16:51 This is not a joke, this is a real thing that might've happened. Anglo-Saxons did flee to Byzantium after the Normal conquest. And there are historical claims of them settling the shores of the Black Sea and having their own little kingdom there called Nova Anglia. And there is linguistic evidence to support this. Some place names attested by later Italian, Spanish, Greek, and Ottoman sailors are believed to be of Saxon origin.
The Charlemagne DLC for CK2 added storyline events you could follow when playing as the titular Charlemagne. It encouraged the player to do the same things he did historically, and lead them towards founding the Holy Roman Empire.
Personally, when it comes to someone like say Hildegard von Bingen, I would put her in the catagory of don't change faith. She is after all a christian nun. Now a character who I think would make a better example Chrétien de Troyes, author of the authorian stories most famously La Mort d'Arthur. Which doesn't really need a specific culture or faith. though if they are going to change cultures, it would be good to change the name as well to follow the language scheme of their culture. For example if Hildegard is of French culture, perhaps her name is changed to Hildegard de Bingen. I do like the system and I am certainly going to use it as well as expand on it with flavor. So for example one of the characters was Snorri, I am probably going to give 2 different versions of his creating the Prose Edda based on faith. If it is historical and he is a catholic then I would give it as an artifact that adds prestige here it is a cultural book and influenced by christianity to some degree but if Iceland is Norse Pagan then it could have more piety involved. As well as maybe some of his schemes about trying to bring Iceland into close alignment with Norway.

I hope they continue making these as they go along.
@@jackochainsaw same would be great to get a handful each dlc
I do like the nice touch of these figures of history just popping up and even the bonus of becoming them.

I guessed it was based on something historical, the more weird things usually are in the game

Great Video !
I wish they added historical landed characters thats one thing thats always bothered me with paradox games is there maps get way to wacky :p
Look into the mod Historal Invasions
You mean to make the game deterministic? For me the charm is that the simulation is allowed to run its own course.

Any news on Robin the hood?
My only issue I've realised with it, why release on a Tuesday! We have work 😅

Why would Sancho exile El Cid? That's not correct at all. It was Alfonso who exiled him.
Cause Sancho doesn’t die before gets an heir in game most of the time the time so it’d pretty lame if your game just cant happen 75% of the time

El cid is already in the game. I don’t understand. I definitely married my daughter to him then I granted him the duchy of Barcelona
hes just being fleshed out and made an unlanded character
