    I like the way Pete explains WHY he’s using a plug, relating to the target sound he’s after. He really makes sense without ‘hard fast rules’ ... meaning, the thinking approach of WHY he’s doing what he’s doing. And if you caught it, he’s also open to EQ b4 compressing if that’s what it takes. I like the way he uses the words ‘safety net’ explaining the limiter and tape. THANKS PETE !

      Elias Antonas Thanks for “getting” the way I teach, Elias! I appreciate that! 😊 And, yeah, I never say any of these are rules. I showed scenarios where I compress first AND EQ first but explain why I do them. Cheers, brother! 👍🏻😄

    Great tutorial man. I was amazed, because I have been doing some of the things you do here by instinct (if that is possible in mixing). It has been a while since your last tutorial. Thanks as always. Take care.

      Ricardo Ayala Thx Ricardo! Glad you dig. Very cool to hear we’re both on the same page! And sorry for the gap in content... life’s been a bit crazy the last few weeks and I haven’t been in the studio all that much. BUT, normal content and vids shall resume! 🤗❤️

    Great video Pete. I definitely want to try putting the compressor first on the mix buss.

    I usually eq into compression especially with vocals! Sometimes the newer plugins can have some extra lows for no reason so once I process sometimes I need to trim the lows some. Thanks for the vid bro! Keep killin it
    Your mixbuss is insane bro.. hella processing 😎🤠... I keep it simple on the mixbus. I feel like some of that processing may be better used on subgroups vs a mix buss.. also I always cut low end on the mix bus LPF @ 20-30Hz depending on genre before mix bus compression!

      Up To Bat Entertainment Thx for the kind words! 😊 Yeah, can’t go wrong EQ’ing first. And yeahhhhh my 2buss is a little nuts but it’s a big part of my personal sound. Works for me but it’s def not for everybody 🤓😬😬😬🤣

    Bit of topic Pete, but for the 2 bus, are you liking the API 2500 or the Bx townhouse?

    Good tutorial boss.Thanks a billi. I’m a fan to ur Chanel. I wish to ask a question.When I mix a vocal,it sounds better solo than in the mix.what must be wrong Or what I’m I doing wrong that shld be done correct.

    • @uptobatentertainment
      @uptobatentertainment 6 лет назад +1

      V2M OFFICIAL stop mixing in solo, you need to mix the vocal to the beat ain’t no one listening to solo vocals as the final song. It’s ok to solo in place for a few seconds if you searching for annoying frequencies to cut but you have to learn to trust your monitors, room, & your mix decisions! Have a good one!

      V2M OFFICIAL u need to start over again and work on a solid balance.👈👀

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  6 лет назад +1

      V2M OFFICIAL Yeah, I agree w both comments... it’s really really hard to tell you what’s going on/wrong without seeing and hearing your session as well as your mixing environment and monitoring rig. The bottom line is it doesn’t matter at all if something sounds good in solo. Most important thing is how it sound in the context of the mix. If you’re mixing music you recorded the problem can be how the raw recoding sounds. Soooo many variables there. Good luck and keep at it ✌🏻😄

    I have an out board Dbx Compressor/ gate, so from my mic pre im going into the compressor and then into my Daw, i do this for my vocals and guitars,so going into the computer should i Eq first or compress again ?

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  6 лет назад +1

      Dyvineone Really all depends on how much compression you want and also how the vocal or guitar sounds totally. If it NEEDS EQ or comp then I’d personally EQ first then compress. But don’t EQ or compress just because you think you’re “supposed to”. Use your ears and give it what it needs 😊👍🏻

    Does the 12:1 on UAD F change the character of your vocal? Maybe I have a bug but every time I use the F the 12:1 sounds so weird. Still on Pt10.3.1 Lion 😂
