    I know the Hunters like I know back of my hand. Dismantled and reassembled many in ten years of service in IAF. In 1965 war, I led a specialized technical team to replace entire damaged wing and replaced it with another intact one from the second damaged hunter in less than 6 hours. Loved the beautiful aircraft. We put as many as ten back into fight. Got a Bronze Star with combat medal. Served 7 & 27 Squd.

    India and Pakistan both had phenomenal pilots. The capabilities of both seem very much similar. However the one place India tended to do better was Interservices co-ordination. Also fun thing is for a long time Indians believed the attack on Murid Airbase destroyed only an ammo dump, before Kaiser Tufail stated that 5 Sabres were destroyed.

      @showtime112  Год назад +3

      I quite agree!

    • @tibzig1
      @tibzig1 Год назад +3

      Simple. Most aviation documentaries are the products of the West. They highlight what they want to highlight. For example, the West seems to put an "unusual" amount of stress on "superb" Israeli fighter pilots shooting down Arab pilots in all of the Arab Israeli conflicts, failing to mention how poorly trained the Arabs pilots really were and, in many cases, still are.
      This is about the same as American pilots shooting down North Korean pilots who were sent into combat with barely 40 hours of flight time whereas the vast majority of American pilots were WW2 veterans. Once the experienced Soviet pilots began to fly the Mig-15s the odds shifted a bit. It was the same story in the first Gulf war. The Iraqis were no match for American aircraft, technology and their experienced pilots. Bluntly, the West is surreptitiously demonstrating its superiority by only highlighting conflicts where it was successful.
      You do not hear too much about the North Vietnamese pilots who shot down Americans during the Vietnam war.
      The India and Pakistan conflicts, while very short wars, saw some of the greatest dogfights of the classic jet age ever fought. Mostly low-level fights and lots of them. But as you observed, they do not get much attention. Both countries produced some excellent pilots and despite what is stated in some media reports, there was a great deal of chivalry among the Pakistani and Indian pilots. The father of a friend of mine flew 26 missions in the 1971 war. He also shot down 1 x SU7 and damaged another in a confrontation while flying the F86. His father recounted an incident where a Sikh Indian pilot (a senior Wing Commander) was shot down by a much younger Pakistani pilot in a dogfight. The Indian pilot ejected and survived and was taken a PW. The Indian pilot was taken into a bunker where they all shared some food, beer, and conversation. A few days later, he was shown the gun camera film of the pilot who shot him down and they were discussing what "errors" he had made and so forth! LOL! Per my friend's father, there was no hostility or bad blood at all. They all saw each other as professionals.

    During the Rhodesian Bush War, through 60's to end of 70's, Rhodesian Air Force, Hunter FGA.9s, were used to great effect, as ground support bombers, pounding terrorist bases & formations.
    Its rugged design and range, used in attacks over Zambia, Mozambique.
    I don't recall them being used against other aircraft?
    Embarrassing for the British, as Rhodesia being a rogue colony since 1965, was using its limited resources, very effectively against terrorists, backed by the international community.

    Hi Showtime112, I have been a follower of your channel for a long time and I appreciate the high quality of your work. You ended your video asking for any more engagements involving Hunters, well there is one in particular, please show the shooting down of 5 Indian hunters by a single F86 of the Pakistani air force in the 1965 war by Pakistani pilot MM Alam.
    I had requested this before but you said that you had no hunters in your collection. Now that you do have them, please show this engagement. Thank you in advance.

      I will definitely cover M.M. Alam and his combat record someday. I do have the Hunters now but in a different game (War Thunder). It took a lot of grinding to get to it and now it will take more grinding to get Sabre. The Sabres you saw here are AI controlled and I need them flyable. But I will unlock the Sabre one day, and then a video about this story will be possible. Thank you for your comment!

    • @AT-bo6ww

      That engagement hasn't been confirmed by either side. They are all claims with no proof. Pakistan, PAF, his squadron, and even his wingmen haven't confirmed the event. Instead, Pakistani pilots have contested his claims. And conveniently enough, MM Alam was flying the only F-86 Sabre in the PAF inventory that "didn't have" a gun camera. No wreckages or bodies were found either.
