I think this would really help someone today that is struggling through life in second gear. Oh great, I just quoted a lyric from the theme song of Friends.
Grandpa made it through WWII without being killed, wounded or captured in spite of being in a unit that had ~95% casualties. When asked how he avoided all those things given the seeming randomness of artillery, bombs and leaders, he said that he simply took responsibility for himself and relied on God to help him be objective.
This is a well needed video Father. The main part of repentance is acknowledging your sins not making up excuses for them like blaming others for your sins. The original sin which resulted in the fall of man from God's Grace resulted in sin and death we weren't responsible for as it was the sin of Adam but which we inherited. Therefore God so loved the world He loves us that He sent His Son as being the Pascal Lamb the Son became one of us out of His love for us and offered Himself up upon the cross for us that we would be forgiven the original sin so that our sins that we commit might be forgiven by God. And through the Son's resurrection we might have everlasting life. The original sin no longer keeps us from God unless it's our own sins which we commit ourselves that is the gift the Son our Lord given to us to be with God. We are responsible for the sins which we commit as we are also responsible for repenting for those sins which we committed. Christians inherit the gift of our Lord when we are Baptized by water which is why Christians can say they are under Grace. As for the Unbaptized they have not yet inherited that gift as such they are under Law. It's only at the moment of death the Unbaptized might inherit that gift either by a Baptism by blood or a Baptism by desire as God decides.
There is a lot of blame going around in my house. I just graduated, am dealing with depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder, and my mom seems to make things about herself 9/10 times. If she doesn't get her way, she plays the blame game and makes everyone else feel guilty for what happens. I have taken responsibility for what I do, such as my outbursts of anger but she never takes responsibility for what she does, then fakes it by preaching how no one is perfect, not even herself, when she has proven time and time again she can't accept responsibility and that she thinks she can "can do no wrong" and i understand that I'm supposed to honor my mother and father but they walk all over me and blame me or everything. and the bible also tells parents not to provoke their children and treat them badly. Please, pray for me, and pray for them
Good point. Let's look at how the church itself models this notion of 'blaming vs responsibility'. One of the biggest issues that the church has faced in recent times has been the clerical abuse crisis. Who was to 'blame'? Homosexuals, sexual promiscuity in broader society, a few 'bad apples', ignorance about pedophilia, victims themselves, secular society, the 'media' ... You name it, every concievable group was to blame. Did the church provide us with an exceptional model of 'taking responsibility'? Most often only when it absolutely had to. So all this pious rhetoric about taking responsibility rings hollow when the church does the opposite. In that context, good priests are associated with an institution that models 'the blame game' so well. Good priests are associated with an institution that is secretive, vindictive and, oft times, aggressive towards the most vulnerable victims. In short, the most ernest messages of good priests are going unheard by those most in need of their messages.
Certainly yes, don't place blame on something else when you are responsible. But by the same token, don't place credit on something else when something good happens to you as well. If you put in the work and the effort, thank yourself for a job well done in the same way you would blame yourself for a doing a bad job. If you find yourself thanking God for getting a job or making enough money to get by, ask yourself why you don't also blame God when things aren't going so well.

How about the source of trouble being the hierarchy of the Church and even the Pope? They’re not to blame for heterodox teaching? And if they are what do you propose a layman do about it, Father?
How about praying for correction? How bout asking God to enlighten them? How bout praying Thy will be done? You have many options for power - to seek the power of God. Pope, priest, lay, they are all humans and fully available to sin. They are not to be worshipped and to think of them as saints risks idolatry. You pray for the sick, you pray for the poor, you pray for every condition in need of prayer. Why would you do so if it were not asked and heard by the Father. Why are Church members in less need of your prayers when they are assailed by evil? Who do you think is more desirable to the evil one? You or a Pope or priest with power? The devil only gets your soul but leaders can make fall many souls. Are we not responsible? Do we pray for their protection? Do we pray enough? They are mere men with targets on their backs. I learned the hard way. A Priest I did not like died. When I heard the news a thought was sent to my core. It asked me, “Did you pray for him when he was alive?” I was stricken with guilt, no I didn’t. Blessed are the merciful for they shall see God. Be very careful my brother to pray for popes and priests. I did a terrible thing. I judged without authority, prayer and mercy.

I'm the one to be bling To my fault I walked away from the church. But I know In back Good confession I'm coming to mass. I am sure glad I came back . And my friend For leaving I know it's my fault but why do they have to keep raining it up.
Or u can just realise: it is what it is..
@@Donna-cc1kt Your ideas are quite sound. I just wish Father could bring himself to address the issue and not act as if the problem is us. It’s not. It’s about the hierarchy of the Church.
This video is basically Fr. Mike attacking me for 10 MINUTES! 👀 It's okay though.
Is it you or is it the demons within that want you to feel offended? Don’t listen to them. Fr. Mike speaks truth and that often hurts. Peace. :)
@@Kharnellius I'm being hyperbolic beloved 😅.
