We delve once again into the Moyo totem, 1200 years ago, at Great Zimbabwe. Chibatamatosi had two sons, Nyatsimbamutota and Mkwati (also known as Torwa). Nyatsimbamutota left Great Zimbabwe for the Dande area in search of salt, where he discovered fields of gold, elephants, and the Tavara people.
His son, Nyanhewe Matope, and his sister, Nyamhita (also known as Nehanda), fought against the Tavara people and emerged victorious. This marked the beginning of the name Munhumutapa, which was given to Nyanhewe Matope by the Tavara people after his triumph. Nyanhewe Matope later changed his totem to Nzou Samanyanga.

An excellent factual historical account, and the man sticked to what he knows. Like a true fundi does. The problem is people you want someone who comes and tell you all sorts of things which end up not being factual. In my view, this gentleman laid out a frame (skeleton), a robust one for that matter and we all have a responsibility to research more and fill in more information. His understanding of the inception of the Rozvi empire, the various players involved, the internal dynamics of power, the migration and he expounded on the tentacles of this huge octopus called the Rozvi empire - its reach, boundaries, geo politics and interaction with the Portuguese and European traders. Well done Professor Katema!
