- OMG these skillet pan fried potatoes are so deliciously good! The potatoes are fried with buttery onions, they are full of flavor and cooked to perfection. These potatoes can be served as breakfast potatoes. They are also the perfect potato side dish.
INGREDIENTS
6 gold potatoes, about 1.5 lbs
1 large onion
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp adobo seasoning
1 tsp garlic powder
less than 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
3 Tbs olive oil
2 Tbs butter, i used salted butter
1/3 cup chicken broth

While i was trying to find the needed seasoning i found that i have potato seasoning, which is a mix of multiple seasonings and most of the needed seasonings are in there.
This saved me a lot of time.

I recommend putting the sliced potatoes in a bowl, mix all the spices together separately, pour oil on the spuds, then add the spices, then put them in the pan OR bake them on a cookie sheet, OR put them in foil with the onion and chopped up precooked bacon

You should post a recipe on oven baked potatoes. I clicked on this recipe for pan fried potatoes. This recipe is excellent without your armchair criticism. Bet your fun when invited over for dinner at somebody else's place.
It's not a criticism. Just options. If you go to All Recipes or other such websites, you'll find many people contribute in the comments and they give very good suggestions.

Exactly what I was hoping to see regarding fresh Breastfast Potatoes and Onions. A staple in my childhood as my Gran and Mom cooked them most every morning. May i suggest you look up german bratkartoffeln, sliced potatos fried in lard and bacon grease till crispy with bacon lardon and sliced or diced onion.
The same way I was taught to make them but I grew up on a mid-west country farm. We added bacon grease to a lot of fried food.
@@sammyjo8109 northern european/german, polish, mostly with a touch of northern italian from my aunt by marriage, bacon grease and lard mostly, beef fat to expensive for everyday use, more special meals usage. would not touch olive oil with a barge pole, from mass production companies as we seem to be given the dreages.

I made this for dinner and it was delicious 😋 However, I didn’t have chicken broth so I ended up adding water. It still turned out delicious, next time I will use chicken broth. 💖🌸

You don't parboil your potatoes?
Whenever I've tried these without parboiling, they take forever to cook through. Maybe it's the broth and the lid that make the difference?
The broth and the lid essentially "boils" them at the end.

Yes, red or russet potatoes would absolutely work. i don't really like freezing cooked potatoes, i think they loose their taste so i can't give a good judgement about freezing these.
Should I soak the potatoes after slicing or before slicing them or does it matter?
If you're going to soak them after slicing but usually I only soak if I'm not going to start cooking immediately.
I don’t have a cast iron pan - will it work with a regular sauté pan?

Hi. I didn't have adobo, so I substituted 1/2 tsp of chile powder. I also had different type of potato, I added one stalk of celery, and I decided to fry some rice and boil them together. I didn't use any butter, just a bit more olive oil, and I used three tbsps of dried onion (instead of a fresh one). I also had some Better Than Bouillon and water, instead of chicken broth.

No temp info, no amount of seasoning info, 5 min in the stuff was raw still damn near. Had to go another almost 20 min. To actually fully cook without a snap
