As a male, I really don’t understand dress code. Okay yes, the school doesn’t want you showing too much skin and stuff, and that’s totally understandable, but what’s so attractive about shoulders? What’s so attractive about knees? What’s so attractive about someone’s body? It wouldn’t really be a problem if nobody looked, right? Anyway, this is just my opinion. If you don’t agree with me, it’s totally fine and I respect it.

It never said anything in the Bible about showing your shoulders, in fact, Eve was completely nude and was showing her shoulders when she was created by God, and God didn’t mind at all. It’s these teachers that are weird about the clothes, not the boys. And I don’t mean any disrespect to my religion, please tell me if something I said was offensive!

As a korean highschooler, korean schools would NEVER allow students to even wear a slightly cropped top with an inch of ur belly showing. And u cant even imagine wearing a sleeveless top in a korean school and u would get side eyes from ppl if u wear one in the public even outside of school. I wore a conservative cropped top on school trip day and i actually was asked to go and change

I’m not going to lie, a few of the dress codes some places have are ridiculous like the tank top rule, we can always just wear something under it and tank tops aren’t even revealing most of the time depending on what type it is, but, dress codes aren’t just about being a distraction, it’s also about teaching younger people to be preservative and know they don’t have to always show their thighs or whatever, and that will help people in the future.

This is being honest... Why do people have a problem with a dress .. we had a dress code all. 12 years at school no one died from following it than while working for local government we had code male and female. Than the military had a dress code the than the hospital I worked had dress code... So what is the hang-up about having a dress code

In my opinion, dress codes are sexist, and here’s why.
Let’s start with the facts. 93% of schools have dress codes. Public records show 90% of dress code violationss have been girls. Girls are dress coded about 5x more than boys, and that really shows how sexist the school system has gotten. Dress codes objectify girls saying, “Oh you can’t wear that, it's showing off too much of your shoulder.” Or, “Your shorts are not passing your fingertips, you're gonna have to change.” I researched why schools enforce such strict dress codes on girls, and it was so that boys don’t get “distracted in class”, because the body of a girl is apparently “inappropriate.” This whole dress code is making girls feel like objects, that they have no more purpose than to be a distraction. That’s not right. This has gotten so out of hand that many girls have gotten suspended, or even expelled from school because of their clothes. It’s always, “Cover up you’ll distract the boys.” But never, “Stop looking.” If it’s really affecting the boys' learning then maybe instead of suspending girls for wearing something that “distracts the boys,” tThe boys should be told to keep their eyes to themselves. Why are gGirls always told to cover up but boys are never told to keep their eyes on themselves? Girls shouldn’t have to be covered from head to toe on a summer day just because she is “distracting.” In many schools, girls aren’t allowed to wear shorts and tank tops, even on the hottest days of the year, Mmeanwhile, boys are allowed to wear shorts and tank tops at the exact same school. Teachers and adults may say dress codes help the child learn about how to worry more about school than style, but style is a way of expressing the child’s personality and interests. Blocking a child from creativity will make them struggle even more in school. Our education should come first. Dress codes need to be adjusted so girls don’t have to worry about being a “distraction” when they wear shorts above the fingertips. We need to change the fact that girls are being treated as objects, we need to change the dress code.
