Hi there!, I'm glad you had the opportunity to try a Mexican candy. I can see how if all your life you have only eaten candy that is just “sweet” then spicy candy might be an acquired taste. That specific skwinkle isn't my fav but I'll eat it 'cause I do enjoy the flavor profile.
The name skwinkle comes from “escuincle” which is an informal way of saying kid, so that name is meant to imply that it is a candy for children (and yes, sweet and spicy is a very popular flavor profile in Mexico for all ages, you can find it on candies or meals like mole). Cheers!

As much as I love the hot/sweet combo, this product sounds dreadful.
I love a chipotle cranberry sauce for pork or a sweet/hot sauce for Asian food but a candy that's also hot is just weird.
