Love this song! Takes me way back! Lyrics are hillarious! I have loved that song since it dropped. Im a bassist since middle school (played keys, skins, baritone and tuba before that) but my parents made my band play this for some event they were having. I was drunk as hell but we had a great time... and only gig I ever played a Beatles tune... however... I threw in NIB by Black Sabbath to get revenge for the Beatles tunes... my parents ran them into the ground
Listen closely to the lyrics. He replied to an add in the personal section of the news paper. He was ready to cheat on his wife, but his wife showed up at the bar. She wrote the original add that he responded to.
turns out in the last verse , the personal column ad was from his own wife looking for another man then they ran into eachother at O'maley's bar not knowing the other wrote the ad and the other answered!
always good! You are so fun! Great classic!!!
Good to see you back !
This is the first time I've heard this song described as a Masterpiece! Well, we're still listening to it decades later, so you could have a point...
I wish you could go back to the 60s /70s as it was one great song after another
Hilarious how they found out about each other’s plans
one hit wonder and I remember when it was brand new... huge hit
I am glad to see how much happier you are nowadays. 😊
Keep doing what you are doing, and congratulations to the 100k +

Uhmm, yeah. I think JB got it. By the way, she wasn't his wife...she was his "lady" ("old lady") which = girlfriend.
