I totally agree-I think we've missed out on getting to know some terrific queens who weren't good at Drag Race. Sadly, there didn't seem to be a sense in the early seasons (before social media was huge) that an early-out/first-boot RuGirl could use her time on the show to boost her career. (Hello, Jaymes Mansfield!) You just went home and that was it. I've even read that some early-season queens actually had a harder time getting booked after they went home-enough that they had to give up drag as a full-time career. I'd also like to see Joseph interview Alisa Summers (S4), Penny Tration (S5), Kelly Mantle (S6), and Magnolia Crawford (S6).
I cried with Venus as she told her story. I’ve been positive for 19 years; I’ve been depressed 46 years. I still struggle with substances and sex. Seeing this beautiful human talk about it made my day.
This was such a wonderful interview! I love that Joseph is shining a light on every queen who is interested in being "Exposed," not just the queens who will pull in the most views. Venus gave a fascinating, compelling look at her career here. I could listen to her endlessly. Something this interview emphasized for me is that RPDR queens - and *especially* early season queens - have had their social circles picked over mercilessly by Drag Race casting. These early queens were peers and colleagues, but edits and placements altered their social strata forever along with their career trajectories. Fans reinforce that with their parasocial relationships to the queens and with equating their placements with their talent. I can't imagine how hard it is to watch that happening to yourself and your livelihood as an early out who the fanbase doesn't latch onto with great love.
Joseph's interviews have changed my opinion of every queen I wasn't keen on. When they are relaxed and have time to explain themselves you see such a difference to how they were portrayed on drag race. Great work Joseph, you should feel proud.
Wow, this was a DEEP interview at some points. Thank you for being vulnerable to share your story V! And thank you Joseph! Another fantastic interview!
JOSEPH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now THAT is what I’m freakin talking about. THIS was thee interview sir. Holy Shiz I was laughing, I was shocked, gagged, goop’d, and then I cried. My darling Venus, you are worthy, you are beautiful, and most of all you are loved. I’m so proud of you. We need more “celebrities” to come out and share their status. To help end the stigma of HIV/AIDS. You just added your voice to the choir and now it’s that much more beautiful and loud. Like Madonna says “Life’s a ball, so get up on the dance floor!”
Venus is someone who people always talk about being cancelled and so messy and so awful, yet she seems so articulate and entirely level-headed every time I hear an interview. She must just be one of those people who is controversial on social media, but very different in person.
This interview was done so well, it really showcased a full spectrum of who Venus is as a person & performer. Seeing as Paramount Plus is adding a ton of content maybe there's an early elimination season or special that can be created. Especially w the early Queens, there is so much more story to tell. Great job all around, this was done very well. Kudos
I watched this last night and I wasn't expecting to want to give Venus a hug so much. I really respect her decision to talk about her status and her journey in drag. Great interview!
Thank you so much Ms De-lite for trusting us with your story, you are an inspiration. Never stop being you and loving the beautiful individual you are. Who the fuck needs RPDR to be be somebody awesome... :) much love.
Venus was the first queen I ever saw at a drag show, and she’s extremely talented and kind. She deserves so much more than the drag race fandom has given her. ❤️
I remember when they had the double feature of baby Jane and mommy dearest. Omg my grandma of course loved those movies but it was the first time I'd seen them.
I was 11 yrs. old, sitting in a theater by myself back when showings started at noon. Downtown was dying so there were maybe 10 people in the theater. Baby Jane touched me so deeply. As a teen boy seeing her mad scene where she says, "you mean all this time we could have been friends?" (my memory of the line) I cried for the first time I could recall crying emotionally. Such incredible writing and acting.
Thank you for this very eye-opening interview, on so many levels. I wish Venus all the best and the health in the world. You are a survivor and a fighter.
I would honestly love to see more sides of the industry featured here, like an interview with a wig maker or designer. Like I love the drag queens but it would be cool to see and hear from the perspectives of the people working on the periphery.
The real Venus De Light is not a drag queen. The real Venus De Light was in an HBO special with Ru Paul called Real Sex 5 and then coincidentally one the drag queens has Venus De Lights Trademarked name. All, or most anyway of Venus De Lights works have been scrubbed off of the internet including her Wikipedia page which was stolen by the person who stole her Trademarked name. Looking for an attorney that wants to pursue this case on. Venus De Light. Former publisher of Cheri Magazine and star of HBO'S Real Sex 5, Playboys Girls of Rock and Roll Playboys Girls of Magic, starred in Minsky's Burlesque Penthouse Pet Revue, Norbert Alemans' Hot Lips and Wild cats in Las Vegas, stsrred all over the world and was Dita Von Teese's idol. She hosted the world's largest party -The Fetish and Fantasy Ball in Las Vegas several times, was a 6 time Miss Nude Universe. She performed on Joan Rivers, Montel Williams, Geraldo, The Richard Bey Show The Mo Show, The Jenny Jones Show, Entertainment Tonight with Lance Burton and many more. There should be tons of links that come up when searching Venus De Light and instead the top result is a drag queen using her Trademarked name.
