a long time. Bottom line, buy if you are looking for a fun to drive, safe family car that will put a smile in your face every time you drive it. Don’t buy if you are not willing to spend on repairs or are looking for Toyota like reliability :)
All the things you say are real, but my dad bought one in the end of the september and it had a engine rebuil but it still had a big consumption, like 1l/300km and the engine is being rebuild at the moment.I hope that after the rebuild of the engine it will consume 1l/4000km or 1l/3500km .Either of these oil consumption are good for the engine.The car is very strong and the power that is has is just fabulous because it's a 2.0 TFSI not a 3.0 diesel and it has only 6.2 Seconds to 100KM/h this car is a beast and it's very easy.Me and my dad love the looks of the car and hope that the car is going to work properly after the engine rebuild.With appreciation, Codrin from Romania
I recently saw a maroon colored one here in South Africa that is why I searched for details like this. It is suprising that that its engine must be rebuilt at such a low mileage, 🤔. I used to own an Audi A4 2.0T Man Fsi 2006 that I enjoyed driving so much. Powerful and comfortable. I bought it just when it was under 100 000 km, drove it for 8 years without any engine problems until I sold it at 234 000 km. If I can find another one with reasonable kms I would jump at buying it especially maroon colored. Thank you for the informative video. 👌👌👍👏
The oil consumption problem of the 2.0 TFSI Audi Q5 is due to the piston if you you replace them with new ones the problem will be solved for like 3000€/$
For the customer it never costs 10k in the end, the factory might help you out etc. Sure, in some small garage tou could rebuild ot cheaply - but i sure as hell would not want to buy that car.. maybe i am just being paranoid.
Okei, so i guess the price has dropped a bit. But still, if i had the choise of doing it at a Audi dealership with a massive discount, or at a third place, id go to Audi. Nevertheless, thanks for the imput :)

Luckily for Audi owners here, the (only Audi) dealership fixed most, if not all 2.0T oil guzzlers, even out of warranty with no cost for the owners, they only asked for a clean and on time service history with them. If for whatever reason the car didn’t fall into that category then you are looking to pay those $4K I mentioned. These engines share a lot of common parts with other 2.0T VAG products like the Tiguan, Amarok and Vento (Jetta) which made the repair costs drop dramatically in the last 5 years, not only parts are more affordable but also there are many VAG specialists that can work on these cars for a fraction of what the dealership charge.

@@SilverhillDrives Ok, so basically if i buy a used Audi Q5 first generation like 2010 model, it's recommended that i change most of the parts? cause im actually thinking of getting the same 2010 S Line model. and i have spoke to the Audi technician which already told me to change the timing belt etc2. but i was stalling because i just wanted to make sure that if changing parts is the best solution for the longevity of the vehicle.
Engine re-bulid i better idea you must change only pistons and piston rings engine will use more fuel 0.5l per 100 km because new piston rings are wider this generate more friction between cylinder wall and piston ring

Engine rebuild does not cost 10k eur anymore. More like 2-3k eur here in Estonia.
Same in Romania. About 2k euro. Maybe 10k if you do it at the dealership, but they don't always have very experienced mechanics....
