  • I've been doing RUclips for 7 years now, and as a (late) anniversary celebration, I wanted to reflect on one of the main causes of what caused my upload schedule to crumble in 2022. However, rather than just a dire tale, I wanted to focus on how Studio Ghibli's helped me get through this struggle!

Burnout is something I’ve struggled with a lot myself, so it’s really nice to hear from somebody else’s perspective. Kiki’s delivery service inspiring you that much gives me hope that I can overcome my own artist blocks as well. Now I desperately need to watch the movie. Thank you for your words of wisdom, Fuse

Me and my girlfriend watched Kiki's Delivery Service the other day, and she mentioned that a friend of hers had done a little video essay on the movie.
I watched this movie a *lot* as a little kid. We had it on VHS, and rewatching it genuinely felt like i'd only seen it yesterday. Now that I'm older, i understand the themes and even find myself relating to it a lot. It's a movie about finding yourself in a new place and struggling to make it work, about your passion wearing away because it became a chore instead of a pleasure. It's comforting and reassuring, and it feels _natural_. It feels _real_.
I'm glad that you were able to overcome your own burnout, too. Losing a passion because of being overworked is distressing, especially when it means that you lose something else with it. A lot of my artist friends rely on their art as a source of income, and burning out for them means that they don't have that income until they somehow work through it. Knowing what to do when it happens is more important for them than ever, and rewatching this movie really helped me understand it.

Find this by the magic of algorithms, but as a person that had two burnouts and still survived them, this really hits home

2020 was my best output of videos. People want me to do that again, I usually respond, I hope a future plague allows me to do that again. Lol.
This is my first time watching your videos.

A very simple, but nice video. I think something more in-depth would work/could be cooler but I liked this. Prolly a little better than the gizz vid.
I watched the film beforehand, and I enjoyed it. Kiki saying "it was fun until I started doing it for a living" is exactly why I don't wanna edit video as a job. It's already a time consuming thing that I put detail into, so if it was my job I'd grow sick of it. I wouldn't have the energy for my own creative work.

Thanks g. And I agree, that's one of my favorite lines in the film because it's a really nice embodiment of everything