I adore Venus ! She really knows her shit and is actually interesting to listen to. Some queens that come on here I have a hard time following along or caring about their stories. I am also inspired by the old Hollywood glam and stars like Jean Harlow and Joan Crawford. Venus is from an era in drag i really respect! I think she is INSANELY UNDERRATED, and has so much to offer. And honestly shame on Jiggly and Bianca! Like where is the respect in our community ? Btw I completely agree with Venus, Jiggly has not changed since her season. But i am all her for her Trans identity and glad the representation is on the show !
Thank you Joseph for giving Venus D’lite the opportunity to tell her story and allow her to expose herself! I learnt so much about Venus that I never knew AND now makes me love her so much more! Drag culture is amazing and it allows us to explore & celebrate ourselves. Sadly many RPDR fans and the monetisation of drag culture has hurt and swallowed up many amazing drag artists. Keep exposing our queens Joseph
Venus, you were then and now still so captivating to me. You bared your soul and I absolutely love and respect you for being such a beautiful person. You are such an inspiration. I love you with all my heart and soul. Once COVID is done with (it will happen eventually) I look rather right forward to meeting you. I’m a big hugger (I know some aren’t), in the interim period, I’m sending you THE BIGGEST HUG. I appreciate you and your transparency. My husband and I are sending you and your husband all the love in the world. Keep being YOU. You are a beautiful gorgeous person. Remember that always and forget that NEVER. ❤️❌⭕️❌⭕️❤️
I love Venus♥ she is so talented! Is awesome to learn all this sides to her story and her amazing craft! nothing but love to her and to you Joseph for creating and sharing this great work!
I think there will come a time when Ru will have lots of questions she will need to answer to. Because this level of cruelty and starvation and taking advantage of peoples fears and feelings to make a show is completely disgusting and degrading. There needs to be a new show that combats world of wonder and actually showcases the talent of all these amazing people without the toxicity and bs that drag race puts them through.
This is such a refreshing video and I'm really glad I got to hear the Venus's side of the story and a more in-depth look of what they have to offer. Only things I knew about her was the little time they had on RPDR and the heckling on reddit. HIV story was heartbreaking, I'm happy to hear them lead a much happier life and I hope to see them back into the spotlight !! I'm so happy they met with someone who truly loves them AAA so nice
Omg i loved this interview !! This is the i térciele i never knew I needed😭😱 For sure a new love found for Venus bc honestly & im so sorry I kinda hated her on S3 🌚 but love this for her!!! Def wish we could see so much more of her & all the LA girls from earlier seasons !! Love these stories 🤍
Much love to ya Venus. Doesn’t surprise me Jiggly was a bully, her reactions to everything always end in tears. Usually the default of a bully with their hands tied.
This was an AMAZING episode of EXPOSED I loved every second of it. As I keep staring at Venus OMG she is THE Madonna impersonator 100% AND he is damn CUTE as a guy DAYUM as you are Joseph❤ you are so adorable and sooooo HANDSOME!!! I Can't wait for THE Nina Flowers EXPOSED episode!!! I'm sure there is some real tea there!!!
Venus makes a very good point. Porkchop gets love for being the first eliminated queen in the history of the show, while Shangela got a second chance (and third). Venus, Alisa Summers, Penny Tration, Magnolia Crawford, and Kelly Mantle were simply in a weird era were going home first had real consequence, and no opportunity to show what you can do. Double for the Season 6 girls since they both count as going home first. I much prefer later seasons where first-eliminated queens get a chance to come back.
I respect Venus so much. Always liked her, even during her shady season 3 Edit I liked her straight away. I love her Her Qween interview she really is a great storyteller and so brave coming out with her story. I think more queens SERIOUSLY need to take some lessons from Cynthia Lee Fontaine. Who after all she has been through with her cancer battle is a pillar for the community and she does it when the cameras are not around. And I hope Bianca and Jiggly reach out and apologise. I know in particular the drag race fandom don't dare criticise Bianca but she fucked up guys, and Jiggly did too they REALLY fucked up with Venus. Its very hypocritical when Queens on the show are screaming about Black Lives Matter, Trans Lives matter, LGBTQ Legal battles and yet behind the scenes they bully the hell out of each other. Like i said, they could do to take a page out of Cynthia's book.
I think it was great to see Venus In drag and as a guy. I think it helps relate to the artist as a person more. This was such a good interview that really explored the artist's personality and career that constantly gave interesting information. Respect for an entertaining interview and to Venus for being so candid and revealing.
This is the first interview that I liked of Venus D Lite. Definitely not in Hey Queen. This feels like more genuine and heart felt….. specially the boy Venus …. He was not putting up a shaw .

