The French AMX-10RC light armored fighting vehicle has been in the news a lot recently, and some of you guys asked me for my two cents on it. While it isn't technically a tank, I don't think it's worth getting upset over. In War Thunder it's a very good vehicle, but it can be tough to use when it gets uptiered due to the lack of a stabilizer. I hope Gaijin add the stabilized version at some point.

Funny thing about the 10RC is that, in real life, while the gun isn't stabalized, the gunner's sight is. The FCS is set up so that, while you're moving with the sight on an enemy, the gunner can hold the trigger, and the gun will automatically fire when it bounces past the target.
I can't wait for someone say *"It's still no stabilizer"*
Except that's not how it works. The sight only measures angle for the FCS when it's at rest. There's a reason why France wanted to upgrade them with TMl turret

Play some arty tank using only the HE-VT shell, I recommend the Type 75 SPH, since it have an autoloader and you still didnt make a video on it yet. The HE-VT can act like an TOW-2B-ish and explode above the enemy tank, and most likely you will overpressure it, if not you can hit the tank directly like any other HE. Its really funny to use this shell, plz do.

Ah finally someone talked about it, very funny shell can kill things even when it is physically not visible. Once i killed an spaa behind a wall, just from seeing it's tracers, probably the dirtiest work I've done yet. Ha!

The pneumatic suspension is actually useful for decreasing gun shaking on the move and at the stop. Yes, 10RC is not about being used in CQC, but it is nice to have slightly better gun stabilization.
It also has a really good firing control system which allowed to fire effectively on the move, which is not modelled by gaijin

Really neat video, the 10RC is one of my favourite vehicles in-game. A video on the Alecto would be really cool, it's 1.7 but I like upteiring it for silly shenanigans

The AMX-10RC is just my favourite vehicle in the game, and I hope they will soon add the RCR version. I immediatly loved it when I unlocked it (I wanted it since it was added basically), it really is on of the best vehicle at this BR is you can use it correctly

I'm a French main, it was the First Nation that I grind and the max-10th rc might be one of my favorite vehicles, this and the amx-30(1972)(with the police camo), even if there is better I just love them

I hope to see in short future the stab variant, and the one with a 40mm autocanon + atgm ! As well as other light tank/IFV, sad we got nothing past 8.3 since the release of the TT.

I love the French tech tree! it's has quite a diverse tree with better than average(In my opinion) tanks, and I really hope they expand it.
I know I’m a little late, I had school, but it is nice to see Spookston playing a lot of French vehicles, since they’re very creative vehicles, and are definitely interesting to study in.
I recently got released from hostpital from a dirtbike accident.
I was practically blind for weeks and had a dressing wrapped around my head, but eventually i could see just a little so i binge watched your videos and they made the agonizing pain 10x better.

I would recommend the M60 TTS as it is a very fun vehicle to play in my opinion.

you should defitely play the Zis -30 if you havent yet! Its pretty small, kinda slow for its size but has an insane gun for 2.3 with 145mm pen and a 6 something second reload

The most annoying prem at this BR range
the reason wheeled tanks have more traction, is that a normal tank only has 2 tracks, but a wheeled car has usually 4-8, the later number is bigger therefor better
I think I enjoy the editing of the videos just as much, if not more than the actual game play itself. Some of the reactions are pretty golden too.

Apparently vextra 105 might be coming next patch, and it’s basically an AMX10RC on steroid.
Same gun but with higher chamber pressure, stabilized, better optics (basically old CV90105 turret but slightly better optics).
It would only lack in neutral steering and hydraulics.
It’s similar I think to a centauro, but for France, finally.

For context, the Philippine Army is basically going to have a fleet of Sabrah light tanks based on two vehicle models: the ASCOD tracked IFV (a few of which we already have and will be receiving the rest of within this year) and the Pandur 6x6 wheeled APC (of which we have none of yet to my knowledge).
Both models are classed as full on light tanks. But I suppose the more technical definition for the Sabrah Pandur would be a wheeled FSV/tank destroyer/MGS

Fitting for the moment, but I wouldn't have imagined you'd be into this kind of stuff. Love PSG, yeah it's a cult classic but I find that it has become very niche in this day and age, so I'm happily surprised to find a reference to it here.

