Ten Hag had a lot of money to spend during his time at Ajax. Slot had almost nothing to spend at Feyenoord! Had to make do with loan players and cheap players. At Feyenoord, many players have made great strides in their development because of him. When he came to Feyenoord, Feyenoord played bad football and pressure was never applied, no one could do that! When Slot became a coach, everyone thought he would need a few years to get his game started. But from day 1 with almost no budget, he immediately did well and also reached the conference league final that year. He also ensured that all players increased in value. A player he bought for 450k became Sold after 1 season for 17m. And so more players were sold after 1 season for a lot of money (for Feyenoord). In the 2nd season there were only 3 or 4 players left from the first season and due to financial mismanagement in the years before the end, only a very small part of the money that came in could be spent. With the players who bought, rented and came to Feyenoord on a transfer-free basis, he still became champion and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League! In the 3 years that he was a trainer, he completely 'changed' Feyenoord. There is now a top sporting climate and the game has never been as good as it has been in the past 3 years! He likes to press high and win the ball as high as possible on the field. But also building up from behind with many passes, luring the opponent and then moving to the goal in quick combinations. If the players listen to him and give everything for the club (Liverpool) then I am sure you will experience great times under Arne Slot
Thank you for this insight. I can barely keep up with all things Liverpool, so it's nice to get some insight on what Slot can bring to the table. Watched a video today released on the Feyenoord channel about Slot, and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Interesting to see what he can do on a larger budget and in a tougher league.

Arne Slot definitely have the potential to become world class manager but EPL is not Eredivise. As a Liverpool fans, I'm excited & I hope he can deliver as quickly as he can because there will be pressure if Liverpool does not have a good result. And hoping that he will have a clear game plan & tactics that Liverpool will play which will then give us a strong feeling that he will become one of the best manager in the league
As a Dutchman I can tell you, Liverpool will be happy with Slot....he's a very down to earth guy, the media won't be able to get to him....at least...I expect him to not let them get to him. He's not like Ter Hag who wants players to just perform a tactical task instead of playing football. His strength is his calm character and he can make players better while even not getting on their nerves.....he's not behaving like he invented football and players will feel good with Slot as their manager. Still, in football ye never know.......
May God help Slot. The media alone is going to kill him. But I'll pray for you Mr Slot to be a success at Liverpool.
You obviously have no idea how well composed his interviews are and how skilled he is in conveying his ideas about football into words. We have some very nasty journalists over here as well and trust me, Slot will deal with them no problem
The only time I can recall the media's opinion of the Liverpool manager having a negative impact on the club wasn't when they were laying into our boss, it was when they were desperately looking to blame anyone apart from Roy Hodgson for us being useless. The media were often harsh with Houlier, Rafa and Kenny and it was as much his personality as his success that prevented them from being all over Klopp.

in fairness not many people knew of Arne Slot until he was HEAVILY linked with the Liverpool job. he's at Feyenoord and the Eredivisie alrdy doesn't get much coverage outside Netherlands, and he had a disappointing Feyernoord playing better than before but bcs he lacked resources that Ajax had he couldn't do stuff in UCL

He also had 70 injuries, with most of them being in the back line. Imagine Liverpool without Virgil for most of the season, and almost no other defenders available. That’s where the GD comes from. How can you play well, let alone build a consistent squad if key players are injured all the time. Last season he finished 3rd.

Both clubs are very similar. People's club, fantastic stadium, great atmosphere, used to be rubbish in the early 2000's, now they are title contenders...
Tbf Slot's AZ managed to finish on equal points to Ten Hag's Ajax in 2020, and probably would've finished above Ajax if the rest of the season wasn't cancelled.

I'm a Liverpoolfan and you have to be honest here, we don't know if is any good and can step up to that next level, so we don't know how good he is. But tbh, I had never heard of Klopp before he came here, so I hope he can perform some miracles like Klopp did.
With this team Liverpool has, he should be aiming for top 4 minimum.
The biggest thing will be can the players get behind a new man who hasn’t had the success that many of them have had. Players have big egos and if you don’t have the track record these days then they don’t think you have anything to offer them. Let’s hope he’s a big enough character

6th place finish. Till then our worst season ever. With 58 points and a goal difference of 0. We scored less goals than points that we accumulated. Nowhere near a trophy.

Liverpool fans aren’t expecting klopp 2.0 and there is a lot of anxiety about the upcoming season. Most fans I know are just happy for a stable season with a top 4 finish. After that he will have more pressure on him
Slot's English is 10x better than ETH's and he has a likeable personality unlike ETH. He'll be fine with the media.
The setup at Liverpool is built to succeed, unlike the mess at Utd. If Slot fails, then it's his own fault.
Sadly that does matter - Klopp's relatively easy ride from the media was as much about his personality as it was his success on the pitch. It's even worse when it works the other way - it was positively nauseating as a Liverpool fan watching the media protecting Roy Hodgson and desperately trying to blame everyone else for his many short-comings.

Big difference is, he plays the same formation Liverpool do, plays the pressing game, so the squad is suited to his style of play
He actually plays a mix of 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 which I actually think will be great for Liverpool to play. The defense of Liverpool has been SO poor in part because they have so many 10's trying to play as an 8 and the midfield is playing so high up it's easy to play through.
Have a 10 play in their natural position while having a double pivot (with a true 6 to help) should improve the defense
Also jurgen klopp plays gegenpressing while slot plays more of a tikka takka football

Lets be real, TenHag is - in character - more like Pep, while Slot is more like Klopp. In terms of personality it's easy to see why Liverpool picked him. Whether or not a young Eredivisie standout manager can make it in the PremierLeague, especially with a topflight team..
Well that's debatable. Looking at DeBoer (QPR), VanBronckhorst (ScottishPrem) and TenHag.. the results haven't been stellar. But I do want to give the benefit of the doubt to Slot as he's not walking into a dumpsterfire having to deal with a mega ego like CR7.

The problem the new manager will have is convincing the owners to overhaul the squad. LFC have trophy winning teenagers but there isn't enough goals to compete next season, Jota is made of glass & Nunez just isn't working out, he hasn't built any chemistry with Salah or Diaz but how does a new manager that cost 10mill convince owners to rebuild and create his own team.