great interview i really didn't know much about venus besides some social media controversy, i'm really surprise, she seems like an talented and very creative queen, the perception i got before was just a madonna impersonator and nothing more but damn i was wrong
I believe so too. There are so many similarities in her audition video on RUclips that was posted 4 months prior to filming ...the Sci Fi Trailer, thrift shop mention, getting back in shape...etc.
I’m so sorry but I’m deaf and cannot understand what Venus says after saying “I was basically 2 white blood cells from being ____” at 1:05:20 I believe? Can someone help me hear?
We definitely need more interviews with the “less popular” girls. They deserve a chance in the spotlight once more to tell their stories.
Highly agree.
PERIOD
Completely agree

Stay strong brother. God bless you
i'm sorry
We love you. Stay strong

Wishing you the best ❤️
I was not expecting this to be the most important & emotional interview yet.
Extremely proud of Venus.

Yesss. Seriously be a grown ass adult and say what u did! I love it.
Best interview ever, this was absolutely heartbreaking and real. I AM Crying. 😢
Joseph make the interviews longer like this !! I love that she got to talk about a lot, and made the points she wanted.
Omg. I love her. Thanks for interviewing her. She is amazing and has a lot of courage. I want to see her. I hope Ru puts her on the next tour!
Joseph is the funny, empathetic, happy friend we all wish we had. He makes everyone so likeable.
He's also the boyfriend I wish I had 🥰
@@joshuakirschbaum same...
except for Serena.
This is definitely my favorite video of yours. I love them all and I love your style of interviewing. Venus rocks!!! Lots of love for you all!
She deserved to be guest coach on Madonna Rusical
Was Chad a coach on the Cher Rusical?

what a down to earth, inspirational interview! Thank you Joseph for hosting this and thank you Venus for being an awesome person.

Thank you for this very eye-opening interview, on so many levels. I wish Venus all the best and the health in the world. You are a survivor and a fighter.
The sugar daddy story had me in stitches. I had no Idea there was back story to it.