In role, the AMX-10RC is a tank destroyer and armored reconnaissance vehicle, per the troopers I've talked to. Per one man who crewed one in 1REC, only a 'dumb civilian or a dumb French officer would call this a tank...unfortunately the world has plenty of both'. The reason it lacks a stabilizer is debated, but the same legionnaire told me that the reason is its role. The AMX-10RC was meant to be an armored scout vehicle and potential adversaries. In reconnaissance, your goal is to not be spotted. If you do get spotted, you smack whatever spotted you in the face and then break contact. Thus, the AMX was designed to shoot first, kill the threat and then scoot away. At the time of design, the AMX-10RC was considered to have advanced fire controls with a high first-hit rate and the capability to kill any known Soviet tank.
This seems to play out pretty accurately in Desert Storm. AMX-10RC's were a large part of the French force in Desert Storm and engaged Iraqi tank brigades (I think from the 45th Division, maybe). In the battle, the French destroyed multiple enemy tanks, routed the Iraqi forces and did so without the loss of any French vehicles. This is a pretty accurate showing of what the AMX-10RC was designed to face, since Iraqi armor came mostly from the early 80's, when the AMX had been designed. So the AMX-10RC was not a bad tank and the design philosophy is pretty solid. It's just that the French army has decided to let it age like a fine wine...and now it's pretty outdated (gun no longer reliably penetrates modern MBT's, no stabilizer is a much bigger deal, etc).
Personally, I call it an Armored car, since it's basically a puma (which is classified as such) at a higher BR

I think vehicles like the AMX-10RC would be more classified as a wheeled tank destroyer or something of the likes. Vehicles with lower (relatively) velocity cannons that are more heat slingers (like the BMP/BMD 3) would be classified as IFVs along with the ratel (and like) vehicles.
Yes, and for a word to be useful both parties must agree to the definition in use. So, if you call something a tank and someone disagrees, you are not communicating effectively. Now in the civilian world the exact definition of a tank is unimportant, but in the military world it can be the difference between life and death.
Also, if someone is shooting a missile directly at you, and you can see it happen, I don't see why you wouldn't want to be able to shoot the missile, there's a reason why guns are still preferred on vehicles after all, because missiles are relatively slow in comparison.

Spookston I implore you: Play the type 75 SPH this is my 39th attempt, and I have no intent on halting such requests. Now, why should I spend a few hours of my day attempting such a strenuous task, you may ask? Well ill tell you: first off the type 75 sits at a very favorable br at 6.3, where it can face ww2 and cold war tanks alike. However, this does not stop this SPH from being a monster at either battle rating. With a 10 second reload autoloader, this SPH is not to be trifled with, allowing it to be a very capable brawler and sniper. In addition, the type 75 gets access to the one, the only god shell: the M107(PF) HE-VT round. This round is perhaps one of the most powerful projectiles at this br along with the Bkans hevt round. Since it has an incredible 9 KILOGRAMS of TNT equivalent, you can overpressure anything from panthers to tigers and even things such as leopards and centurions without even hitting them! Simply just overcompensate your aim to make the round pass within 3 meters of the tanks roof and they aren’t gonna have a good time! Furthermore, the type 75 also has excellent gun handling! With a good top speed and excellent gun elevation speeds, you can typically get your shot off easily before your adversaries. Overall, this would be a great tank for a video on 😊

It can engage targets from a safe distance, allowing it to avoid direct confrontations with enemy tanks by firing over hills with its large drop.
Mobility: Despite its heavy armament, the Type 75 SPH is relatively mobile and can quickly reposition on the battlefield. Its low profile and decent speed make it an excellent choice for players who prefer hit-and-run tactics.
Unique gameplay: The Type 75 SPH is a relatively rare vehicle in War Thunder, and playing it can provide a unique gameplay experience. It requires a different playstyle than other tanks, as it is primarily a support vehicle rather than a front-line fighter, however you can brawl with its 10 sec autoloader making it a really fun direct assault vehicle aswell.

I wonder how many of those "oblivious" players are playing on a bad screen. I used to play on a laptop with a dark/small screen that wasn't too great on quality. When I switched to an average 1080p larger monitor (nothing special) I improved a ton because I could see tanks/aircraft more than a hundred meters out. Especially with camo and such.
I agree about not being able to MG missiles, it causes any missle launcher to be the equivalent of staring angrily at a tank and hoping they die. It would make the Sturmmorser stonger though, and gaijin can't do anything like that.

Whars crazy is the pic at 2:12 is from the Battle of Marawi in the Philippines and that cardboard diy armor literallt stopped an rpg-2 rocket.
The Philippine Military foes not have tanks, bur large numbers of armoured vehicles, during the battle of Marawi some totally crazy DIY armor sets were used. You can look them up. Great examples of Filipino ingenuity mixed with huge doses of humor.
