  • Day 4 of yet another wonderful adventure, Mary Poppins and I hiked 80 km across the Northern most part of Vancouver Island, we visited San Jose Bay and the Cape Scott Lighthouse, hiked through magical forests and across many picturesque beaches, I moved here to Vancouver Island about 6 Months ago and have been really enjoying exploring the Island.
    Happy Trails Everyone :)

Just came across your video series on the NCT which I'm contemplating for next year...great job on the videography and commentary on your hike...what an amazing place! I've been out to Cape Scott a few times now, but that was many years ago...love to get out there again! Thanks for sharing your hike.

Excellent trip! A little muddy there, but it makes getting a hot shower and being back on dry land all the sweeter. 👍 Well done!

Great end to a hike thru dense rain forest! Ya know, there is not a lot of selection of comfortable hiking cookware that will keep your feet dry and still be breathable...the best we got is Gore-Tex shoes and gators, but the trade off is that they don't dry out quickly...and the STILL get wet! LOL

That last day was a classic New Zealand hiking day and you looked the part. Boots with deep treads make short work of the mud. Some people prefer heavy rubber construction boots only ankle high.

Seeing the burls in the trees if I didn't know any better , it could be the Olympic coast . Their is a spot off hwy 101 that is nothing but pregnant trees , a whole forest of trees with burls all the way to the ocean. If you only have a short time for any days off you ought to try the Shipwreck Coast Trail but take a tide book so you don't have to go overland around the headlands . Great series , I love Vancouver Island but for the fishing .

Any reason you started on the East side? Seems like most start on the western trailhead.

    • @HurlgoatHiker

We started on the east side due to our schedule and the water Taxis schedule, we were kinda forced to but it worked out really well!
